She has no voiceover experience and didn’t bother to prep. She’s a megastar that didn’t need to do this to grow her brand and it showed.
Everytime a planet earth show has been on tv recently my 5 year old daughter asks, “is this how they made the live action lion king?”
My kid just yells "daddy, LION KING!" at any commercial with a reference. Might have to go again tomorrow.
I thought young Simba was the best voice acting of any of the parts I thought I was ready but he fucking got me right in the feels right after the stampede cleared the gorge
Saw it today. I thought it was great. I had my doubts since the original is one of my all time favs and my 5 year old daughter got hooked on it last month. She loved it as well. I didn’t notice some of the complaints others have mentioned. Some voices could have probably been better but I didn’t feel like they took anything away from the film.
I loved it The Beyonce criticisms don’t make sense to me at all. She was fine and it never even would have crossed my mind that she didn’t do a good job if it wasn’t for this thread
I also think she just didn’t have enough lines for me to feel strongly about her performance either way Timon and pumbaa were the highlight. Seth Rogen was the perfect pumbaa
Overall I really enjoyed it. Comparing it to the original is dumb. If you loved the original but couldn’t go and enjoy this for what it was I feel bad for you. I had lots of nostalgia
I agree. Awful casting choice but I’m willing to offer some positivity and say she was ok. Agreed again. I kept my phone out during the movie writing comparisons about the two but in hindsight that was a waste of my time.
One of these days some studio will make the brilliant decision to cast professional voice actors like Troy Baker, Nolan North etc in a CGI movie and everyone will wonder why the fuck people didn't just always do that. Like casting teenagers instead of 35 year olds to play high school kids.
Yeah, I read it over the weekend before I went to the movies and couldn’t believe how pathetic it was
Thought it was good. Don’t understand the shitty reviews from critics. Eichner, Rogan, and Ejiofor did a great job in their roles.
My kid used to be obsessed with The Lion King. He has a super special affinity for it. Went to this one and he was like that’s a no for me dawg. Immediately came home and turned on the original. I mean, it doesn’t suck but it’s not good either. Like a real life worse version of something that was perfect as it was.
