Odom Mason GA St dude Sitake you often hear all of these names come up when CFB experts are discussing top tier coaches
i know everyone links urban with USC but is there a chance he'd go to tennessee? how much affection is there with florida and him still?
Not sure he wants to deal with all the uncertainty of the Vols job when Gruden is fired in three years.
And no real recruiting base? Go to USC where most all good west coast kids dream of playing and have an easy path to the CFP every year.
Well he made the argument last night that UT not having a recruiting base is nonsense. According to Urban Nashville is a recruiting gold mine and UT is a top 10 job.
Nashville is very overrated for HS football. It is close enough to Atlanta and the VFL network buys a lot of recruits, but it’s not like that is their base. He would have an administration that is all in with everything but I don’t see him working with Fulmer in any way.
Oh I know, I’m just repeating what he said last night on FS1. Basically acting like he could resurrect any program he wanted to. He also called Nebraska a top 5 job in the same segment.
Literally overhaul the entire AD but keep the Haslam money and Urban might consider it. If not then he’s never heading there to work for Fulmer.
Urban has picked his spots exceptionally well, and personally I think TENNESSEE is the next top tier destination on his list.
Yeah go to Tenn where you have to play and recruit against Bama and UGA daily Or go to the pac 12 where the only one standing in his way of dominating that conference is Mario Cristobal
I would love having urban for 3-4 years but it will never happen. That ship sailed when he chose Florida.
Am I the only one that thinks Urban is going to be fine with this cushy job he has now and doesnt really care to go to some dysfunctional programs?
Told the adm that he was coming, called back later after florida offered and said he wanted mulligans on a certain number of recruits. Adm said no. He signed with florida
At the end of the day urban is as intense a competitor as there is in CFB I feel like if offered a job like USC it’ll be hard for him to turn down the chance to coach again in a weak conference where he could half ass it and still dominate that conference
It’s a little hot takey but I think it’s hard to ignore that Fulmer thrived when UGA, Bama and Clemson we’re stepping on their dicks repeatedly. Kirby ain’t letting Cosey Coleman, Jamal Lewis and Deon Grant out of state in this day and age, nor would Albert Haynesworth or Shaun Ellis get out of Clem/SCars grasp. Fulmer also killed it in western NC.
Gotta think Urban has the whole championship at 3 different schools on his mind, he'd sit alone in that category. USC makes the most sense if anywhere in the near future.
I think some are underrating the amount of talent in Tennessee. I believe I saw something a year ago or so that the prep talent base was actually one of the fastest growing in the country from all of the population growth. There’s definitely enough talent in the state and its close enough too hot beds where a monster recruiter like a Saban, Meyer or Carroll could recruit at a similar level to what they historically have at other schools. I also think in state talent matters less than it ever has with kids way more willing to go to school far away.
Yeah, you're thinking way too hard about this. By all means though, let Tennessee fans think they have a chance with Urban. Penn State fans were convinced he'd go to them during the Sandusky saga.
I don't follow it real closely, but I think Nashville has put out a fair amount of talent in the last few years.
