I cannot ever remember an NFL line moving this much without some sort of injury or news breaking. At +19 now.
Any guesses?? Spoiler Did you guess Omar Kelly? It's Omar Kelly. https://deadspin.com/dipshit-nfl-re..._deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter
The Dolphins have granted permission to DB Minkah Fitzpatrick to seek a trade, according to multiple sources who say Miami's asking price is too high. Dolphins have no comment. Story coming with help from @CameronWolfe Uhhhhh...
Zero chance Tua plays for us. I guess we can take Herbert #1 and continue to be the dumpster fire we'll always be.
Imagine thinking that these draft pick assets will do anything for us when the guy in charge of them drafted Charles Harris and is currently trying to dump off last year's first rounder.
Bigger problem is, why would any QBs coming out play for us? There’s no way in hell I’d play for this franchise. I’d go full Eli Manning. It’s one thing to tank but this going too far
I think this is being a prisoner of the moment. We’ve spent money every year on big name FAs trying to “win now”, it’s not like we’ve had a history of tanking. The browns just finished a stretch of 1-31, chewed through a handful of coaches and GMs, and lacks the lifestyle that comes with being in Miami, and I don’t recall hearing word one about any qbs (or other players in the draft for that matter) threatening to not play for them. Why would it happen to us after 1 year?
The browns weren’t openly trying to lose like this, plus it also gets to a point where you’d be risking career to play with a level of talent and a roster that is far say the worst in the league. Also I’m not being a prisoner of the moment, we needed to tank but this is getting out of hand. We don’t even have an nfl roster right now
Outside of the Tunsil/stills trade what talent would you have wanted to keep/would it have made us any better? When we signed Fitzpatrick there was a bunch of people that said we’d win 6 games and we’d be too good to tank. Is kiko alonzo, TJ McDonald, or any of the guys we brought in from the AFL worth any wins in your mind? We had the most dead money in the league by a wide margin, we were always going to be bad, so what’s the difference between losing to Baltimore 59-10 instead of 42-17? I’d certainly listen to the argument that we shouldn’t have kept Grier, and that Flores is a bad hire (it’s early to say that but I didn’t love the hire to begin with). I dont love the idea of tanking either. I’ve been pro-kicking the tires on Rosen, and despite the haul hate trading Tunsil, but I do think it’s a stretch that 1 game into a season with a rookie HC/OC/DC, with youngest roster in the league, trying to get out from a decade of bad contracts, may be a little early to think that no one will want to play here. With all the cap space and draft capital after this year, this roster will be wildly different by next year anyways
I think Flores is trash and another arrogant patriots assistant that won’t ever accomplish anything so he’s perfect for this tank job. I love the idea of tanking, but like I said I feel like we’ve gone too far. I mean we can’t even evaluate Rosen because putting him out there now would get him killed and ruin his career. Like I said, I totally am on board with taking. Hell im on board with getting killed, but you at the very least need a serviceable nfl roster and we don’t have that. I think you believe I’m against the tank or the losing but I’m not I just think this is too far and unnecessary to reach our goal. You can be bad and not completely gut ur roster of any kind of decent professional player.
Always annoyed me that there was so much made about not paying Landry top dollar because he was a slot wr, then we use pick 11 overall on a slot corner (while handing McCain a sizable contract).
The best part is reading today that Ross wanted to trade down (which could have netted Derwin or Jaire) but the GM insisted on staying at 11 to pick up Minkah.
That made me decide to look back on our past decade of first round picks and boy did that make me feel good: 2019: Wilkins (TBD obviously) 2018: Minkah (still on team, now wants to be traded) 2017: Harris (still on team, non-factor up to this point) 2016: Tunsil (Traded to Houston, impressive haul received) 2015: Parker (still on team, good for one good game a year) 2014: James (Gone, 3rd round comp pick received for 2020) 2013: Jordan (Yikes, 2nd rounder sacrificed to trade up and get him) 2012: Tannehlll (Gone, 4th round pick received if I remember right?) 2011: Pouncey (Gone to SD, pro bowler last year, I believe we didn't receive any type of comp pick) 2010: Odrick: (Gone, now out of the league for a couple years) 2009: Vontae Davis (Retired now, traded for a 2nd round pick to the Colts that was ultimately used on Jamar Taylor, Taylor eventually traded to the Browns for a 7th round pick) Really hope whoever is in charge of the draft portion of this rebuild whether it be Grier or someone else learns from these mistakes, because that's a pretty awful track record. The one hope is that given that we're likely to be drafting high, hopefully it make it easier to avoid a bust, but I wouldn't put anything out of the possibilities with this franchise.
