ours also sort of unrelated but hilarious: we have a guy on our private board who said he knew someone at the eugene airport and heard that chip was secretly flying in at like 3am before oregon promoted cristobal
Upgraded the facilities. Bought out Mora. Hired who just about (sans maybe Nebraska) wanted and what do we have to show? It’s so bad I don’t even feel like grilling and drinking. What’s the point. DTR is beyond fucking horrible. If Roberts can’t beat him out how bad is he. Fuck Petersen for blocking the the transfer QB from being able to play. We might win one game this year. I can’t imagine there being a worse D1 team.
It’s the only thing that makes life bearable. Don’t get me wrong Mora needed to be fired but fuck how did it get here? I can’t imagine we’d be this bad under him but I also can’t imagine we’d be better. Maybe we’d have gotten a better QB? Maybe Mora could have gotten Daniels but at the end he seemed to not care either Honestly is being respectable to much to fucking ask for?
Chip is still recruiting with the mindset he's smarter than everybody, he hasn't been humbled whatsoever
He will get 4. RIP my liver and not in a good way. At least I went running today. Going to a buddies house next Saturday do carne jump in the pool melt in Woodland Hills. At least I won’t be under any impression we won’t get completely embarrassed. Guys I am depressed. Please keep me in your T&Ps. Oh and fuck UF for being cheap.
Ummmm I didn’t recruit him and don’t follow recruiting so I don’t think I ever attempted to argue he was good. If I did well I am dumb then
Yeah Well my BFF lives out there and he wants to get together for a game. He wanted to go to the game but fuck that I gave UCLA $1000000 already they ain’t getting anyMora
That’s doesnt take into account UCLA was the youngest D1 team last year because of a huge number of players leaving the program when Chip came. We also have absolutely nothing at QB. Should we this bad? Of course not but we’d be a 6 win team right now under Mora.
I’m not going to act like I knew it would be this bad but at the time of hire the first signs were how ridiculous his staff decisions were. This is not Terry Donahue’s UCLA and they really should be better.
The Azzinaro hire definitely had us puzzled but we at least expected a great offense. The worst is at least Neuheisel could recruit and left Mora with talent. Chip will leave FCS talent that’s horribly coached for the next HC. I have no words to describe this hire that every program that had the money and opening to hire Chip at the time.
I’m very happy chip kelly met with our reps and decided UCLA was a better fit Picturing him coaching/recruiting in the SEC would have been brutal
azz was controversial? he was great at oregon as a dl coach and supposedly influenced alliotti a fair amount, who was our much maligned dc. i would've thought pellum would've been the worst one. he wasn't great here as a coach and as a recruiter and is pretty old.
This is baffling and anyone who says otherwise is full of bullshirt and can fork the fork off and suck my deck.
Went to the game tonight for free — UCLA literally gave away tickets to this game for people who went to the San Diego State game. My UCLA alum buddy got four from a Facebook acquaintance. It was so bad that there was only 1-2 eight-clap cheers. Stadium was 2/3rds full only because Oklahoma fans flocked to the game. Half expected Chip to be on the sidelines counting money because he sure as shit doesn’t seem to be coaching.
It truly is and it’s take most of the joy I have for football away. snowfx2 and I have known each other for better part of a decade and we’ve gone through the same shit. UCLA has substandard facilities so we spend 90 million on upgrades. UCLA will accept mediocrity so we spend IIRC between 9-12 million on Mora’s buyout. UCLA will never go after a big name coach so we hire arguably the most sought after coach (who was available during our search). Yet after doing everything you are supposed to do to be successful, we have 3 wins to show. Kelly’s recruiting has been horrendous. We are arguably (maybe not arguably) the worst power 5 team in the nation. Saying we might not win a game this year is not hyperbole. It sucks and it’s really forking depressing. This really forking sucks. While he might (I doubt it) turn this around it shouldn’t be this bad. In a couple of years once he is gone it will be another 5 years before we become mediocre. Only way (which won’t happen) this is salvageable isn’t to fire Chip today and throw it literally everything at Urban. Short of that we’re royally forked for at least a decade. I assume we will get Rhule in 2-3 years. I think he will make us respectable.
It's like Chip was over coaching after the NFL but decided he wanted to keep making money while mostly half assing it and LA was just the place to do something like that.
Daniel Ocean maybe you can grab Neal Brown when it's time for an unhappy P5 coach to go to a G5 school.
What really stings for UCLA fans is they are totally wasting the Clay Helton / Lynn Swann / USC ineptitude years with this misery. If they were even BORDERLINE top 25, they might be able to step on USC's throat a bit (USC started 2-0 but will most likely be 2-4 in a few weeks) and take control of the city for a while, but they make USC seem like the Rams right now.
it honestly does seem like he is doing the minimum amount necessary to not get fired for cause or sued and its pretty interesting to watch from a distance.
