So what’s the word on getting tickets to an English soccer game? I’m admittedly not a big soccer guy, so bear with me, but I’m headed to London later this week and looking into getting to a soccer game. Looks like the #Fulham game next Saturday is going to be our best option (based on flight times, location of airbnb, etc., etc.). That being said, anyone have any experience/guidance? I’ve looked and it seems like the clubs themselves sell them, but are we better off waiting until we get there? Is there any sort of secondary market? Any help is much appreciated lads and #GeauxFulham
Just buy them directly through Fulham bc they have a badass grounds, and theyre in the Championship so easy enough to get tickets. Plus its against Blackburn. Go to The Dukes Head across the thames before the match. https://www.eticketing.co.uk/fulhamfc/EDP/Event/Index/1107 much bigger pain in the ass getting good seats for the big EPL clubs. Usually you need to use the secondary markets which are pricey, unless you have a club membership or access to one to get tickets in advance.
I have bought them through the website before, and I’ve bought them from touts (scalpers) selling tickets when you get off the Underground at Putney Bridge station. They’re cheaper on the website but I’ve gotten pretty good seats from the touts. Either way works. Make sure to get to the area early enough to hit the pubs along the Thames and then walk to the stadium. It’s a great atmosphere in the middle of an upper class neighborhood and an absolutely beautiful stadium. Coincidentally my first ever Fulham match was vs Blackburn at Craven Cottage when both were in the EPL. This was in 2007 and there were 7 Americans on the pitch between the two lineups.
We had a great time! Bought tickets off Stubhub and went to a great bar before the game full of Leeds fans who are fucking nuts........hit up the White Horse before the game
Thanks guys, very helpful. Seems like it's just the experience we're looking for. Fran Tarkenton BayouMafia - Any thoughts on getting tickers in the Hammersmith End or Johnny Haynes Stand? I read their FAQ and while I wouldn't mind sitting with the more hardcore fans behind the goal, kinda like the idea of being in the 100 year old stands too. Is the obstructed view really an issue with the support poles? Price and availability seems to be comparable for either one. The only thing I'm a little wary of is our flight lands at 10:30 AM Saturday, then we've got to get through customs/baggage, get from Heathrow to Pimlico, drop our shit at the airbnb and then ride the Underground to the stadium.....3 PM start time for the game. Even if there are no issues/delays, it's going to be a little tight. Wish it wasn't such a rush to get there so we could enjoy the experience a bit more, but my rough calculations say we should be there by 2 PM or so. Is that realistic at all?
You will be cutting it close but I think you should be fine barring any delays. Support poles are a thing that’s why we sat towards the front of the johnny Haynes stand and the seats were awesome. Definitely a good time
Get an Uber from your hotel to Craven Cottage. That stretch of West London/Chelsea is high end residential so its a Tube deadzone. The Uber will get you closer to the stadium than the Tube, so it saves time. Also, those District Line trains to Wimbledon are inconsistent (next green line could easily be the one that terminates in Richmond, or Ealing Brdwy, or just Earls Court). So take Uber. Another time saving option is to have a car service pre-arranged at the airport. Those drivers - if you use a good service - know what they are doing to navigate traffic. I use Blacklane and the upcharge has been worth it if timing is important. The tube from Heathrow can be highly efficient if youre landing during rush hour, but youre at Pimlico or around there so you'd need to switch trains at Victoria.
I sat in the Hammersmith end when I went. All the standing supporters are way up in the top and back so you wouldn't really be with them anyways unless you got a ticket near the back. I'd sit Haynes if I went back because you'll have a much better view of the field and Fulham isn't really known for their raucous support. If the weather looks like it could rain, make sure to get seats under the roof as the front rows aren't covered. Sounds like everyone else has got you on tickets, but I just bought them through the website no problem. Soccer tickets are cheaper than you would expect. I think we paid about 25 pounds to be 5 rows up at both craven cottage, and also the same for front row midfield at a west brom game.
