SugarShaun you need to try and get to Cardiff for Saturday day & night, ready for the final round of the 6 Nations
Sadly not possible for us as we have a flight to Rome early Sunday so taking the train back to London after the match
Gotcha. Going to be in Bath and Stonehenge tomorrow and won’t get back to London until around 18:30-19:00 so not really possible. Appreciate the tip though and gladly accept any for Saturday as well. Get in at 14:43
A bit late in the season but three wins in a row and scoring goals now. There’s something there going forward if we can hold onto these guys.
Strong finish to the season. Cheated out of an FA Cup semifinal. Just too young early on to be a threat for the playoffs. It’s a good group if we can hold onto them but I imagine we’ll get a number picked off because we can’t have nice things. Routledge and Dyer had big roles in the late season success but you wonder about their roles headed forward.
Apparently the answer to "who leaves this summer?" was Potter. He did a great job with the young talent and getting us back to playing attractive soccer. Sucks we couldn't keep for another year
Potter had them back to playing pretty ball but our American owners are no oil sheiks and we couldn’t keep him. We’ll see if the U-17 World Cup champion can keep it going. Also, still wondering how many more players leave this summer.
Time to get this thread back up top. Pretty pleasing preseason. winning matches with a high attacking press and solid passing. A little different style of play than the past few years with tons of similarities. Match today against Bristol Rovers then Atalanta Saturday. Need to keep Oli and figure out which Chelsea youngster is coming on loan lol. Keep VdH and who knows maybe optimism will ring true.
Jay Fulton is a scoring machine in preseason. Never saw this as part of his game in the past. Wonder if we could expect any of it to continue into the season.
I think Celina is going to be the key this season. If we keep him I think he has the biggest upside if anyone on the squad. He has real quality.
Honestly cant say I know enough about him to know whether he will automatically come in and expect to be #1. We've got a couple decently capable keepers already in Mulder and Nordfelt. Not that either was amazing when splitting time last year, they've both shown flashes enough though I'm not sure I really considered keeper a major concern going into the year. Guessing one will be gone before the window closes.
Losing McBurnie just before the season sucks. I guess we’re going to ride with Borja Baston this season.
Makes sense. I'm just assuming he will be the 1 as I don't think we'd loan him out to sit on someone's bench when he could do that for us.
Trust me we've been bitching about our keepers the past two years so they aren't exactly world class. He will certainly have a chance.
Yeah riding with Borja. Could be worse if we had already sold him. Of course we've also got Courtney Baker-Richardson lol
Watched the Hull match yesterday. Dyer had himself a game. I don’t know how these new signings are going to work in but having more attacking options is a good thing.
Yeah we really needed depth up front. I think Peterson is going to be a good one. Interested in seeing kalulu play with the pace he has, he could replace Dan James in a sense, although I think Peterson could too. Borja still leading the line for me more often than not even with bringing in Surridge and the other attackers. It's nice that there is some flexibility for all of them in regards to where they play though.
I like Celina better in the middle than on the wing. Byers has been doing well too so I wonder how that playing time ends up shaking out.
Yeah that was an impressive showing by Freddie between the sticks. The double save later on after the penalty was impressive. We were able to create some chances against what is likely to be a top Derby side. I like this squad we've got put together, some really talented youth with what seems to be a great manager for them. Can't believe it but it's nice to be super excited again about a Swans campaign. I can definitely seeing us fight for playoff contention if some things fall right.
I'll just catch the highlights. I was encouraged by the play Saturday and, like Cooper, a little disappointed we didn't find the back of the net. Khalulu looks interesting but clearly needs some more time to develop chemistry with his teammates.
Went the radio route and what a fucking snoozer for most of the match. The last 15 minutes though were a rush, nice to not be out after round 1.
Borja with 2 more today and another 3 points for the squad. Is there a new site for streams after r/soccerstreams got taken down? I don’t mind watching them a day later from the swans website, but live action would be nice too
Yeah really fun game to watch in the second half. We were absolute shit in the first. Really happy that Borja has been able to provide the goals, like a new transfer almost. No new sites I know of. Im paying for SwansTV in order to watch. And ESPN+ is broadcasting less games this year from what I heard.
Yeah following along in the first half sounded like we were getting handled and lucky to go into the half tied.
Very much so. PNE could have been up 2 or 3 to nil but we got lucky. We couldn't string 3 passes together without giving up possession. Incredibly frustrating half.
Brilliant performance again. Something about this squad we've got this year. They are hungry. Fall behind or even and I don't feel like all hope is lost like before. Sunday morning we got Birmingham at the Liberty but the weekend after that we get Leeds at Elland Road and I can't wait for that.
Another great performance at the Liberty. First half was a bit sluggish but we always had control if the match, you just knew the goals were going to come. Fun team to watch. Such a better feeling around this club than the past few years. Cup tie midweek then we get Leeds. So excited for that match early in the year.
