Just realized it's been over a year since my last trip to Valentinas I'm gunna have to remedy that soon
My hands down favorite burgers in Austin are the sliders (they're full size) at Nickel City. Super cheap. Taste like giant krystal burgers.
Just did some research and holy shit I had no idea stiles switch bbq was the pool hall. Pretty damn cool
Yep And bedicheck middle school was the high school I did some renovations there a few years ago and had to cut the Abraham mural off up to his nose to replace the drinking fountains His eyes still have the faint outlines of the bloodshot blood vessels
Irush download favor app. Get these tacos delivered first thing in the morning on a day you’re hungover. Allow yourself 1-2 hours for a breakfast nap. Don’t drive all the way down there to sweat by a food truck
Most of the people in my GF’s circle of friends are still in the party mode into their 40s and even early 50s. Few of them were talking about some satellite burning man stuff IIRC in Leander (or somewhere like that relatively close to Austin). Like ~10000 people from all over TX that do a party week there. Similar to actual burning man as far as what goes on bc it’s the people that go to BM every year that do this. I had no idea Burners were really making that shit a “lifestyle” they do these mini-burn festivals like multiple times a year out there. One coming up in a couple weeks. If I didn’t have a GF i would consider it just to see what the fuss is about with something smaller and nearby like that. I’m sure there’s tons of talent coming from colleges in central Texas + major cities.
Got late night ACl tickets to Gary opening Thursday, Griz the first Sunday and Rebelution weekend 2. Not gonna lie gonna be coming back from a huge wedding in AL weekend 1 and probably will sell those Griz tickets for a lot of money. He got shafted with 6pm Sunday set-time (again) by the festival. So many mediocre as fuck electronic acts on Saturday and Friday he could easily have been put in their slot.
I’d be curious to see account totals for Stubbs + ticketfly + C3/ACL + Emos. Probably safe bet I see on average: 8-10 ACL/3ten 4-5 Emos 8-10 Stubbs Probably see ~20 free shows between 1st Thursday, Blues, Shady grove Acoustic, etc too.
Any of you guys been to Kemuri Tatsu-ya? I’m going Thursday night with my brother and I’m kind of amped about the menu
One of, if not my favorite restaurants in Austin. Did you make a reservation? My recommendations of what to order: - Tokyo Street Corn - Hot Pocketz - Smoked Brisket and Spicy Pork Ribs - Guacapoke - Karaage Chicken (order 2) - BBQ Tsukemen Ramen
Was able to book a table for Thursday evening yeah. Really looking forward to these skewers and the Ochazuke
Austin’s small-plate/shareable Asian food game is pretty damn good. Fukumoto is very solid and reasonably priced + never that busy. Can always roll up solo to the sushi bar
Good call on Fukumoto. My wife just gave birth so we hadn’t been eating sushi but have always wanted to try it
I love fukomoto. Their Toro game is strong. I feel like they have gotten a little busier lately though
King salmon skewer x2, shishito bites and brussels + chefs choice sashimi 10pc Prior to meeting future mrs TLAU this was a dating staple order at Fuku. Especially if it was a respectable lady and pounding drinks wasn’t on the agenda could get out of there with a great meal and couple glasses of red or sake for < $75
Easy Tiger was decent. That pastrami sandwich FUCKS I’m at Central District now, everything is an IPA
Their Pastrami is the best in Austin IMO. I routinely just order a half pound of that if I ever go there with a group of friends.
Ok so 7:30 reservation at Comedor, I’m about to walk over to Garage for a few cocktails before dinner. Any suggestions for a bar to hit after dinner?
I like chill craft beer or good cocktail spots but honestly anywhere I can get in comfortably and do a shit beer and a shot of fernet or something is just fine with me
There's a bar at the end of Rainey called Craft Pride that is texas only beers that is local thats cool. Garage is fun. Small Victories is over near the intercontinental (its a speakeasy) and they have good cocktails
Anywhere on a wed night is going to be easy to get in to 7 Grand and Nickel City have awesome bourbon selections. Nickel City is more divey
P6 is fun if you want a rooftop you can look at the lake from. Need reservations but you could just make them on open table probably
In a little more than a week, undesirables from :spit: Louisiana will be crossing our borders. UT, what have you done to us?
We ordered the bone marrow tacos at Comedor and they asked me to do a shot of mezcal through the empty bones. I’m dying tonight
