Hey man credit to Flores for pulling that plug now in July. I'm honestly pretty impressed with the early offseason course correction.
This post makes no sense? Why would you still make a trade if you know it's going to be a bust? also - why are we in the market of just throwing away 2nd round picks on projects?
Because you are acquiring a Top 10 pick the year before for a price of a 2nd round pick. Even if there was a re-draft this year, he would have likely gone in the top 15-20 picks. Would hardly call that a project.
The fact that he was a top 10 pick the year before is completely irrelevant now that you've had a year to actually see his performance in the NFL... if a guy was a former top 10 pick and sucks once he actually gets in the league, who gives a fuck where he was originally drafted As for saying he's not a project... idk what to even say about that. Maybe he develops at some point or improves in-season, but at this point, after seeing what he did last seaon, idk how he's not considered anything other than a project
Dude that’s like saying a trade for Jamarcus Russell is anything but stupid because he was a first overall pick. 1) that’s a form of sunk cost theory. 2) you’re weighing evidence of a different league heavier than recent evidence in the same league. 3) there’s no way anyone would take him top 20 this year. The Dolphins were the only team that inquired about him. Does he still have time? Yes. But with every day, he’s moving the needle to bust like so many before him. From my perspective, the Cardinals with Rosen the same with the Panthers with Clausen told you everything you needed to know. They knew they had a dud early so they went back out and got someone else the next year. I don’t care much for the Klingsbury argument.
My fear is that we win something like 7 games and have to give up a fortune in order to move up to get a QB if we want one
I cannot understand why you bring in Fitzpatrick if tanking is the game plan. That guy can fuck around and win you 5 or 6 games
Properly tank and win 1 game but make it something glorious like the last second Pats win with Gronk flopping around like a dying fish
It’s pretty obvious they wanted to give Rosen a try out so fucking trot his ass out there. If a player has an issue trade or cut his ass. It’s time to plan for the future. No more fucking 7-8 win seasons.
In my opinion you have to play Rosen from the beginning until you either know he’s the guy or he isn’t. Playing Fitzpatrick before that time is pointless given that he’s not the long term answer. If Rosen looks like he’s the guy, then use the 2020 draft/offseason to build around him and go from there. If he’s not, run him out there again in 2020 and tank with nothing to lose, then #Lose4Lawrence like I’ve been advocating all along and use the 2020/21 drafts/offseasons to build a team for him to walk into and take over.
This would be ideal but I’m personally happy with Tua or Lawrence. Strong draft combined with strong FA and you could sneak into the playoffs next year with ur shiny new rookie QB.
sorry man, but you can't tank for 2 years. This isn't the NBA. I think Tua can be just as good if not better than Lawrence in the league and we can potentially get him in 8 months he gets this season, that's it. 2 years of losing would destroy the franchise/fanbase and I doubt Flores would survive that anyway
While I agree that what I’m pitching is a pipe dream and unlikely to happen, the browns are a season removed from winning 4 games in 3 years and have seemingly turned things around since then. I also readily admit that I’m biased in that I think Lawrence is going to be Peyton Manning 2.0 and I’m just not quite as sold on Tua yet, but I’m more than happy to be wrong if he winds up a Dolphin. Whoever the qb winds up being long term, that OL (among many other position groups) needs to be rebuilt for him to have a chance.
Firing Flores after 2 years just keeps up the same thing we’ve been doing for years. I’d much rather take 2 bad years with adding some talent in a draft with the same leadership and have a potentially generational QB in Lawrence.
We're not waiting on Lawrence, nor should we. We've waiting long enough and there are more than enough good options next draft. All our draft ammo is for the 2020 draft and everyone is the league is going to be tanking and gunning for Lawrence.
Another spectacular first rounder down the dolphins drain. Season ticket holders should sue Tannenbaum
I’m really surprised there aren’t more of you guys mad about using a first rd pick on a slot corner. I hope everyone that is team “tank for x qb” understands it’s plausible (likely?) we could tank and blow the pick
harder to blow the pick when you are #1 or #2 overall than "17th" like we've averaged for the past 18 years, especially when a Peyton/Luck/Aikman/Bradshaw/Elway/Tua around I don't know what you are saying in your post? Would you rather go 5-11 than 2-14 and draft 12th overall?
