This week is the last week of my one and done. I need at least $150k in winnings to move into the money. I’m pretty much down to Bryson, Spieth, Leishman, and Benny An. Think I’m going Bryson in hopes the controversy motivates him What would you do?
Don't mind the Bryson play. I'd also look to see if you have and Presidents Cup bubble guys from either side left. Shit even the locks to make it like Oostie are stepping up their games in preparation
Yea I was going to go Oostie but forgot I used him early on. Probably some tournament he withdrew from on Thursday morning.
Typical sweetens round today, 40 on the front. 2 doubles from the middle of the fairway. 33 on the back when I didn’t hit any really shitty approaches.
Apparently Pinehurst is playing pretty tough at the US Am this week. Round 2 was suspended yesterday and just restarted but it looks like it's headed for a 20ish for 1 or 2 spot playoff to get into match play. Cole Hammer sits right on the cut line so he should be headed for the playoff barring anything crazy happening with the last few guys finishing their rounds this morning
I know in the past they'll stream the playoff somewhere but I haven't found anything about it yet. Match play coverage is live on FS1 this afternoon and the rest of the week too
#2 played to over a 77 scoring average, with #4 coming in just over 73. Apparently the greens on #4 are still insanely firm since they're so new. Cut line is at 5 over
These guys making par should go ahead and pack up their stuff. You have to figure there will be at least three birdies from the 27 guys playing that hole.
Awesome. The production isn’t great though. Been watching for 5 minutes before I knew A) who was playing and B) what group this was.
Hammer makes bogey from like 60 yards out in the fairway. Looked like he bladed his wedge followed by a 3 putt
Anyone use The Grint to post scores/get a handicap? You can get a handicap card on there and the local club I belong to through there is USGA certified, so I'm wondering if this handicap card is valid to travel with. My municipal club doesn't use GHIN, they use some other system, so I'm not sure if courses/tournaments would accept that. I recently read A Course Called Ireland and currently reading the Scotland one and I'm convinced I'm going to go play over there next year. A lot of clubs over there require a handicap card so I'm wondering what would be sufficient. IrishLAX2 I know you've been a few times, or anyone else have any experience?
St Andrews Old Course is the only one I’ve been to that actually made you show your handicap card. The rest list it on their site but then don’t check. The Old Course accepts The Grint too.
Maidstone was sick. Incredibly firm and fast from tee to green. The closest to real links golf I’ve come across in NY. Greens were pure and really fast though, with some awesome undulation in places. Awesome course for match play and one of the funnest courses I’ve played. One cool thing they do is time every single group that plays and posts it daily in the locker room. Start time, end time, and total round time, alongside the names of the people in the group. Promotes fast play among the membership. We got around in 3:50 and felt slow by comparison.
I use The Grint and love it since I don’t currently belong to a club. I’ve used it for member-guests that were pretty strict with no problem at all.
One of my buddies was an assistant pro at Medinah for a couple years a few years ago. He was pumped for this event because he said the course is impossible. He is no slouch of a player, would have an index of +2 has a SS of 110 and can hit the ball. He saw one of Rory's drives and said he can't even fathom the line Rory took over some trees.
They usually do an hour or so for free on Twitter (not sure for this week) but then you need pga tour live.
