Mar-Vell went toe to toe with Thanos multiple times in the comics. Their power levels are consistently shown to be at least equal, so Captain Marvell should be able to do the same. She has all of Mar-Vell’s powers. But yes, it definitely depends on the writer. Hell, Squirrel Girl beat Thanos one on one in a comic.
And Mar-Vell was suped up like 4 times. Zarek made him into a super Kree. Then he got the Nega Bands which turned him into a supreme bad ass. Then he was able to absorb solar energy to becoming even more bad ass. Then he was named “Protector of the Universe” and gained cosmic awareness on top of all of that. My biggest gripe with CM was that Mar-Vell went from an all time bad ass that could stand toe to toe with a Thanos into some dead grandma.
CM can't stand up to Thanos. Not now anyway. Thanos is basically above anyone but sky-fathers. He trounces powerful characters endowed with the Phoenix Force, like his son. Silver Surfer is beaten within a few blows by Thanos.
Stop looking at the highest end power of a character in the comics when it comes to the MCU. Feige will make defeating Galactus believable. And let alone what Feige could do with an Age of Apocalypse trilogy
Comic book origin CM and SW could absolutely stand up to pre-gauntlet Thanos. MCU's continuity or lore issue is seemingly making powers that are derived from fractions of 1 single stone being CM/SW's origin instead, and those have no business of being in the same neighborhood of Thanos with the gauntlet.
The only acceptable MCU character (based on the MCU lore) that can rival Thanos is Odin with Gungnir (his spear).
There have been somewhere around a million marvel comics issues published give or take. At least once every single avenger was powerful enough to be the most powerful character in the multiverse. Just let these versions of the characters play out.
Been saying it for over a year. Illuminati will be formed. Easter eggs for Namor in IM2 and Endgame. Was the first Marvel Mutant ever so you know Feige would love him to be the first MCU mutant. Form the Illuminati and then you have an easy in for Reed Richards and later Prof X.
Plus the more obvious one in Endgame (underwater earthquake). Would love to see Xavier introduced as the one who formed the Illuminati.
In the comics we can relate easily to Galactus and Thanos. One wants the sex, the other just wants to eat.
About to hop on the plane for work conference. Debating on starting IW then into EG or just jump right into EG. Either way it’s going to be a good week.
I just watched The Incredible Hulk for the first time. I don’t know why. Feels appropriate for a Monday, in hindsight.
I’ll be on a 14+ hour flight in a couple months for my honeymoon. If those two movies are on Delta I will for sure watch them back to back.
Decided to watch EG on the plane. What an emotional flight. Tears when she said I love you 3000. All I could think of was my little girls. When the sparkley circle things Dr. Strange does show up, one of the greatest moments in cinema. I’ve never had a boner on a plane but there I was.
Made the mistake of watching Professor Marston and the Wonder Women last year on a plane from London...oh boy.
