Mother of God regarding rowing from Reddit. I want this so bad. Hoping priced around bike, but honestly don't really care. From Reddit.

Basically confirmed (ed: a rowing product) by everyone but Peloton at this point.

Heck. Peloton has registered www.pelotonrow.com (for a year or 2 now)

Should be way easier to implement then the Tread. Will weight wayyy less. Be wayyy less expensive. Looking forward to purchasing.

I don't know how you guys do it with outputs. I think some of it is mental for me where I don't push as hard as I can...I think I am also taking a lot of beginner/low impact rides with the Mastering the Basics 6 Week Program that don't ask you to push. But my quads are burning right away whenever I start a ride. I am learning the differences of being locked into the pedals so I don't always have to "push" them like a recreational bike so my stroke is improving. But still learning I guess.

I will say that when I started just a few weeks ago even going to 45 resistance felt like torture but now can sustain it for a good amount and it doesn't bother me really. I just need to learn to mentally push myself to be more uncomfortable.

I don't hit the outputs that some of the mutants in this thread put up. My advice, don't worry about it. Focus on achieving realistic goals that you set for yourself and making progress that way. My brother has the bike and we're built differently. I will never be able to compete with him on these rides.

First, I have almost 700 rides and 6k miles. If us long timers weren't "mutants", what would it say about the product?

Sub, with instant pain, I would check bike fit. Google Christine's bike fit video. Seen it make a huge impact for people with similar complaints about discomfort and output. I changed my fit a little two months ago and Achilles pain was gone soon afterwards - lowered seat to take constant pressure off Achilles per articles I read.

Regarding speed, there is no substitution for practicing speed and pushing your boundaries to stretch out your outputs. Power zones are a good way to explore that bc power zones rides will force you to ride at your speed threshholds after it tells you what they are. Those more than anything make me faster by proving to me I can handle it. My comfort zone is high resistance, I force myself to ride speed.

Agree with Baumer, too, Peloton isn't an evenly stacked deck for al kinds of reasons, including errors bars in accuracy of bikes (@ +- 10% per Peloton). Measure against yourself and watch the progress.

It's a good point as I never really walked through the right fit. I have tried to guess at what it should be but was never quite sure. Interestingly all of the tutorial videos built into the bike's UI doesn't include this.

I found significantly more power/comfort when I raised my bike seat and was more comfortable leaning over like every tour rider ever. Getting the bike properly aligned was basically my biggest tip to improving next to riding regularly.

I've made a big effort this summer towards getting in shape (and i'll post about it in the keto thread in a few weeks about what i've done after labor day) but my outputs were hilariously low compared to just about everyone in here when i first started. improvement just comes with time. i was curious and i looked at my numbers on non-beginner/low impact rides:

    upload_2019-8-14_11-17-34.png

I was low 200s for 30 min rides (my preference) up until the start of the summer, when I started getting in shape and started riding regularly. now my best is 442. so i'm certain everyone can improve a significant amount based on where they're at now.

Was in a live encore ride last night that was a lot tougher. About 20 minutes in, a 20s female holding 500 output and started late blew by the leaders on her way to 1300 for 45 minutes. The problem actual freaks on Peloton have is all the doctored bikes make really high totals unbelievable. For those who don't know, hacking a bike is really easy, and Peloton has made viewing the tops of leaderboards harder in order to hide this and not reward them.

I finished 3rd among seemingly legit riders, and the two riders ahead of me dragged me along to a new PR. Emma has been delivering ass kickings lately.

Took a few extra days off the bike to work on strength and some recovery. Hopped on a 30 minute low impact yesterday to get back in the groove and noticed 20 minutes in I was only 3 behind my previous PR. Ended up easily chasing that down and beating it which was pretty crazy for that type of ride for me.

I am getting close to riding again unfortunately my hip and back got a little hurt yesterday from too much outlet back to school shopping. I am hoping to be at full strength by November-December but I’ll start training for a marathon in April. Thinking of going purely peloton digital because right now I feel like I am throwing away $20-$40 a month because I am mostly just using the digital.

    Thoughts? What will I lose?

About 20 a month. I don’t know what I’ll lose just seems like saving a couple hundred bucks might be worth it but I really don’t know what I’d lose. I’d obviously be able to use the bike but have no idea what I if anything will be on the monitor.

It's not very pleasing to the eye, to me. Each of the "modules" looks like it is hiding behind the others. Just first reaction it looks like it loaded incorrectly. Kinda hard to explain but that was my instant reaction. I thought something was wrong.

I'm sure what's there is helpful though.

I don't get the new home screen, yet, but I fear and loathe it per TMBer policy on change. I'm sure it will be fine.

Completely lost all leg power and will to live with 12 minutes left in tonight's 45 min ride. 12 minutes of complete and utter misery. I'm way overcooked.

I have no idea since I've never had Digital only. Can't think of anyone here who has used both digital and whatever the $40/mo one is called.

Peloton Reddit has a shit ton of users and answers to just about every question if you can stomach Reddit's format.

“Digital” is just what the app is called. It is the one for those who have the bootleg bikes. Everyone who has the bike gets the app for free. If I went purely digital it think I’d lose the use of the use of the monitor. But, since I won’t be riding for a while and when I do I’ll mostly be running I am thinking if it I should do it to save the money. Just wondering what people who only use the app think.

Didn’t notice until after I looked at the metrics, but the first ride that the new home page recommended was a ride from November of last year.

