The Wild might have the worst lineup for this. This was the best I could come up with: Petr Sykora $14, Cliff Ronning $80, Joel Ward $11 Jordan Leopold $18, Tom Gilbert $63 Ilya Bryzgalov $11
They obviously snob the Canadian teams and it makes sense although they could change things up a little for a player like him. If mcdavid was in buffalo they would get a lot more exposure.
Q and Bobrovsky got us a home National TV game for the first time in a very long time. Usually the panthers end up on Thursday afternoon or late evening
do you really think that's why? I think the NHL and NBC just want to pander to the old, established fanbases and rivalries. it's really a shame they don't have the desire to promote and build new fanbases. it's like if ESPN/TNT just played Bulls/Knicks/Lakers/Celtics games all year no matter how good or bad the teams were.
Yeah the NHL just defers to the tried and true markets. There is no other reason to justify the Wings having eight national games.
I think it's interesting how the term "bridge deal" has become so commonly used it's almost like it's an official term.
Being owned by Comcast helps because they can just put the game on NBC sports with little to no effort by using the flyers broadcast, but you are absolutely right that the NHL has a scheduling problem.
reddit: "I used to ref with a guy from Halkirk, Alberta and this Reminds me of a story he told us once of a young Shane Doan. Apparently he comes from a religious family and doesn’t drink. Rookie hazing in Winnipeg - they order him shots. He reluctantly took one, but quickly realized they were all pop. Teemu Selanne apparently changed the order to look out for his rookie buddy."
Really good ep imo. "Can you just give me a haircut that just doesn't look like I got a haircut." Also the story about The Lemieux's convincing him to get a dog and then him walking into their house seeing Mario cleaning up his dog's massive shit was great.
« I turn the corner and Mario is cleaning my dog’s shit, this is not supposed to happen. It was backwards » lol Also, nobody wanted to go to lunch after practice with odelein. Lunch would turn to dinner and next thing you know it’s one in the morning and you’re like wtf just happened? That was more Whitney but Sid knew exactly what he was talking about. And the geno story « one year in super league « had me rolling
Byfield will be very appealing in next year’s draft. It will be closer than people think between him and lafreniere. Lafreniere being almost a year older might not help him. I still expect lafreniere to go first but byfield is very good
Lucas Raymond is going to push Lafreniere for first overall. He’s a March birthday as well which helps.
I haven’t seen him play much so I don’t know. Byfield is interesting, 6,4 with top end skills. Should be a nice top 5 again
Completely stole the game in the semi's against the US in the U18 world juniors as an under-ager. He's really good.
He was pretty good against Canada too, not unbelievable but he made a few great saves. it doesn’t help that Canadians goaltenders seem to shit the bed every time they get in a gold medal game.
I did not realize he was the same goalie as last year, he was phenomenal against the us last year. Great goaltending battle with spencer knight. He will be a top 15 pick, he will probably be the guy in the world juniors. Should be interesting. He has it all
He moves very well, rebound control was not perfect but he moves so well that it doesn’t really matter. 6’3 160 so he will be around 180-190 when he matures. Next vasi, not as big but quick and long
yeah, that article about hockey players being completely unable to find pants that fit has to be pretty accurate.
The disparity between hockey players lower bodies and upper bodies have to be unmatched by any other sport.

Vanbiesbrouck, who played 5 out of 20 seasons with the Panthers, and Bure, who played just 200 games with the Panthers. Then again they already have Wayne Huizenga and Bill Torrey's numbers retired.
Good trade for the red wings. We just couldn’t afford to sign him with our overpaid forwards like killorn, Palat, Johnson and gourde.
