Not sure as I only read a few of them. Seems pretty close from the limited amount I’ve read but I’m not sure. They just started season 4 and the first three are on Hulu.
It follows a lot of the storylines, but definitely changes the source material in large ways. The first season isn't really very good, but it finds its footing during the second. Really hits its stride in the third.
gotcha, I only read an issue or two but I remember reading a lot about it back in the day in Wizard magazine...shit like the 20 funniest moments of Preacher.
This. If someone gave you a one-paragraph summary of all each story arc in the comic, it would be pretty close to the TV show once the show reached the beginning point of the comic. The TV show actually started out with events that happened before the comic book started. Now the all the details about how everything happened can have some pretty significant differences between the show and comic.
Coming from the viewpoint of someone who did not read the comics first but has been watching since the beginning and then read the comics later, season 1 was good/great. I honestly thought season 3 fell off a little.
Episode 4(the dolphin) is the funniest so far. They’ve all been really good but I think this was the funniest.
That was the debate at work yesterday. On one hand Spoiler it could’ve been consensual and Mallory led Butcher to believe it was rape to manipulate him into working for her agenda. Combine that with Becca being alone with him for like 3 hours and the fact she left Bill to raise the baby. On the other hand Homelander is a piece of shit who truly believes he can do whatever he wants and appears to truly not know what happened to her afterwards until he started to investigate the matter. The video clearly shows Becca to be upset and disheveled after her time with Homelander...could be she’s upset about being raped or could be guilt for cheating on her husband. Also iirc she disappeared right after that w/o even seeing Butcher, he only knew a little based on what footage there was of her in the building and what the park security cam showed him of her sitting on a bench for a while.
I dont know if she looked all that upset after leaving the office. More so she looked confused and nervous. But maybe I'm just misremembering bc I'm constantly looking at my phone arguing with idiots on the internet about insignificant facts and opinions while watching TV.
Spoiler nah she came home because remember he had a memory of having dinner with her and she seemed silent and distant. I’m thrown off because she didn’t disappear until after she realized she was pregnant which means Butcher didn’t know anything about a rape because he would have never let her keep go back there. Plus why leave her husband to raise a rape baby? Maybe it was consensual in the Deep/Annie type of way idk.
So I started reading after the season cause I loved it like anyone else and needed answers. This spoiler is only for comic readers, if you click it, it might ruin the next season(s) Spoiler Do you think Black Noir is the evil version of Homelander in the series? So the raping of Burchers wife, the melting of Stillwell, the Wrecking of the flight, it’s all Black Noir?
Spoiler Doesn't seem like they are going that route. I mean, Black Noir could still be the doppelganger of Homelander, but it's pretty clearly Homelander doing those things. Also, in the comics he may have been driven toward being evil by the things Black Noir was doing, but he still did evil shit on his own throughout the series.
Just finished, watched the whole season in a week. Really enjoyed it, but Butcher's accent was awful, flip flopping from Cockney to Kiwi.
Based on what I’ve read he’s supposed to be a Bogan? In my mind I have no idea what that actually sounds like. The kiwi and cockney was enjoyable for me though. Loved it. Thought homelander was incredible. Started Banshee last night since he stars in it as well. It’s free with Amazon Prime at the moment.
Binge watched over two days, was a really good show. I was never into comic books growing up but damn I sure do love the shows/movies of them all.
Finished it the other night, that was a really good show. this was great Spoiler it didn't look like she was raped when she came out of the room
I'll have to see her naked to make young Paquin comparisons but I'm willing to accept this for the time.
**SPOILERS BELOW** Show’s been out for over a month so I’m not using the spoiler function... Think it was def rape. I think she disappeared so quickly afterwards because the baby was gestating at an escalated rate so instead of noticing she was pregnant after missing her period 3 weeks later, she noticed something different after a few days. She goes in to Vought, they confirm she’s preggers with Homelander’s rape baby, and then they ship her off to Small Town, USA to raise the baby. Only thing that doesn’t account for is why she wouldn’t contact Butcher, but Vought probably blackmailed her into keeping quiet.
Really looking forward to S2. The humor and cynical look at super heroes is great and the characters are all so well done.
On a semi-related note, Amazon is running laps around the competition right now. This show, Good Omens, Carnival Row, and Marvelous Ms. Maisel are all great. Now they’ve got The Expanse too and in the future they’ll have both Wheel of Time and Lord of the Rings series.
I absolutely loved the first season and watched the whole thing in less than a week. For the folks that read the comic, does Black Noir become a bigger character going forward? I'm a huge Batman fan and clearly he is meant to be that character in this universe.
