The 2016 Charleston shows were some of the weakest attended (and played) I’ve ever done. Will still try to swing all 3 nonetheless.
been trying to figure out a way to pull the whole tour off without spending a ridiculous amount of money but it doesn't seem feasible. definitely doing Charleston, may book a round trip to Pittsburgh with a 6 am return flight as well
Charleston would be a relatively cheap 3 night run for me. $240 round trip flight, hotel on points. ....until I started eating at restaurants downtown.
Have a friend that lives there, but he's going to be swamped with requests from NY/NJ friends too. And we've got a Groupe going to Charleston at the end of Sept. SI doubting I make it.
3:00 or 4:00 start right? Watch game at bar > right into coliseum. If you lose? Fuck it. You’re going to a Phish show. If you win, Party Time.
Missed like 5 cfb opening weekends because of Dick’s. I regret nothing, but postseason may be different. Forgot about the game starting at 4, so we’re good
Lets be real though. If all us bammers are there we are going to be huddled up together in the corner of a bar or hotel room biting our nails and pounding bourbons, freaking out.
There’s a large Bama contingent at Dick’s every year and everyone’s always packed in the little sports bar there until the very last moment. Great times.
Watching last years SEC championship game in bar would’ve been horrible. Though I do prefer to watch big games by myself
Disco Biscuits are back! Know a lot of people who hated these guys, but they were on fire before they took their hiatus. Kinda stoked to see them back on tour.
I didn't know they took a hiatus. Don't they have a fest every year? Saw them several years back at the Tabernacle before NYE, was interesting. Didn't hate it but not my favorite either.
They kept doing Camp Bisco and did the occasional show, but didn't do an actual tour, so they considered it a hiatus. I'm kind of in the same boat where I enjoyed most of the shows I saw, but they were by no means my favorite band ever. I really just hated their fanbase more than anything.
Half expecting to see a bullshit 3 city run like phish just pulled, but the verbiage sounds like they might start doing 50 shows a year again. So pumped. They took the string cheese touring model. Couple of Colorado runs, a fest or two, a fall event, and NYE. I was there for the whole run in ‘16 hanging out with all you damn bammers coming from the playoff game
Never realized this existed until just now, but someone made a full length documentary about Coventry. Just so happens to be my first show and a truly unforgettable weekend. Drove all the way to Montreal with 2 of my best friends and went to Coventry on the way back. Still to this day, probably the best trip I’ve ever been on. https://www.weenjoyyourself.com/
A buddy and I drove from Tuscaloosa in a single cab extended bed 2500 Chevy. Picked up PrinceWimbley in Burlington. That was a wild time. Thinking back on the wait to get in, the mud, etc. Man. What a trip.
My first shows were supposed to be Coventry, but I was 16 at the time and my parents said I could only go if my dad chaperoned. Long story short, dad got some sort of illness that spring/summer and decided sleeping in a tent for 3 days wouldn't be a great idea. Instead, he took me and a buddy to Camden on 8-12-2004 (the show immediately preceding Coventry). Despite not being able to go to Coventry, it was a hell of an experience at 16 years old. We got to the lot and immediately parted ways with my dad and just went and did lot things and then experienced The Phish SET 1: Wilson, You Enjoy Myself -> Ghost > Maze -> Catapult -> Maze, The Moma Dance, Horn, Pebbles and Marbles SET 2: Piper > Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley[1] > Cavern > Limb By Limb > Julius > Rock and Roll, Scents and Subtle Sounds[2] ENCORE: Lawn Boy, Frankenstein [1] No vocal jam. [2] No intro. The beginning of Catapult featured Mike, Trey and Page singing “Wash Uffizi drive me to Firenze” to the Catapult melody. Sneakin' Sally did not contain a vocal jam. Prior to Scents, Trey teased My Friend My Friend. Scents did not have the intro. At the end of Scents, Trey, Page and Mike left the stage while Fish continued drumming along to the guitar loops. After Frankenstein, Trey announced that everybody traveling from Camden to Coventry should wait until Saturday morning to arrive due to the rain in the Northeast Kingdom. This show was simulcast on “The Bunny”, the official Coventry radio station.
