Give up next year's 1st rounder for Trent Williams. I don't give a fuck. Baker is going to get killed behind this bullshit o-line. ETA: Baker got xrayed and wearing a wrap on his right hand after the game.
They should spend every single pick in the draft on OL next year. That said, I’m more disappointed in the defense. That was absolutely horrible.
seems like we pretty much threw in the towel when baker threw his first INT coming off the Henry touchdown. It's obviously way too early to determine if Kitchens will succeed here, but today was an F-. It's hard to say what was most disappointing today, because everything was just so impossibly bad. I don't think there was a single silver lining. The guys got some fresh air and there were no catastrophic injuries I guess. And while I loved everything about our off season in the moment, in hindsight, completely ignoring the offensive line (particularly after trading Zietler) seems questionable at best. Next week is a must win I think.
Literally, the one silver lining is that we got beat so embarrassingly bad that Baker's chip on his shoulder has to be completely back, the team has to be very humbled, etc etc. We did so bad, that it might be better than had we just finished with a 22-13 loss. You can possibly make a sound argument that it was the worst opening week in Browns history: -TD favorites losing by 30 at home -Most penalties for the franchise since the 1950s -3 INTs -Complete lack of discipline including the starting LT getting thrown out of the game for kicking a player etc etc
I don’t remember the score, but they got murdered by pittsburgh in 2007 before scoring 56ish on Cincy the next week.
I'm thrilled we have Beckham, but watching Gordon catch a TD for New England made me think if he would have had his shit together here. We'd keep Zeitler, would have used our first rounder this year on an OL and had Beckham's cap space to go after another back seven or yet another OL. Gordon/Landry/Higgins with an above average offensive line instead of Beckham/Landry/Higgins with a hideous one might have been nice.
McCray has to start at RG next week and Demetrius Harris shouldn't be on plays that require blocking. Kitchens and Monken have to scheme better protections or Baker is going to die this year.
Upon some reflection, here we are...new year, new QB, new HC, new coordinators, new shiny toys on the field...same old result. - 18 penalties for 182 yards: Did we really fire Hue? Couldn't tell. That is an absolutely embarrassing amount of lack of discipline...and it's 100% on the coaches. - OL play: I've never seen an OL lose a guard (either guard), return 4 starters (including both T's and a C) and completely fall apart. I thought Campen was supposed to be one of the best? We brought in 27 different options for RG and this is the shit he fields? - Play calling: The first drive was beautiful...but it's a scripted drive. After that, DC's adjust, which means Kitchens must adjust...he sucked at it. We abandoned the run game and threw it all over the field despite having an OL who couldn't block Mentor high school. It's obvious that play calling duties are too much with this coaching responsibilities (just like with Hue)...and they need to be turned over to Monken full time. One thing looked for absolute sure...these guys read their own press clippings; watched the sports talk shows and thought they had "arrived". It looked like they thought they were just going to show up and beat the Titans because they were the improved Browns who everybody was picking to win the division. That's on the coaching staff. It's their job to manager those attitudes and make them understand that they haven't won shit and aren't shit. Maybe this ass whooping gets these guy's heads on straight. Maybe it starts a new focus and makes them understand that nobody is just going to roll over for them because they are the 'new' Browns. I don't know...but after one game (I know it's only one game), everything looks the same 'old' Browns. Oh, well...at least I have Saturdays to look forward to.
Gregg Williams wasn't the "sexy" choice but dammit if we weren't 100% more disciplined when he took over last year
It more depends on how the game goes. The second highest penalty total this week was the bears with 107. That 182 needs to be cut in a half at minimum.
I'm obviously not saying he should be on the hot seat, but Hue took over a team with next to zero NFL talent that was essentially trying to lose games for optimal draft positioning. Kitchens doesn't have that luxury. People are going to lose patience in a hurry if the losses start to pile up
Pile up in the same fashion as week 1 maybe but holy week 1 over reaction. Yeah the talent is there but we have a lot of new pieces. Some whose first real snaps together were Sunday. Those not new are mostly young guys. Lets let the team figure itself out and (hope) to really gel before we call for Kitchens head.
this is why ya'll got fucked up on sunday, because of this kind of bullshit right here. why the fuck would you wear a 350k watch to play football?
I’d say the loss had more to do with the 18 penalties, 3 interceptions and overall lack of GAF after we went down more than a score. Maybe that’s just me though.
my post was mostly in jest, but wouldn't players worrying more about looking fly as fuck than performing on the field, fall under overall lack of give a fuck?
I think Rovell said on Sunday it was a $160k watch. Not that it makes much difference but that’s doubling what he said so I felt like I should point it out
Don't be a dumbass, Odell. Just don't wear the watch. It's clearly against league rules to wear it, so don't wear it. Just going to be another distraction this team doesn't need. Team needs to work on focusing on football and correcting the numerous mistakes from Sunday. Not answering questions about a watch.
Odell’s watch retails for $189K. The company pays athletes to wear the watch while they play their respective sports. Rafael Nadal wears one while he plays as well...his retails for $798K.
I would care if he played like shit, but he was probably one of the few players I'd give a passing/decent grade to on Sunday, so no I don't care either.
Defense: Good - Burnett, Ogunjobi, Garrett Fine - Schobert, Kirksey, Greedy Meh / Bad - Everyone else Offense: Good - Beckham, Higgins Fine - Chubb, Landry Meh / Bad - Everyone else Shameful - Robinson
Giants buddy last night said because of the watch "I'm glad he's gone he's embarrassing" Yeah I bet you're happy to let a top 5 guy at his position go because of a watch.
