just got a call from the myracehorse owner. they're officially approved in texas, and i will own 5% of dancing destroyer before the race. i'm excited she has been working lights out.
i don't love any of the horses on their website right now. if i had to pick one i would choose carpe vinium. long neck, straight legs and has been working well. stay as far away as possible from wayne o. probably wait until later in the year.
i'm not sure actually. if she wins she will make $30k in purse money. 10% of that goes to the trainer and 10% goes to the jockey so $24,000 to owners. i'm guessing they will keep that money in reserve for future expenses and then there might be distributions if she cashes in her next race. it looks like the only time there will 100% be distributions to the owners is when the horse is claimed or sold. in her 7/26 workout at churchill she was 3rd fastest of 95 horses working 4 furlongs (a half mile). the fastest horse was mr. money who just won the west virginia derby and has banked over $1 million and the 5th fastest was covfefe who just won the grade 1 test stakes at saratoga and has made half a million. if that workout was legit on 7/26 she might blow these maidens out of the water. if she wins by open lengths i have to imagine she jumps right into a stakes race.
so ultimately my advice would be to enjoy the races and not worry about getting distributions of ~$24 per share if she wins. if she wins this maiden race and then gets top 3 in a stakes race she is worth a quarter million bucks. this is all best case scenerio of course.
other horses in the race on Saturday: a $150,000 Uncle Mo yearling purchase trained by Asmussen a $250,000 Curlin yearling purchase trained by someone named Victoria Oliver who i've never heard of. Owned by G Watts Humphrey Jr, who has won a lot of races a $275,000 Into Mischief yearling trained by Rusty Arnold a $200,000 American Pharoah yearling purchase trained by someone I've never heard of so this is a pretty salty race
i'll be interested to see what the morning line is. if the people at ellis make DD something like 4-1 or less it will mean they've been watching her workouts and are impressed. if she is 8-1 or something then the morning line maker either wasn't impress or wasn't paying attention
also, if anyone is up late tonight and wants to watch horses run.. my filly Golden Lullabye is in a $20,000 allowance race at Retama Park in San Antonio with an 11:15PM post time. the two partnership horses i referenced in this thread and in the other partnership thread: Gold Speed Go targeting 8.24 maiden race at Remington and Trixie Racer targeting 8.29 debut
Cool, thanks. Yeah I was assuming it would take more than one win to start seeing any money. Just basically viewing the purchase as a reason to follow a horse and learn something. If I get any cash out of it, that’s a bonus.
ok it looks like there is only one distribution to shareholders per horse and that is when the horse is either sold, retired, or claimed. it makes sense since there is only a one time payment and no additional fees for training expenses or vet work. any purse money is deposited in a reserve account and then once the initial funds are depleted via training expenses or vet fees any purse money goes towards this.
Talked to them today. They said they got approval this morning and the website should be updated tomorrow.
Yeah they called me at like 9am I’m actually going to look at carpe vinium a little more and will let you know what I find
Didn’t think they’d get licensed so quick but since this weekend is my wife’s bday, I’ll probably go ahead with one tomorrow. Thanks for taking a look
After reading more and watching their breeze videos at the sale I’m sticking with carpe vinium. Guessing she runs in mid September at del mar If you are thinking of two shares look at power up paynter. He ran in July on a race taken off the turf and showed speed but was then stuck between two horses around the turn and then fanned five wide and flattened out. The website says he’s going to run 8/30 at Saratoga I may buy shares in both
Dancing Destroyer is 12/1 on the ML. Clearly the oddsmaker was more impressed with the pedigree of the other fillies. Sadly, I'll be off the grid and will have to watch the race after the fact.
High dollar Asmussen horses will always be short prices I would be stunned if more than 5-7 people not on this message board know about the work where she was 3/95 and between mr money first and Covfefe 5th If she is 12/1 when the race goes off I’ll be hammering that
big next two weeks for gallant knight stables. all two year olds making debuts 8.17 - Dancing Destroyer at Ellis 8.21 - Airline Drive at Retama 8.24 - Gold Speed Go at Remington 8.29 - Trixie Raver at Remington I talked to my trainers assistant this morning and we were talking about the decision to geld Gold Speed Go before his first race. Apparently his nuts were so big that they were inhibiting his stride.
i would prefer annahilate of the ones we haven't spoken about. they're both expected on the track in the fall, and the breeders of annahilate kept 30% of the horse which is usually a really really good sign.
i'm glad someone else has finally realized how addicting owning racehorses is. wait until one you owns wins. the first horse i ever owned, valentine street, won his first race for me. i have a handful of family friends who all own racehoreses and their response, every single one of them, was you are fucked now
awesome. Annihilate was the one I liked originally based on me knowing absolutely nothing. Added to the stable
i'm going to wait until they name a trainer but as long as it's someone good and who isn't a drug cheat i'm going to buy 2.5%+ of him
also he was a may foal so it is not unusal for those horses to be held until later in the year. it's like the kids in high school in the same year where one was born in june and he's a better athlete than the kid born in april. horses who were born in january or february 2017 will be more developed and quicker to the races than ones born in may
my racehorse filly that is running in the grade 1 alabama on saturday. she won the indiana oaks a month ago. she is probably worth $1m as a broodmare. no clue what the share price was, but what a fun ride that would be.
Even if you aren’t at the race you can order a winners circle picture from the track photographer if one of the horses wins
Took photos off their website for power up paynter and framed them for her to put up in the house and her office. She’s a very proud owner. the other two are mine and I didn’t tell her in case my horses end up being better. She’d hold a grudge
i pay for rtn.tv it looks like you can get a daily pass for $10 if you are in a state where betting on horses is legal, sign up for tvg. you can watch on their app
Dancing Destroyer down to 5/2 at the track. Got in at 12/1 on win place and show and will have my investment back if she wins. Come on Double D
That was a pretty damn impressive debut. Won’t be any issues getting out of the gate with this one The horse that won was a $200k American Pharoah who had a similar first race of speed and get tired and then won her second race. I think the same will happen with DD It hard to win their first race. They don’t really even know what’s going on. Next time she will know what the deal is
have two horses running this week. airline drive is 2-1 at retama park in san antonio tomorrow evening and on saturday gold speed go is 9-2 morning line at remington park. there is a ron winchell homebred in that race who will be favored.
Fuck me Flight delayed by 3 hours so I will probably miss her race She is the first one I bought as a yearling who I watched grow up This sucks
Gold Speed Go wins fist race. Watched in the pebble beach 19th hole with a bunch of hicks from Arkansas What a great way to cap the weekend