Clarification. Picked up PrinceWimbley who rode all the way from Burlington to Coventry in the back of said extended bed of the 2500 Chevy in the cold rain, under a sheet of plastic. Won't ever forget leaving the fest in the back of the truck seeing the purple sky and mountains. Full on Mountains in the Mist moment.
Let’s switch to awesome Phish fests for a moment. Clifford Ball, Went, and Lemonwheel all today. I’d pretty much pay whatever relisten asked if they started charging.
Following up on my post last week, went to moe./Blues Traveler in Dallas on Saturday and had a blast. Had front-row, center-stage seats, and got all fucked up and acted like an idiot. I must have caught Popper's eye because he tossed me one of his harmonicas during the set. I was on a double date with another couple who is not into good music, let alone jam bands, so I went full-on wook just to make them uncomfortable. Was noodling all over the place, playing Popper's harmonica, and openly doing illegal substances in front of them. They left after Blues Traveler played its set. Fun show all around. I got there for the tailend of G-Love, which was better than expected. Blues Traveler came on next. I had never seen BT live, and they exceed expectations. In fact, I've been on a mini-BT kick all week. After BT's set, moe., BT, and G-Love did a collaboration set where they just played covers. Deep Elem Blues and Can't You Hear Me Knockin' were the highlights. moe. came on last and shredded. It had been about 10 years since I'd seen them, and it was well worth the wait. Got a couple of crowd favorites in Kyle's Song and Recreational Chemistry, and at least one new song that was solid. They played Immigrant Song for the encore, but I don't remember it well. After the show, apparently I walked to a self-serve froyo spot where you pay based on weight. In case you're curious, you can fit at least $23 worth of froyo and toppings into one of the big cups. Passed out in the uber with $23 worth of froyo all over me and the car, and then got home and terrified the 17 year old sitter. Capped off the night with some nice married sex. All and all, a successful night on the town. You have fun Det. Frank Bullitt ?
Like many others in the south in my age range I believe, my first show was 3/1/03 Greensboro. My brother's first show was Cypress. I really don't know how you move forward with your life after something like that.
I haven't listened to it in a few years. It's okay upon relisten. First half of 2004 was a lot better than the second half, if my memory is accurate.
My first show was Charlotte 7/7/99. I was 15. At that time, I owned Hoist, A Live One, and Billy Breathes and a cassette tape of side 2 of Junta. I did not know any Phish songs that were not on those albums. I remember being semi-disappointed because they only played a few of the songs that I knew. In my mind, they were withholding the "hits." I remember complaining to some weathered 1.0 tour rats in the lot after the show and not getting a warm reception.
We intentionally arrived a little bit late due to the extended event time (like 4 hours), so we missed the opener. I have seen BT a couple times, so I was more interested in Moe. While I didn't know any of their songs, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire set. Wife was down to stay the whole time which I appreciated. We saw a couple up at the front acting a fool which turned out to be a guy she went to HS with. it was funny to watch them going from dancing to quasi-fighting/separating to hugging and back. On the drink front, she had a topo chico and I had a lime topo chico. Never saw the froyo station. Thought the venue was nice/clean but their managers should have picked a much smaller place. I will definitely catch them the next time they come through. The schedule showed David Sanborn is coming in a few weeks so I need to look up that show.
New Biscuits Album otw announced with the New Years Dates. I mean their studio stuff is hot, wet, summer sidewalk trash... but new material and hopefully a tour. LESGETTIT
They missed the perfume was a revolutionary album with the way it was produced. Uncivilized area was also really good. Just hoping for new songs. Even if they are champions-tier Brownstein Dr Seuss songs
In classic Lockn fashion, weather delayed the start today. Wish I was there but we didn't make it this year. Trey already sat in with Khruangbin to open the evening. Gary Clark Jr on now. JRAD later.
I got 1x for each night via lottery. Unsure if I’ll be able to go yet, but if I can’t I’ll let you know first.
