Look at this shit from the June meeting. Body checking as we know it is now illegal. Legal body contact occurs between two or more skaters who are in the immediate vicinity of the puck and who are both in the normal process of playing the puck. A body check represents intentional physical contact by a skater to an opponent who is in control of the puck. The opposing player’s objective is to gain possession of the puck with a legal body check and NOT to punish or intimidate an opponent. When determining whether a body check (or body contact) has occurred, the official must focus on whether the player is attempting to play the puck and whether there is any overt hip, shoulder or forearm action used to initiate contact and separate the opponent from the puck. Under no circumstance is it acceptable to deliver a body check to a vulnerable or defenseless opponent, an opponent who is not in possession and control of the puck (late hit) or to use the hands, stick, forearm or elbow in delivering a check to an opponent A skater is considered to be in a vulnerable or defenseless position when he is unaware, unprepared, or unsuspecting of an impending hit. Banging on the board with a stick or other object will be recognized as unsportsmanlike conduct when done to taunt an opponent or celebrate an unacceptable body check. No need to skate with your head up anymore.
This is what I don’t like. You’re allowing kids to develop habits that will lead to a greater chance of injury.
I didn't mind at all them moving checking back from 12u to 14u but this is getting ridiculous. You're going to have all of these kids putting themselves in dangerous spots and then they're going to advance to the next level and get murdered.
Canucks may have screwed the pooch this offseason. The reports on what Boeser was looking for seemed pretty reasonable and they still are having a hard time finding the cap space.
I'm on team "Players getting paid" 99% of the time, but the more reports that come out the more it seems like Marner and Camp are being ridiculous. General consensus seems to be shifting that way now, too.
This smells like the PA and his agent just holding out for the most money to push prices higher for other RFA’s.
Seems low for buying up those UFA years. Should have done a three year deal that walks you to FA that are becoming the rage.
it’s a steal if he gets back to where he was in 2017. if last year was a sign of things to come it’s an overpay. I think it will be ok.
They did not use him well at all, provorov at this price is a steal. Ghost is the issue. Provorov should play more
If ghosterbear was right handed that duo would be almost perfect. Provorov can cover the whole ice. He can move the puck. Ghost could be a little more free to attack . I really like Myer as you do zeberdee , dude will be a perfect 3(at best) 4rth d. Huge, physical and right handed with a big shot. You play the big line with provorov and Myer, you play couturier with ghost
seems like the plan this year is to bury Ghost on the third pair with Myers and play Provorov and Sanheim with the vets Niskanen and Braun.
If Myers can continue to progress that’s a good defense, ghost on the pp and a few shifts with the first line on offensive face offs and a few minutes with couturier
One of the more low key entertaining parts of camp opening is the hot takes about Day 1 line pairings.
We are about to enter an endless cycle where bad drafting teams give 28 and 29 year old UFA 7 year deals because they have no good young players to spend money on.
Yeah, the draft is probably more paramount than ever right now. It’s going to be damn near impossible to build a contender without solid contributors on ELC’s going forward.
