Same, I don't a ride until I have what I want. My weird one I lay semi-rolled bath towel across the bars, and my hands are always resting on the towel. I never have a clenched grip to release when instructors say to do so. Probably lose some power since I only rest open hands on bars for support regardless of output, but I've done it this way all along..
Olivia's 30 min Hip Hop ride from 7/31 is a killer. Rated 8.7/10. I finished and assigned it a 10. it felt like 30 minutes of sprints out of the saddle at relatively high resistance. that girl's fitness is insane.
She is insane. I can't do her rides out of the saddle as much as her, but that sexy little tart drove me from doing an easy ride yesterday to freaking out to a PR. Lesson learned, tempo rides can't be with her. She's my new Jenn Jacobs - gets high outputs from me every time. I gave it a 10 also - 45 min rock ride. It was evil. Emma must've been at the beach recently, she looks amazing.
Sitting at 5998.2 miles. Will roll 6K during next ride's warm-up. 70 miles further than Denver to Buenos Aires (by air). Love the data from this thing.
I took an Olivia cool down and she had this cutesy laugh which was fun to listen to. I’ll be on an Emma ride tomorrow man.
Lizzo ride was awesome. And I'm not even a big Lizzo fan but I didn't realize how much I enjoyed her music. My previous high (Olivia pride ride) for 30 min was 391. For the last eight minutes I just pushed in the saddle at 55 resistence to catch up and break my prior PR but I don't feel bad about it. That shit was hard.
Been planning for a week or so to push for a 30 minute PR today. Woke up without much energy and put it off until 2ish. Left it all on the bike and missed a new PR by 8kj. I was too pooped to even do a late push. Oh well.
I'm pretty incredulous there isn't an LA studio already. Might be annoying thing about Peloton to me since I don't use the speakers.
Did my first advanced 60 min bootcamp today. Not too bad. Love these bootcamps. Kick your ass but you feel incredible after.
Not very familiar, but was under the impression that boot camps are tread only? Or are there classes with the bike?
I just run outside and use the app on my phone. I have the weights for the strength part. Downside is that I can't control elevation, but I do the efforts as they are called out.
When I got Peloton, I rode in mountain biking shorts with so-so padding, and thought the lycra bike shorts tights look was absurd. About two weeks later, I had some ordered up well-padded lycra shorts on Amazon, and have been a MAMIL (middle aged man in lycra) ever since. They're better, its science. I have these, they've been fine, but I've never worn anything else to compare them to. I rotate two pairs. Don't tell a.tramp if you on-line order, he would want you going to a bike shop. Are Peloton riders acceptable at a bike shop, or are they viewed like how indie record store clerks look at U2 customers, a.tramp? I did a "MetCon" class at Equinox last Thursday. Pretty damn difficult. I'm mildly annoyed because I'm still sore from the class. I struggled through a 20 minute low impact ride yesterday. Hoping I can do a regular 30 minute class today.
Either that or set clocks back a few hours for a couple of instructors. Really though I'm surprised they haven't opened one in another city like Denver or LA yet.
so before i laugh too much at the equinox/soulcycle thing with stephen ross... anyone know who the founders/owners of peloton are and if they've hosted any fundraisers?
Got some shitty, not life threatening health news yesterday - I need 6 mos of radiation therapy (we knew it would happen sometime). Took the rage to the bike, raced in an Encore finishing 2nd (and PRing barely), just ahead of a guy I chased the whole way and passed late. Had to hold 380-410 for 30 seconds 3 times at the end, resting at 260, so he couldn't catch me - power zone classes have really improved my speed. Such a fun race. Glad I'm starting this in the best shape of my life. Still probably a couple weeks out before I start it.
Let us know if you need anything! Even if it is only emotional support. You've got this. Keep us updated.
Thanks all, I'm ready for this. Trying to figure out how to hide this from work is current preoccupation.
wasn't feeling strong enough to do Emma's 45 min RHCP ride so i PRed Robin's 30 min HIIT ride she did today 442 kj. think i was at 417 from the Lizzo ride last week. I hated the 15 min Tabata ride but HIIT was fun with the rest and pushes.
just did my first 45 min since this ride (excluding low impact) and hit 646. i feel awful and weak and exhausted - i work out in a fasted state and i think i started too late to feel good - but i don't really see myself improving on this one. it was Emma's RHCP ride. this is rated 8.9 now. guessing it wouldn't go higher because no one will really do it anymore now that it's old but it has to be up there as far as the hardest music-themed rides in the system.
And taking up the rear I got a 291kj on the HIIT ride today! New PR. So damn close to my original goal of 300kj/30 min that I set for myself back in Feb.
Got "Win" #4 during the 8:30 pm Mountain Intervals and Arms. Lazed through warm-up in high zone 1 with highest finishing female 1 point behind me. Seattle guy passed me late in warmup, and he paced me up to the three warm-up rabbits during spin-ups, which made it clear there were no sharks. In last week's encore race, I finished 2nd, but 150 output behind. By middle of first intervals, I opened a gap (not planned, just happened), with Seattle guy hanging about 12 back. Nobody raced arms among the leaders, gaps didn't change during the three arms sessions. Gap just steadily grew as I gained about 10 output on 2nd place during each interval set. Very uneventful standings-wise, everyone rode the program. I couldn't even tell if 2nd was trying to catch me or riding his ride. Either way, biggest field I've landed at the top of, so I'm pretending it was a hard fought battle to the death that left 2nd place sobbing for his mommy.
