why do nick green and jerome think the segura error should have been scored an infield hit why does everyone on our broadcast team have brain rot
we avoid corbin and straus this weekend finish up tomorrow and get 2 of 3. should have this thing clinched by mid next week. hopefully during the philly series so those losers can have to watch us celebrate again
Hope so too but user Paulbee78 Louis Holth and I are going next Fri vs the Giants. I would love to be there for the clincher but that seems unlikely.
...And Snitforbrains confirms that he plans to play Kakes and his 57 OPS+ and 85 wRC+ vs lhp this season against lhp. This Is all John Hart’s fault. Snit is too damn loyal to Kakes and I see no other explanation.
When Markakis gets brought up, I sometimes wonder what Smoltzy would have been like in the late 90's and early 00's every time we got to see Keith Lockhart in the lineup, or even get an AB.
Bobby was well known for continuing to plug guys in when they struggled so I feel sure he would encourage Sterling to just post through this rough patch
Looks unlikely, but hey - it’s the Braves. We might still be a chance of seeing it together. *FYi reminder that I’m also at Suntrust for the Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon games - so if anyone is around to buy me a beer, give me a shout. Battery post game Wednesday, Northside Tavern or Chili’s Thursday night.
Paraphrasing Snit: "He's so valuable to the team. I don't know how we played .800 baseball without him, but we did."
On Farters after Martin struck out three on nine pitches (personally can’t call it an “immaculate inning”) “Though Martin was the first Braves pitcher to accomplish the feat since Buddy Carlyle on July 6, 2007, Atlanta catcher Tyler Flowers wasn't all that impressed. ‘Is it that big of a deal?’ Flowers quipped. ‘I only say that because I threw the ball in the stands and then [Mike] Soroka and [Max] Fried started yelling at me and I was like, ‘What?’ So I'm playing it off like it's not a big deal, because I threw it away.’ ‘It was the only ball I threw into the stands all night. So I'm downplaying it.’”
also jrmy even if he retires for some reason this off season, the earliest you'd get your money is december 2021. has to be off an mlb roster for 24 consecutive months
bp: 99.9% (99.1 wins) fangraphs: 99% (99.2 wins) toby projection inc: 100.4% (100.9 wins) 538: >99% (99 wins)
The AP’s recap of the ninth really doesn’t do Swanson’s and JD’s grabs justice. Those were miraculous plays.
Can we talk about how good Ozzie has been this year? His stats are nearly identical to last years (in 15 fewer games) but he’s cut his strikeout-to-walk ratio from 3-to-1 to 2-to-1.
if Sterling A doesnt start posting again soon, you will take over his spot in the top 5 breaks my heart to demote a devoted family man like sterling but if he doesnt post, he can't keep his spot
wow look at that lou. me and you dunking on jrmy yet again tegg almost completed the dunk but he got caught on the rim
If he can take another step and get his walk rate up to above 10% and get where his OBP will be in the 370-380 range then he's going to be realllllllly good
Been really good. And I still can't believe he signed this. 7 years/$35M (2019-25), plus 2026-27 club options signed extension with Atlanta 4/11/19 19:$1M, 20:$1M, 21:$3M, 22:$5M, 23:$7M, 24:$7M, 25:$7M, 26:$7M club option ($4M buyout), 27:$7M club option (no buyout) replaced 1 year, $575,000 deal signed 3/19
hasnt he essentially fulfilled the WAR value of his contract already (assuming one buys into that "stat")
If one were to venture into the land of the whimsical that is $/WAR, he's basically done it, yes. Fangraphs' Dollars value metric has him at $31.1M of value for the season.
Fangraphs has the cost per win of a position player in FA at $5.7 million per win which means Ozzie would have to be worth 6.1 wins to pay for his deal. He's at 3.9 already this season.
Oh I see page 1829 is for fairytale land and made up things. Let me know when make believe is over and the adults have returned.
i'd like to be pimps from oakland or cowboys from arizona but its not halloween. grow up peter pan. count chocula
The Fangraphs $ totals they post on player pages are based on $/War for all players (and not just free agents) but they've broken it down more specifically in articles...in FA starting pitchers are worth about $4.2M $/WAR, position players $5.7M $/WAR, and relievers are over $10M
flowers is a shitty catcher and a moron but my man had a three run jack last night. lets cut him some slack.
probably time to sell high and deal him. at a minimum we need to draft his replacement first round this year
What are the odds Keuchel resigns? He'll obviously be looking for 3-4 years, not sure if we'll bring the $$$. Assuming he walks, Teheran is an unknown, we'll be in the market for a frontline starter imo
