To make it short... He had a meeting this week for work. Misrepresented to me it that it was some corporate rah rah event and had to buy a specific piece of clothing to wear. I told him I would quit before doing that and that’s what I can’t stand about corporate events. Wife can’t believe I say that to him before his meeting. I feel bad but only up until I read exactly what it is about and who it benefits. Completely different than his understanding. He needs to retire.
If he retires, won't that give him more time to come up with more crazy ideas for the family? He needs to retire.
It was just something bringing a bunch of managers together. But it was tied to this charitable cause (never mentioned).
I have an unhealthy fear of accidentally sending an nsfw gif/meme from TMB to my in-laws text thread.
GoodForAnother, this Hilton on the big island has a monorail that takes you to the different areas. Your in-law will love it.
My FIL gave me this book today at dinner and just said, “you and I need to stay on top of our health.”
I have so many questions, the bees in his backyards weren’t adequate ? Why did he order himself some bees? Honey? And where the fuck do you actually order bees? Just checked on amazon and could not get anything
And that’s like the perfect secret Santa gift, here you go lech, 400 bees from Spain. Merry christmas
Illegally imported bees is part of what has caused the bee die-offs. The varroa mite that kills bees is from Asia.
Just kidding, yeah, you can’t just import species. It can kill a ton of animals. It’s all about balance. I wanted to make a joke about osu fans but this place is in a bit of a crisis right now so I won’t push the enveloppe.
Like many a project undertaken by my FIL, he plunged in head first without stopping to think if it would actually work. The bees had nothing to pollinate out where they live in West Texas and died a quick death. He has moved on to countless projects since the bees -- knife making, gardening, quasi-farming, chicken keeping, to name a few. He's currently found his calling as a volunteer fire fighter. It's basically dress up for 60 year old men.
Talked to my FIL this morning. Before I moved into my wife’s house he took down an old deck and left all the pieces in the back yard. I asked him if I could use the tractor to get rid of it all. His response was that him and I needed to go through the wood to remove all the screws so we could reuse them. Sir I will buy you a new 5 dollar box of screws.
old retired guys are funny. my dad wanted to have a 30 minute convo about moving a few big rocks, I told him that I couldn’t do the convo any longer.
He talked about the wood and I’m okay with using some of it but then he brought up reusing screws and just lost me.
My FIL got the family group message going late last night. I responded that he needed to pipe down as I was trying to make love to my wife. He did not respond to well.
Should’ve told him, “Pipe down, I’m trying to make love to my wife (your daughter).” Feel like the parenthetical adds a nice touch.
Wanted to add a joke about me piping her but it was one of those instances where you think of it after the fact.
Well, after raising chickens he's decided he's done with them and wants to build a self-contained biodome to raise ducks. "There's no money in chickens, all the money's in ducks. Duck eggs go for $8 a dozen." He says he knows a guy that made $2,000 a month selling fertilized duck eggs.
HP is having a Labor Day sale so I just got a call asking me to come over because the sale ends tonight. 45 minutes while my daughter is basically pleading to go home I have to provide the same advice I had for years. He is going to buy a laptop for himself as he transitions to retirement and a desktop for my MIL who will only use it to pay online bills and download pictures from her phone. This will either go 2 ways. He balks again and I have this discussion or he pulls the trigger and now I’m setting up 2 computers with backups and the works. Lose lose.
My FIL (and therefore MIL) refuses to shop online because he doesn’t think it’s safe...like has literally never purchased anything off the internet. 1) He works as a technology program manager for a large govt contractor. He knows how technology works. 2) He’s had his CC skimmed multiple times since I’ve known him. 3) Guess who foots the bill when MIL/FIL need something but can’t get it in brick and mortar stores?
