Apparently we should take one and done games to appease the national media and college football fans who will make fun of us regardless, regardless of whether our already right budget would be sent into the red as a result. Hell, Danny might even consider a true 2-1 or 3-2 if the home games offered were actually at our stadium and not at Camping World (which is what the UF’s and UM’s have been offering when they say “and a game in Orlando”).
I'm fine with unequal series if the money is right. I would assume has to be near $2 mill. Otherwise no thanks, load up on home games and win. All that has ever mattered is winning. Running the table again makes it really hard to say shit after doing it with 2 diff coaches and 2.25 different QBs.
That's my thing. Someone prove any of these teams offered to play at our home. The reason USF got Bama to play in Tampa is because they will still be 70% of the stands.
i have a feeling we'll be expanding soon anyways given how we're selling out everything. if we get it up 10k more perhaps we get more home opportunities against "blue bloods" vs the neutral site.
I don’t think anything over 55k or so makes sense for us ever, even if we get into a P5 conference. Attendance across the country is down for everyone and selling out is better than having the possibility of a huge crowd.
I'd only expand the premium seats by like 3-4k and call it a day. No way we should go past 50-52k with the trends. Like I have zero interest in sitting at a 3:30 Sept game vs Stanford when I can enjoy the game from home in amazing quality.
I was with Danny as long as he had a real plan for this..I've been waiting for him to land a great deal and he just hasn't done it. He's dropping the ball on our schedules. GT and UNC as marquee games is horseshit, I'm sorry. We should be playing 3 P5 games a year imo
It wouldn’t matter who we schedule. We could play Oklahoma, Georgia, Clemson, and an FCS team in the same OoC season and we would get knocked for the FCS game, make it to 6th and still be left out of the playoff. The track record is that a G5’s ceiling regardless of who they play is the at large NY6 game. Since that is the case until something changes, i’ll take the 7th home game, an away game I can drive to/from in a day, and a date for New Year’s Day at noon
Expanding the premium offering is a no brainer. Premium seating is an easy sell, it’s the cheap seats that are actually the hard sell. Adding 10k more general seats would just make for a 3/4 full stadium again
Not if you win these games? Are you arguing that you could beat Georgia, Clemson and Oklahoma in any given year and that you would not be considered for the playoffs? That is insane...you guys just never play any good teams during your undefeated years. When was the last time ucf beat a top five team during the season?
It’s funny how that works. I almost think we’ve gotten as much exposure for not playing UF than if Danny had accepted the shit deal that wasn’t ever actually an offer. Time is a flat circle; we tweet something, people like Boom run to the internet to talk about us.
Tell us where we were as a program when George and his idiot yes men where in charge and where we are with Danny? Taking a 2 for 1 game that is not at our stadium is a horse shit offer UF knew we would never accept
That’s an easy to say from a position of benefit from the system. It’s a double standard. If we beat those teams, it wouldn’t be about how good we are but about how overrated they must be. We ran a train on Pitt and were told how it means nothing because it’s just Pitt and Pitt isn’t that good. You come from behind to beat Pitt the next week and it’s a gutsy win over a strong defense of an eventual ACC division winner. That’s just how it works for the G5
Nd destroyed Stanford, Syracuse and beat Virginia tech convincingly on the road. And some still thought Nd should’ve been left off...how do you even make that argument? Your resume is consistently not up to par. And I fear Nd will suffer the same fate after a bad showing in the playoffs now. You need to beat or at least play up to the top teams in the country if you want to be included
I think you are on the verge of doing incredible things, I think your team should not be shy to go anywhere in the country and compete with the idea of winning the whole thing. I think that it’s exactly where you are and if you don’t cease the opportunity while all the Florida programs are down you will regret it. The window is now. Might be a hit financially at first but I think it’s worth the risk.
Record fan support Sold out stadium Record fundraising Discussed regularly in national media Yeah, I’m pretty happy with what he is doing. The only thing left is to get us in a P5 conference. When he does that, give him all the statues. Preferably one that blocks that ugly ass O’Leary statue
I’m not comparing our resumes. There is no denying that yours was much stronger than ours. I’m just pointing out a specific example of the double standard. UCF beats Pitt = Pitt is bad ND beats Pitt = Pitt is good
We lose by 8 to a top 10 LSU without the best player to ever put on a UCF uniform and that gets a lol You brag about beating Syracuse, Stanford, and VT
I really am dying over here a guy bragging about beating a team with a losing record is telling us to play someone.
Don’t worry, that win was a problem for Nd. One loss and Nd was out. No questioned asked. Nd needs to go undefeated or we are out. Most people wanted Michigan in even after Nd beat them....then It was osu then Georgia.....and Nd played Clemson tougher than bama
You don’t even know how to spell Stanford..... And Nd beat that lsu team just 7 months earlier....without milton
Another great argument. We beat LSU, in a different season when they lost to Troy, without a UCF player.
That schedule is a fucking joke, you can turn it upside down do whatever it’s a fucking joke and until that is different there is no way you will get any respect. I personally think that it’s the best time to roll the dice since you guys should not be afraid to go anywhere with that program/football team but whatever, I will leave you guys alone.
That right there is what I’m talking about. We lost by a score with the opportunity to tie the game at the end. If we were a P5, we could say we lost because we just didn’t care about the game after we got left out of the playoff just like Auburn said the year before. However since we are G5, the actual game is forgotten and it is just “you lost to LSU, lol. Giving up 40 points to LSU is amazing”. What about the 32 points that our backup QB put up against an SEC defense? That’s not brought up; 32 points and he was hot garbage that game. This is the double standard I’m talking about. we play an SEC team close and don’t get credit, we beat an SEC team and don’t get any credit. It doesn’t matter who we play
That fucking schedule https://fbschedules.com/ucf-football-schedule/ Nd goes 12-0 everytime with this shit schedule. Florida fucking a&m?
You need to play them in the season when it matters. And I am not disagreeing with you guys, ucf is a solid program. Time to act like it and stop trying to see short term.
Especially considering that ND is one of the programs to benefit most from the current system because a bunch of sports writers have fond memories from their childhood.
That is complete bullshit but ok Just look where Nd is ranked after playing Clemson tougher than bama. Michigan is over Nd....
No one is saying we have comparable schedules or that our schedule isn’t on the weak side. We’re saying it doesn’t matter what our schedule is, as long as we have a G5 label, any schedule will be considered too weak for anything more than a NY6 at large game
And I am saying that it is not the case, if you go play a good Georgia, Michigan, usc, bama, osu team you will get the credit. Now maybe it’s not possible.
I’m not trying to be a dick because I don’t think you are in here just trying to talk shit. I know from your perspective that’s what you believe, but from our experience that is not the case. It’s really a moot argument because there is no way I can make you see it that way because you just aren’t in the same position as us
Resume bitching is missing the point. Yes - ND had a better resume - but that doesn't make them a better team (not trying to have that argument of who was better either). The problem is that we don't have the chance to see where a magical run could take us. The biggest problem with this whole scheduling better for a CFP position (and looking at our 2017/2018 teams) is that there was no way to know when those schedules were put together that the team would be THAT good. The whole "schedule harder 5 years into the future" doesn't mean the team will be good enough then. And then what? You give up a lot of money for nothing. And what if we schedule a super schedule in 2025 but the team is actually really good and everything clicks in 2026? It's not like we get credit for scheduling tough the year before. The problem is that you can't predict when stars align and when they do - you don't have the opportunity to see where it goes. Everything else is just pointless message board fodder.
