They have the third best record in the national league. Cub fans are the fucking worst sometimes. We aren’t winning 110 games every year. Baseball at the top is not separated by much. This team is good enough to win the World Series... baseball is a long grind. Stay calm
If you think this team is good enough to win the title you are smoking crack. I love the Cubs as much as the next year but we have the same problems as last year and I get that we could get hot and make a run but with our inability to hit lefty hitting and our terrible record on the road we will have the same results.
I think any team who makes the playoffs can win the entire thing. Especially a team with the recent success as ours. I wouldn’t say we are odds on favorites but get in and you never know. I don’t see a single team in the NL this team can’t beat in the playoffs. Just need to get healthy and get Ben back.
Exactly, baseball's playoffs more than any other sport is dependent on who is the hottest team at the time, not necessarily who's the best.
That’s just not true. We were pretty hot from mid April to mid May. It’s how we jumped to ten games above five hundred so quickly. We went 13-2 over a fifteen game stretch at one point.
They played well for a 2 week stretch (3 months ago) and have been .500 since. Unfortunately I wouldn't call that "hot". I agree that the pieces are there, they're just maddeningly inconsistent
Now you're just making up arbitrary requirements for yourself for what is required to be hot. They also were 20-6 over a 30 day period from April 15-May 15, most people would consider that a hot stretch considering we started the season 3-8 prior to that stretch. Also you downplay 15 games as not being hot when in reality 15 games is all you need to be hot to win the World Series going from Divisional to Championship round.
There's nothing arbitrary about it, those are the numbers. You mentioned a hot streak in late April/early May which is fair, but since the date you listed they're 35-38. Before that streak they were several games under .500. They've looked somewhat better since the All Star break but my point remains: Outside of that early run they've been very inconstant for the majority of the season.
But that wasn't your original point at all. It was that they haven't been hot all season and they absolutely were during that stretch from April 15 to May 15. What part of the season they were hot is irrelevant, just that they were at some point which they were.
They played well for a couple weeks while the ivy was brown so I guess they've only been inconsistent for the other 90 games this season. The point was that they're inconsistent AF and the last 75% of the season thus far has given us little reason to believe that they'll just turn it on at the right time. I very much hope I'm wrong.
Someone should look up the numbers for this team without Addy in starting lineup. Team is really good. I think Theo fucked up some good mojo with that callup.
I’m not sure if that first batch of numbers is just his career slash line or care with RISP and 2 Outs Either way the second set of numbers 2019 are really good and encouraging moving forward
Looking at some of the numbers and reading about the progress some of our minor leaguers are putting up I really don’t understand how this system is ranked so low. Some fantastic talent coming up that’s for sure. Marquez, Davis, Amaya, Horner. Some really good talent
I don't think that's a overreaction at all, he has fucked up more than a handful of games this year. Like I said before I'm just ready for this season to be over with.
This team just isn't that good. We have 4 guys that can play so many positions which is great in theory but they fucking suck at all of them. Bote should never be playing 3rd and Happ is slow as fuck at 2nd.
Almora still on the main roster when his bat is awful and his defense isn’t positive this year is horrible roster management. He shouldn’t be in the starting lineup and he shouldn’t be on this roster.
It’s laughable all these sidewalk twitter fans and blue check mark guys who are bailing on a team in the middle of a division and playoff chase.
Bote is so fucking bad at 3rd base. He makes KB look like Arenado. And I’m not basing it off that one play. He’s been abysmal there all year.
Still think we are the worst sometimes. I knew back then this team was not good and I say it again. Can't wait for this season to be over.
Kohl Franklin, Ryan Jensen and him wrt pitchers. Pretty clear Brennan Davis is the crown jewel if he can just avoid the bad luck
