Any good happy hour deals? Staying in the FQ but willing to walk/travel a bit if necessary.

Meant to post this when I got back from NOLA last month, but damn the food was amazing. Half the places I can't remember but all was good food. The last night the big boss took us all out to eat at Emeril's Delmonico, amazing dinner. Also, Cochon Butcher was phenomenal as well. Can't wait to go back for a non-work trip.

    How bad?

Haven't had a chance to read any weather reports, but I've seen things on social media today and the flash flooding was pretty surprising. Supposed to be coming to town this weekend for the Rolling Stones and was hoping it'd be away from NOLA by then

Just a shit ton more rain and the river spilling over is all. I don’t trust the pumps or drains with the amount of rain that’s coming.

Water reached to the bottom of my car today. Seriously flooding at my office building.

This was the “storm before the storm.” The worst is yet to come.

Its a chitshow and only getting worse. Folks that don't leave are asking for it. Interesting to see what the state and federal response will be. Already a state of emergency.

I'm hearing rumors that Rolling Stones are going to be rescheduled to Monday night. Reeeaalllly wish I hadn't moved from NOLA if that's true because I don't think I'd be able to make it if that's the case.

Damn dude that sucks, well I’ll be sending good vibes that you'll be able to see Methusel-I mean Mick. Even if you are a Rebel.

I was gonna go to Tipitina’s to see Jason Neville tomorrow night but I don’t feel like breaking my kayak out for it lol.

Yeah, The Rolling Stones are a bucket list show for me. Pretty furious right now, and that's not even taking into account the hundreds of dollars in tickets I am stuck holding on to

How bad do we think it’s going to be? The stagnant water sitting in the heat worries me, plus it be a slow-moving storm.

But the levees? Will they hold up?

If yall know anybody in Plaquemines, Terrebonne, St Bernard, Lafourche, and the lower areas of Jefferson; might be a good idea to tell them to head out while there’s still a bit of time just in case. Especially if they’re close to the lake:

I got outta town. As the gf and I saw how high the lake was going east on 10, we audibly gasped and looked at each other and validated our decision to leave. It could be bad, it could be nothing. I'm gonna enjoy showers and air conditioning in Florida and go back when it's time. Fuck some non existent badge of honor staying thru a storm.

I went to K-pauls on mine with 12 and will be taking 14 others there in a month. We all ended up splitting a bunch of food and had 2 drinks in for like $40 each all in

If y’all wanna start the night out and get some good cocktails at a swanky place then go to Justine. Great food too.

    Great seafood at Luke.

Rusty Nail is a cool bar near you.

One of the best burgers in town is at Port of Call. There will be a line, so maybe go at an obscure time.

Clover grill on bourbon is open 24/7, old school diner style.

Oceana Grill is nothing fancy, but they know how to run the joint. Good, fast service and decent seafood.

If y’all wanna venture Uptown then do the following:

    Food -
    Rum House
    Warbucks

    Bars -
    Bulldog
    Tchoup Yard

Planning to skim through this thread over the next couple weeks, but have officially locked in all travel and accommodations for the UF/LSU game in October.

Getting into town at Noon on Thursday and flying out Sunday night at 7:30. All nights we’ll be staying in New Orleans. Got a place off Magazine St near intersection with Erato. So pretty much Lower Garden / Central Business District area.

Looking for any and all food recs since that’s our main priority. Been almost a decade since I’ve been to New Orleans. I’ll be with a college buddy, my dad, and one of his friends so a mix of good food and some laid back drinking spots should do the trick. Looks like Courtyard Brewing is like across the street from where we’re staying so that’s cool.

Have reservations set for Cochon on Friday night. Nothing else on the books yet. Fire away. Piece of Meat looks right up my alley as a lunch spot? Places don’t have to be walking distance, so anything is fair game

    Cavan
    Bouligny

Fwiw, Courtyard just announced today the are moving in the next couple months (in addition to opening a 2nd location some time late this year or early next year.)

Still, go either way if you can. Urban South is in the Garden District and definitely worth your time too. There's 3 other breweries but those are top 2.

Domilise's for a good po-boy, but it's a small shop, so you may have to take them to go.

Cochon Butcher is nearby as well, but you're already doing Cochon.

Oyster bar happy hour @ Pascal's Manale is low key for a nice restaurant.

Stein's Deli for a classic jersey deli set up.

I still haven't made it to either Turkey and the Wolf or Molly's Rise and Shine when I visit. I've heard both are great, and the owners are partnering with Courtyard on their new mid city location. Not sure if they'll be partnering with them at the new Garden District spot, but it is supposed to have food.

    Good to know.

Depending on kickoff time (probably 2:30 or 6 CT), a to-go food option for the road might be in store so I’ll keep Domilise’s in mind

Definitely looking at Stein’s. My dad and I are from the Philly area so I love a good deli

Steins is a cool spot. They have coolers full of drinks and good beer, as well as a big back room stocked full of beer. I always hit the beer room when I'm in town. I got the pork roll egg and cheese on an everything bagel last time I was there and it was delicious. They will give you a hard time if you walk up to order and then stare at the menu like you have no clue what you want. It's fun.

I feel awkward if I get too close to the counter without knowing what I want, so I like this place already. Very much keep my distance while I look at the menu to decide

Well you may not want a deli for lunch. Go with Domilise’s, Guys Poboys is legit too.

Parkway has the best poboy in the city imo, but it’s in Mid-City and you’ll need to go at an obscure time so you’re not waiting forever.
