Switching to the iPhone later this month for the very first time. Interested to see what they put out this year
This is a bad year to do it. The new phone has been leaked. There’s no major upgrades from the previous year. Next year is going to be the leap in design and technology.
In this year? Pretty much just an updated camera. But it’s the same body/ style. It’s the last phone in this product cycle. It’s not a bad phone. But next year will have a new body/ layout. Probably 5g. Probably USBC charging. Ect
I’m not guaranteeing it or anything but it seems to be the consensus among tech blogs and videos i watch
Apple agreed last year to unify the cables with everyone else and use USBC so it’s expected they will move all their devices to that.
Not being able to plug my lightning XR into my USBC MBP is annoying, so port synergy can’t come soon enough
unfortunately not totally up to me. but the phone and coverage will be paid for and i'll get to upgrade yearly though
Yeah, Series 5 is coming out today. https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2019/09/apple-unveils-apple-watch-series-5/ bama1
Surprised at series 5 watch. That was kept under wraps. Love the always on. I won’t upgrade my X but may do the watch and go cellular this time. Depends on resale value of my series 4
Always on feature may be the best thing announced today. I’m still using series 2 and need to upgrade but not sure I want to spend $500+ on one. May go with the 3.
I new 3 for $199 will hook so many new Apple Watch fans. And I bet they upgrade after a year or two after they love it.
Got the 4 a year ago so I’ll probably stay with it and wait for a bigger leap which they expect next year. I’ll get new phone since I’m on the yearly upgrade plan.
Still rocking a series 1, over it. Battery life is abysmal. Have to charge it every single day. Thought having it with cell service would be dumb, but when I walk away without my phone I sometimes wish I had service on it.
Yeah I'm sitting out this iPhone and waiting for 5G next year. Fiance has been wanting the Apple watch so seems like an opportunity to buy the 4 at a discount. The 5 is basically... compass + always on? Why do I need my watch to be on when I'm not looking at it?
I do not like the 3 camera look, but I suspect all the new phones will start rolling them out, so might as well get used to it.
I need a new phone but don't really care about having the absolute newest model. Should I wait a couple of weeks in hopes that the X or XR drops in price or are there better options?
I have the yearly upgrade thing. Faster and better camera and 5 hours more battery life is always fun.
I do too, so I might as well upgrade. Also have the Series 3 Watch, but I may wait a little bit to upgrade it.
If they keep with a $699 model next year that isn't significantly inferior I'm jumping ship. Like there is literally nothing I see in the two more expensive iPhone 11 models that makes me want to spend another few $300 (or more) to get. Plus the cheaper one is the only one with 128GB of storage. Might still stick with 64GB because it's more than sufficient on my Android, but 256 GB is way more than I will ever need and I'd just be wasting money to get it. That $300 savings would nearly pay for one of the new Apple Watches too with them being priced at $399
My Mac is showing date from 2 years ago and won’t let me connect to the internet. Anyone have any idea why?
correct me if I’m wrong. But if you keep that phone for the full 2 years, you own the phone and can sell or trade it in which will reduce the cost of the next phone. Reducing the total cost. If you upgrade each year you throw away any phone value and concede to a monthly lease payment
Sure, but the hassle of selling it isn’t worth it to me. I’ve been upgrading every year for the last 4 years.
sys prefs>date & time and make sure set automatically is checked also check for malware or a profile you might've installed (malwarebytes.com and then profile is in sys prefs if you have one installed)
Apple is giving you that much back? Might think about it. However I’ve still paid a higher premium in my monthly for the new every year.
I’m still on the 6S. May look into getting an older model. Is the XR the best choice for someone who wants an update from a 6S, but doesn’t care about having the newest model?
