just from reading generally, it sounds like you guys are more concerned with staying under 25 net carbs and not worried about going over your macros on protein. Is that the case?
I’ve been doing 25 net carbs, I’m much more likely to cheat on protein than anything but I keep tight on calories and carbs the most.
Yeah was saying carbs first then fat, because I think we’re 99.999% certain we’re good on protein. At least I felt like I was.
I watch net carbs and cals. Most of the protein I eat has more fat than protein, so I don’t really track macros as much. I still think it’s a calories in/out game. If you’re eating in a deficit and keep the principles discussed, I think it will work. Hell, I saw on twitter a guy drank all beer for a month and lost like 40 lbs. He had between 2-5 beers per day. He was overweight, but not like more than 350lbs or something.
Yeah, it’s more the pizza/beer/chips and dip combo I worry about. I maintained pretty well for 3 months when I wasn’t doing Keto eating whatever I wanted 1 day per week and didn’t gain any weight, so once I hit my goal weight I will try that again. There were some numbers on that scale back about 6 months ago I never want to see again, so If things start to slide, I will tighten up.
since it seems to be an update day in 2+ months i’m only down 9lbs which is fine but i’ve gone from 33” to 30” pants and L to M shirts
I am planning to eat whatever Saturday night because we are out of town with friends and just want to see how it goes...but already annoyed with the few lbs I will put back on because of it... #deardairy
Had a moment of weakness today. A student brought in specialty pizza from a local place (I work at a Sports Rehab Clinic). Resisted it hard until she brought out my favorite pie from there....and then proceeded to eat a shit ton. Haha it was so good. And then a well known patient of mine brought donuts on her discharge day and I had 2. Gah, disappointed in myself but it was so good. Not going to hit my goal this week.
Just have to get back on! Had 4 ipas and a massive fucking burger and bun last night. Felt like shit until lunch but it was worth it.
I’m now less than 3 pounds from 200, which will be 45 down since April 1st. I’ve started walking 3-5 miles a day with a couple of days missed each week and I’ve peeled off like 6-7 pounds in the last two weeks. Hoping to continue that because I’m really ready to eat pizza and I plan on allowing myself to smash as much pizza as I can once I hit 200 before loosening the reins a little bit and allowing myself to cheat a little more regularly (it’ll be my first day over 25 net carbs since April). I plan on giving myself 3-4 cheat meals a month, continue to walk 3-5 miles a day and attempt to get to a goal of 185 next.
Started the keto last night. Going to try to be pretty strict for 2 weeks and see how I do. I’m 6’1” 172-175 and just don’t feel great about myself. I’ve never had to worry about what I ate before but 35 is here and I don’t work out much anymore. Pants are fitting too snug and having kid #2 has made my current diet horrible. Have been stress eating a bunch of unhealthy fast food for lunch and doing sweet tea and hoping this can get me back on the right track. My wife and I do pretty well for dinner but we both work and instead of take out once a week it’s crept up to 2-3. My hope is to dedicate to this and hit the reset button on what we’ve been doing. Want to lose 7-10 lbs and then just maintain.
Is IF the consensus to break a weight plateau? Lost a bunch of weight but have been stuck for about 6 weeks hovering.
I started last Thursday. I've been sticking to the diet doing under 15g of carbs but was constipated and as of last night I've been pissing out of my butthole. Ive been pretty bloated also, Im really hoping this goes away in the next few days. Any helpful ideas to get passed this would be appreciated thanks. Been drinking plenty of water, adding sodium, and cream of tartar.
So I just intermittently fast always because I don’t eat breakfast ever, and I eat between 1-8 PM most days. I’ve lose 42 pounds in 4 months, sticking to 25 net a day. I’ve recently started exercising which I didn’t do at all for the first 3.5 months and I’ve dropped from 210-202 in about 2-3 weeks. I also ate pizza for the first time in four months last Thursday and I’ve maintained without gaining any weight. I still weigh morning and night, but no longer track in an app because I eat the same things for lunch every day and dinner I make things I know are already very low carb. I plan on allowing myself to cheat 2-3 times a month from here on out, but my next goal which I’ll take much longer to get to will be 185. Which would be 60 down from my start weight on April 1st.
Stuff with a bunch of erythrytol in it makes me pee out of my butt, but it’s such a good substitute for sugar that I just get over it. What are you eating to stay under 15 carbs? That’s super low, are you getting any carbs with fiber? That might help.
I'm guessing its under 15g but the more I think about it probably under 25g because of stuff that's not known. I usually eat 3 eggs and bacon/sausage breakfast. Sometimes just the eggs with hot sauce. Lunch is usually a salad with chicken, no tomatoes, Italian avocado oil dressing less than 1 carb a serving, a little advocado. And for dinner usually chicken with vegetables. Sometimes s burger.
I haven't been using that but I probably need to up my sodium and potassium. Only on day 5 but hopefully this goes away in a day or two.
I had a rough workout yesterday and gave in to some rice in my bowl from Chipotle. It was fucking glorious. Ready to get these last 14-15 lbs off me and look at something like Primal to maintain.
Been off Keto for about a month and a half after falling off the wagon for vacation. Struggling to get motivated to get back on...that Keto flu and butt piss were real for me. Heading to the grocery store tomorrow to reset the food at the house, but I felt more excited the first couple starts.
They make some specific Keto coffee flavors, some super coffee stuff. I am not a big coffee guy but there’s MCT oil along with 6 g of fat and 10 of protein. Gets my digestive system going and is an appetite suppressant. I’ve had a much better schedule since starting that a few weeks ago. Although I know nothing about that life. Currently on vacation at a cottage on Lake MI. Getting back into it on Friday and the wife is joining me. She’s the matron of honor in a wedding in about a month. I bet her that she will lose 10-15 lbs if she stays strict with it. My view the next few days. Eating ice cream every night to this has been awesome. Looking forward to hitting the charge again tho. Keep it up boys!
I realized the view was the same in both so I deleted one. Just looked. Are you blind? Where are these toes filthy? There may be some sand on them but I have been swimming in that big ass lake all day. Zero filth, haha!
I did W30, actually today is day 31, so I am done. I was able to actually complete it while still maintaining under 40 net the entire time and under 20 net 90% of the way. Dropped 16 lbs so it was worth it, biggest key for me, no alcohol. Just something else that some of you might want to try if you are at a plateau. Meals definitely are harder though. Edit: And fasting is nearly impossible for me on W30. Others may be able to swing it but I cannot.
I don’t use reddit often and don’t know how exactly to navigate that site. Can someone post the intro to Keto that I think was on reddit? It was a basic overview of what happens, what to expect, etc. Wife wants to try it and that will be helpful for her to read. I read it, but can’t seem to find it. Thought it was pinned in the OP, but don’t see it...
Back on the wagon tomorrow AM after a 4-day binge on a work trip. Kinda excited to see the gain. Very tired of how shitty I feel.
This? Hope so. https://www.reddit.com/r/keto/wiki/keto_in_a_nutshell?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app
Been doing it since 12/31 Lost 30 total so I am done losing....wife is at 50+ and still going adding more fruits to my diet and never going back to a high carb diet Haven’t felt this great in years and haven’t had a migraine since I started. I used to get them 2-3 times a month Learned to like a lot of veggies I never really had before...turnips, radishes, etc
A splash of skim milk probably has <1, and almond milk is zero net. Even half and half only has .6/serving. It’s really not a product you need to worry about unless you’re using it for the sugar and not the cream.