Planned on taking it easy and hid the leaderboard and ended up hitting a PR

If you do digital only you lose the ability to calculate and see the power zones, what your cadence/resistance is and the leaderboard. I think you are still able to see your heart rate. So essentially the whole monitor.

You can see heart rate using digital.

Also- anyone ever been to the NYC studio? I'm actually kinda confused of when they do all of the 20 minute classes as the schedule only has 30, 45, and 60. Unless those 30 minute "walk in free" classes are the ones that end up being 20? Not sure how it all works but I'm in the city for a little bit and would check it out if worth it.

Below is a message from Reddit Where he says you can see it "here", there are links on the reddit page ():

    1. You can ride in studio as many classes as you like.
      • 1st class is $20.

      • All additional classes are $32/each

      • Keep in mind mid-day classes are often marked "Walk In Free" on the schedule here. If that's the case, be there at least 15mins before class starts and if there's an empty seat its yours free.
    2. You can book 1 week in advance. The popular instructors/rides at peak hours fill up quickly. You can look at the schedule to see how full they are anytime, here.

    3. You'll get free shoes to wear, a locker, free soaps/shampoos in the locker room and towels. As you enter the studio, there's water bottles in a basket on your left. On the bike will be a workout towel. The bike will have a tablet about the side of an iPad mini, and you can login to keep your ride data. During class you see cadence/output/resistance and there's a hide-able leaderboard. ProTip: The LB during class won't show you home riders. The studio and home riders get combined a little bit after the class.

    4. Here's their contact info: (646) 277-4497 or [email protected]. Sarah is the manager and she's really nice to everyone, she usually is the one responding on that email and gladly answers everyone's questions...don't be afraid to reach out.
To book a class at https://studio.onepeloton.com you'll need to create an account. It's a separate system unrelated to your Peloton profile, and only used to book the bike and pay.

Have fun! If you want some friends, post up the planned class(es) you're attending and maybe some folks in the city will join ya, if you want!

completed my century ride today with my girl hmc_nyc. have to admit i'm slightly disappointed i didn't get a shoutout considering it was my 100th ride and i kicked ass (finished 5th) and the top 4 all got shoutouts but she didn't give any milestone shoutouts at all. it was only my second live ride and i didn't follow instructions anyways - i rode hard for a 45 min low impact. i just took the class because of the possibility of the shoutout.

686 kj :) PRed. basically just in the saddle riding at 55%-60% resistence for ~95% of the class.

So the studio experience is fun. I've really only done one gym cycling class before which is in a typical bright room. This one is in basically a tv studio so it's certainly unique. The picture is before class started but once it starts it gets really dark like you see on the screen at home.

Becuase it's in studio I started with a lot more energy. Half way I realized maybe too much but pushed through. Wasn't a hard ride anyway. (30 min pop). Beat 30 min personal best by 23%.

I feel like my bike at home's cadence is reading slower than the studio bike today. Either that or my adrenaline was kicked in and the speed felt much more effortless. Not sure.

how big is the entire complex? there's the tread studio + the yoga studio + the bike studio + i presume locker rooms but does it feel pretty small?

how much time did you have in the actual studio for a 30 min class? does it feel like you're getting herded in and out? curious how it works with the schedule because i would've assumed they'd record in hour-long blocks so they'd do a 20 min, 15 min, 10 min, and/or 5 min ride in that other 30 min window.

i've read on reddit that most people PR in the studio because the bikes there are so well-ridden so their calibrations are off; some people end up deleting that ride because it skews their numbers. but i suppose the adrenaline is a factor, too.

So it's only cycling here. Tread and yoga (and I assume strength classes) are all in another NYC location. the studio is a small store (for the bikes and apparel), and then you walk behind it where there's check-in (where you get shoes), a small juicebar with a lounge area. The lounge is basically the waiting area for the next class.

Then a tiny hallway that leads to the tiny locker rooms and the studio. The locker rooms have a couple of showers with towels which is nice. So although it's small is equipped well.

Then the studio itself. Tightly packed 40ish bikes on 3 levels surrounding the stage. Towels for biking are waiting on the bikes and you just login and get ready once inside.

I'd say 40-45 min. They open the doors 10-15 min before so everyone can get logged in and what they need. The instructor is already getting mic'd right away so she's welcoming everyone in and telling you about the ride. If you need to change weights or whatever else you have time to do it. People can start warming up right away and Emma was already talking it up as a warm-up.

Once it's over, yes you are asked nicely to unclip and head out. There's not an immediate "post ride stretch" class or anything other than the quick one they do on the bike. I actually have no idea when they film classes less than 30 min since everything in the studio schedule is 30 or longer.

One more pro tip. Theres an unbelievable macaroon place like 2 doors down. Perfect for after riding.

I did a 20 min Tabata ride today w/ Cody. My first Tabata ride was only 15 min with Robin and i almost died; it was an "incline" Tabata ride. This one was SO much easier. Not an easy ride, per se, but way easier. I'd do this a thousand times in a row before re-taking some of Olivia's rides I've tried to do.

Looks like Tabata is now in the menu. Just not incline Tabata...

Well guys, I finally did it. I hit the goal I set for myself back in January when I purchased the bike. Having my son in May slowed me down but I achieved my first long-term goal today: 304 output in a 30 minute HIIT class with Robin. I feel great. I wasn't dying afterwards, either.

    New goal - 350!
