There are retractable ones too that are really nice but you'll pay a pretty penny for those.

 

Yea I have been looking at retractable one stop recently. I have a drop bedliner and am looking at having a linex spray bedliner to replace it. Then would get a cover. Haven’t made my mind up on roll up or tri fold.

 

I have an Extang soft tri-fold and like it, came with my truck. Tri-folds are easy enough to take on and off if need be, I wouldn't bother with a roll-up. Look really cheap imo.

 

Only cover I ever had was a tri gold, it was great until something would slide to the front

I replaced my stolen 2006 Lariat 200k miles with a 2015 King’s Ranch V8 4x4 75k on it. Original sticker price was 65k total with 11k in options got it at auction for 32k. There isn’t a feature/option I can think of that this thing doesn’t have. Panoramic Moon roof, remote start, massaging seats, all that shit. The 4x4 package is insane with the real time diagnostics etc...plus the aftermarket 2inch leveling kit and big ass tires, very happy.

 

Two questions....

Do you know what ForScan is?

Are you at all technology inclined?

I ask as I looked into it and bought a ForScan dongle ($30 on amazon). They are great for F150 drivers. The premise is you plug the dongle into the ODB port, and then into your laptop and load the forscan software. The connection gives you access to parts of the Ford Software which controls things on the truck. You can then modify certain features. Some of the popular ones are to disable the horn when you exit the vehicle with the keyfob, while the engine is running. Normally it honks twice when you get out and the truck is running. This disables that and makes it not honk any more.

Another option is the Lincoln style mirrors, where when you park and exit the vehicle, when you lock the truck, the mirrors auto fold in. I did that one to mine as well as the disable the horn. You can modify what your Daytime Running Lights look like, how many times your blinker flashes when you just soft pull it (where it doesn't stay on).

Its pretty cool all the various things you can change. I added the ability to roll down the windows on the truck when you unlock the truck with the keyfob. You click the unlock once, and then hit it again and hold it down. After a second or two, it will roll both front windows down.

By the way, I love those tires.

 

Will this work on all F150s? I have an '07 currently, but looking to upgrade next year.

Had that on my f-250 and my current Tacoma.... love it and couldn’t recommend it more.

No and yes. I may look into it, I’m still in the discovery phase of figuring out everything this thing can do, once I’ve mastered that I may go next level with the forscan. Appreciate the knowledge.

This high school kid who is all about trucks had to follow me to drop off my rental and then we rode back to the dealership in the truck and he was telling me all this shit about it. He said something about, if you pop out the drive toggle knob it disables some sort of differential/power governor or something? Said “if you really want to get sideways” and kept going on about how much power the engine had, my mechanical IQ isn’t that high but this kid made it seem like the greatest truck ever with a shit load of power. Something about the motor having an upgrade? Any idea what that would be? The engine is a v8 5.0.

 

And the tires are BFGoodrich 4/32”. 35x12.5R20

 

That’s a great question. I am not sure if the 07 have same Sync systems. Do you have a sync system in the dash?

 

I didn’t like the idea of a WiFi one as I want to be sure it writes the code exactly and no issues with interference.

I am not sure but I bet that engine is crazy fast. They are putting the bigger engines in their higher end trucks now.

I know mine is governed to 107 mph.

If it’s the 4x4 knob that is the locking differential. That’s for better traction off road.

 

Every damn time I turn the truck on it goes to the towing screen

I set mine to one of the truck apps that shows steering lock, angle, etc. You messed around with that stuff yet?

 

Is the tow mode activated? Might be on the shifter.

 

No. That's just the thing. I'm going to take it to a dealer and have them look at it. Nothing is showing its activated. It's just the screen that pops on when the truck starts.

 

I had my ForScan removed. I was a baby though and don't remember it.

 

You know you dont have to push the button on the end of the shifter to put it in gear, right?

 

Didn’t even think about that possibility.

Anyone add an extra camera to their truck. Looking into a front facing camera to be installed and connected to the display screen for work.

 

I am sure it is possible, but you would either need a dedicated monitor for the video, or find a new head unit which can support multiple video inputs.

It looks like there are some Pioneer head units which will support front and rear video.

Had the front camera installed to the screen. But it's a rear camera. So essentially it thinks the truck is backing down the highway on my navigation screen lollol.

I got mine taken off of my old truck while parked on the street in front of my house. It was the first thing I did when I got my new truck.

 

They’re worth it - I fold mine in when I’m parked pretty much all of the time

 

How was the quality of the MX4? In looking on Amazon; it’s getting killed in the reviews for scratched rails, scratched panels, etc. I am concerned the ones they are selling are Chinese imitation ones from a random seller.

Amazon has a big issue with that right now.

Was going to purchase it from another retailer as I hear great things about this cover.

 

Well

1. It looks slick af
2. They gave me a defective one that I'm in the process of replacing. Passenger rail where the elevator bolt inserts one of the rivets holding it on missed the plate. But also something is causing the top to sit incorrectly. So it won't open the second lock without pulling and scuffing up the rail.

It does the job otherwise. Lol


BTW Amazon is prob their replacement parts
