What’s frustrating is that this is the best staff in the majors. I don’t think our window was closing.
i was concerned about losing mickey, but it seems like our pitching development hasn't skipped a beat. i would be fine trading kluber as well at this point, because we're going to need more punch in the lineup to challenge the AL's upper crust
Jose picking up where he left off the back quarter of last season On a positive note, Santana has been lights out. I don’t think anyone expected this.
Get something for him now, before he spends an entire season with an ERA like this current one. They’ll be able to get something decent from a team in the hope he’s just in an early season slump.
Braves folks really upset we missed out on Espino. The guys that follow the minor league system + the Braves' draft experts.
Nope. Pretty widely agreed to have the best stuff in the draft, but a small frame caused him to fall as far as he did.
Pretty sure we are all in agreement to sell like crazy, right? Bauer, Kluber, Lindor, Kipnis, Carrasco, Hand, etc. This team is going to be bad for the next 3-4 years. Might as well get some young talent to try and prepare for a playoff push in 4-5 years.
Crazy a series is so important in July when it comes to the future of two teams. A sweep either way pretty much determines the immediate future of the respective franchise. Not a great top of the 7th for the Tribe.
Franmil Reyes is a fucking power hitter. 24 and under Indians control for the next 6 seasons. Puig is a rental for the rest of the year.
We also got a minor league pitcher as well. What a steal. We were not going to be able to keep Bauer long term financially and if we somehow did, he would strap us in other areas. Love this move.
With a healthy rotation of Salazar, Kluber, Clevinger, and Bieber coming, this team is way more equipped to win in October. Frankie is Frankie. Jose is heating up. Santana is playing well. Naquin has been great. Now you add two big bats to that lineup and it makes the offense much more of a threat. Hell, Kipnis might even see his numbers go up!
Thinking about the playoffs... SP- Mike Clevinger, Corey Kluber, Shane Beiber, Salazar/Plutko/Plesac CL- Brad Hand Frankie Lindor - SS Oscar Mercado - CF Carlos Santana - DH Yaseil Puig - RF Franmil Reyes - LF Roberto Perez - C Jose Ramirez - 3B Jason Kipnis - 2B Jake Bauers - 1B Sure, I'm probably bias, but I think that team can play with anyone in a series. Way better positioned than before the trade deadline.
Bauer deal definitely seems like a win on paper for the Indians. With that said, they could have done something similar in the offseason if Dolan wasn’t such a cheap bastard. I was pretty stoked until I saw Houston got Greinke. That’s a huge move for them. Including him in their rotation is going to pretty damn difficult to beat in a series.
Agreed, but we are much better equipped to go against a great pitching staff than before. We can pitch with the Astros and we can hit with the Yankees & Twins.
For sure. I think they definitely solidified their chances of making the playoffs, while Houston’s move significantly decreased the chances of a Pennant for Cleveland. Regardless, I’m happy to buckle up for a wild ride for the next few months. Interesting stat (sorry if already posted): Indians trade was the the first in MLB history for two bats with over 20 HRs before the deadline.
