How many ped references would Bill make if he was talking about any other 42 year old qb being able to run faster now than 10 years ago?
I just ordered Mizzen and Main but couldn’t find the ringer code so used honey to get $10 off instead. Not great work there Bill. Tried to give him credit.
Mina... I like you... but why did you come in and just immediately start talking about the fucking pats. my god
i had seen Kimes on TV and read some of her writing before but that was my first time listening to her on a podcast she seems way too talented to be at the current iteration of ESPN
Binge Mode: Star Wars. Well that will fill a hole in the content market. Not much in the way of Star Wars recaps out there
Bill sounding like bill on the Luck news. Dude bitches about people being upset about tweets while talking about those tweets on his show that people are getting upset about. You can tell he wants to do the “this millennial omg he fucked his team” hot take, but no longer has the courage to be on an island. And of course, the Patriots come up often.
Late to the party on Mina Kimes but I came away very impressed. I think she is a future star somewhere.
I forgot my lukewarm take Bill said of Luck, “maybe he’ll announce”. Ok. Luck knows the game, but there’s no evidence he can announce. In fact, what I do know is that Luck has a really deep and awkward sounding voice. I think this is a clear sign Bill’s hearing is fucked, and that’s why 90% of Ringer podcast hosts have annoying voices.
Yeah Luck could be the best analyst on earth and he still couldn’t do announcing with that voice. This is part of the reason Romo is the perfect announcer; he’s got a great announcing voice to go along with the insights he provides.
how were the Heat the last team that was hated? I know he wants to suck Kevin Durant's dick as much as possible but he can't be THAT oblivious to how much people hated the Warriors after that right? also the Patriots still exist
Idk maybe I’ve been gauging it wrong or something but I never thought the warriors were as widely hated as the heat
the entire Warriors team wasn't as hated as the Heat but Durant most certainly was, if not more IMO. I'd have to listen back if he was specifying only teams or if he was saying villains in general
That’s really not what Bill said but i’d love for Norm to come on the BS podcast. I had no idea he wrote four golf pieces for Grantland when Bill was there.
No, not even close. In basketball I would say the Heat were the last hated. ZeroPointZero is right in that the Pats are in football and pretty much everyone is rooting against the Red Sox/Yanks if they make the post season unless you are a fan of them.
The Death Star Warriors were definitely hated, which was almost remarkable because most casual fans or fans of shitty teams that never had to play the Warriors(me) generally enjoyed/rooted for the Warriors until Durant got there. That flipped it entirely, but it was mostly Durant hate I supposed. I could never renounce my Klaytheism
Agree with this. The Warriors had already built a significant following before Durant got there because of Curry/Klay and the first title run. There was no possible way that team could be hated like Miami was, because no one cared about Miami until LeBron got there. I don't know what the conversation was because I haven't listened, so maybe that's semantics that don't matter. There's no way the Warriors were hated on anywhere near the same level as Miami was when they first came together, though.
If you hate Klay you are awful. Draymond, KD I get bc they can be insufferable even though I love both their games
i hate steph. he's too much of a coward to force a trade to charlotte and have to win with that franchise. pathetic
Warriors get a lot more hate because of the yuppy Bay Area fans too see: Giants when they won the WS, 49ers when they were good, etc absolutely the worst
Luck isn’t the type to announce or commentate. He will be an Ashton Kutcher type investor more likely and be a minority owner in a team more like it
"pander culture" = I'm a rich white asshole who doesn't care about the topic at hand, therefore nobody else could possibly legitimately care about it
i hated the balance of power disparity KD going to GS cemented thus I wanted them to lose the Heat didn't really come close to the outlier nature GS was
It all stems from how Lebron went about it. That's what pissed people off and then them having a huge WWE introduction announcement in the arena.
Even when they were running up 73 wins, GS was still lovable and fun. Getting KD made them repugnant hateable bastards.
I'm not suggesting the Warriors weren't hated by people. I simply don't think the level of anger against them ever rose to the levels of the Heat those first couple season after they teamed up. Some of that is because the Warriors were already together and just added a player that made them unstoppable instead of three stars teaming up at once. A lot of it also because I think most people who watch the NBA look back on those Miami teams and think it was kind of stupid how much hate LeBron and that team got.
How can Bill lament how nobody is allowed to be funny in 2019 with every stand-up comedian he interviews and then turn around and produce stuff like this on his own website?
