Our three catchers not named Jake Rogers have played 127 games (including Hicks' starts at 1B and DH). They have 9 HR and 27 BB. Rogers' current 127 game pace would be for 42 HR and 85 BB. Obviously that pace isn't happening, but it was ridiculous they pretended for so long that he wasn't clearly the best player at the position.
Fuck Avila. Stop revealing what you plan on doing. The fucker came out in the off-season and said there was no market for Castellanos. Yeah, that’s really gonna help you trade his ass in summer.
I believe that Jorge Soler owes this Tigers' pitching staff a cut off any future earnings generated from this season considering how much damage he's done against them this year. He's up to 6 HR and an OPS somewhere around 1.400.
If Dombrowski gets fired, would Ilitch have the balls to hire him back? I promise to never call him Dumbrowski again if we bring him back, and fire Avila.
Why would Boston fire Dombrowski? And why would he want to come back? And why we want to target him to replace Avila?
A lot of the Boston media thinks he might get fired after this season. He probably won’t come back here. You’re right. Just saying, he’d be better than fat fuck Avila. I want Chaim Bloom as GM.
Check out that stretch of games we having coming up after the Mariners series. I could see us going 2-15
From the reports I've seen of people who watched it, his stuff was fine and was cruising until he just lost command in the 5th and got rocked. As long as the stuff is the same, I'm not worried.
He has always started the season hot, and has struggled down the stretch. Same thing happened to him in college.
Finally read this and it made me even more mad than I expected. I used to think it was 50/50 when he talked whether he was this stupid, or if he just believed we were. I don't think that's even a question anymore. I have zero doubts that he's legitimately this stupid. He constantly talks about "we're in year 2 of the rebuild" as if that matters, or that he wasn't on the job for 2 fucking years before the "rebuild" started. The Dodgers have a better system than us without ever tanking (and they even failed to sign a couple of first round picks during those four years). And worst of all, it pains me that I was kind of ignoring that for a while and just thinking it didn't really matter while Vinegar Strokes was right all along. FUCK.
He’s referenced team prospect rankings in the past too. That only tells you 1/2 the story. One we are not calling guys up, while other teams are. And the reason we are climbing is because we had the 1st and 5th overall picks the last two seasons. And will have the 1st overall pick next year too.
Just saw the box score for today’s game and saw alexander’s line. Wow. That’s gotta be a record in some sort for somebody that’s started 3 games then came in for relief for its fourth event (0 IP 4 H 4 ER).
The more I think of it, Avila and this regime hasn't done a single thing that I would consider "difficult" in his 4.5 years on the job. He took over a talented team and didn't make it better, flopped in FA when his owner gave him significant resources to spend (which I still blame Ilitch for, but Avila didn't take advantage). From the end of 2015 through the middle of 2017, he did nothing to improve the system other than not trade prospects (although 2016 actually could turn into a decent draft, 2017 was embarrassingly bad). Since then, he's overseen the worst team in baseball over the last 2+ seasons. He hasn't traded a single player unless he had to. He has one non-first round pick who looks like he could turn into something more than an org guy (Skubal). His best example of a "reclamation" type prospect from another team is probably Niko Goodrum (3 fWAR in 1.75 seasons). He's spent 10s of millions on players who had zero long term upside and turned out to be flops. Literally all he's done is pick in the top 5 and not fuck up to the point where he took someone people would call a bust 1 year after picking them.
I actually think the most impressive thing he’s done so far is basically sign every draft pick this year for slot. That somehow seems like a good encapsulation of his entire career as GM to this point.
Pretty much. I mean, why would they want to try something like that after the only non-first round success story they've got in the previous two drafts (Skubal) was signed for over slot last year?
Yo smeegsgreen im thinking a sweep by the Mariners. What about you? I hope Boyd gets rocked again. Fuck Avila for not trading him
Boyd will finish the year with an ERA over 5. Yeah, but keep asking for Glaybar Torres you fucking dumb fuck.
