it's way more then hope right now. All the signs point to us. Luongo announcing was the first domino.
Por que no los dos? Haven’t gotten actual confirmation, but there is a lot of positive energy coming out.
I thought Bob was always the primary and panarin was a nice to have bonus to we could land him. We aren't the Knicks. Why is everyone reacting like we are?
Because they set the expectation that both were the goal months ago. Then we’re the big favorite to sign both for a couple months. Finally, they all but leaked that they secured both. Now the time is here and they are likely going to fall short on panarin. They played this horribly from a PR perspective.
you skipped the last part, they all but leaked that they were getting both. Tallon was swaggering the entire weekend everytime he talked to someone in the media. 24 hours ago, pretty much every reputable source was saying the panthers were getting both because they were acting like they got both. Then the Islanders showed up with a price the Panthers haven't matched yet. You are absolutely right to say not to celebrate before the paper is signed, but the organization absolutely played this poorly.
"only" giving Bob a NMC for the first 5 years is a small win. Allows them to trade him in those last two years when it is most likely his game starts to decline. I hate the Stralman signing. too much money for a guy who is on a pretty steep decline. That could easily be a deal they regret as soon as this year. Connelly: meh. the disappointment in not landing Panarin is probably clouding me a bit here, but he's a slightly better Bjugstad that they just gave 4 years to. definition of meh imo. Acciari: never give term to 4th line players. Overall, they hit a double today. It could and should have been a lot better, but it is what it is. This is what being a Panthers fan is. Panthers are a team trying to find ways to make it work when they are constantly battling a ton of strikes against you.
All of this is true. But getting panarin would have allowed the panthers to trade some of those forward prospects for badly needed defensive help. Apparently we offered a similar deal he signed with the rangers and he turned it down. Unfortunate, but have to move on at this point. It’s definitely a big blow, but when you are a team with a worse history then the Cleveland Browns, you have to expect to miss on guys like panarin.
only one I guaranteed was Bob. Unfortunately we came up short on Panarin. Was told we offered 11m which including taxes is more then what the Rangers offered him.
GOAT Don’t even think he knew how to play hockey, he’d just hop on the ice and immediately start a fight
He’s actually an outstanding youth hockey coach. Never got to play for him, but every time I faced one of his teams, they were way better coached than my team.
i Remember younger when we played American teams it was a challenge when we were just a district team, when I got to elite hockey we were toying with them. Bring on the whole Detroit city and we would’ve spanked them.
Another slow start to a Panthers season. Drink. And barkov has looked really off. He will likely rebound soon but still needed way more from him to start.
So this game is weird. But I'm thinking the whole strategy of loading up on offensive defensemen isn't really working out in the long run when we lack guys who can you know...defend.
first goal today was maybe the only goal all season he should have stopped. team in front of him has been making catastrophic errors non-stop in front of him.
absolutely. And their non-defensive defenseman is absolute trash. I never want to see Josh Brown again. guy is absolutely terrible and a horrible partner for Yandle.
Shootout shit is annoying but only 2 reg losses in 10 games is solid. I'll take it as we aren't in a huge hole to start the year. Panthers - 10 games, 12 points Barkov - 10 games, 12 points (all assists!)
