Chris Long is really great on the Russillo pod. Recommend tuning in whenever it's posted today, he was awesome last week. Also does anyone know what Tate Frazier left to do?
Titus mentioned something within the movie/tv industry. Grew tired of, and did not want to be podcasting his entire life.
He seemed really into movies on IG so that makes sense. I need to go back and listen to the last few OSPs... I don't usually listen in the offseason.
Perhaps I’m naive or maybe I was just too young when watching Beverley Hills Cop, but I never once felt gay subtext throughout the whole movie. So Bill thought Axel might be gay, but he was too fucking stupid to know Hamm was doing a caricature of a Boston accent in The Town? Haha, riiight
Today i listened to a grown man complain that his daughter gets her boyfriend more gifts than she gets him
“of course you guys think it’s weird for a dad to be sad about his daughter not buying him enough presents. don’t see the big deal” -war grundle
I stopped the pod the other day, but briefly listening to House and Bill talk about the NFL, made me never want to watch football again.
Like 5 years ago I found the constant connection to sports really clever and sometimes funny, but now it makes me cringe. Sometimes you really do become the villain with time.
Five or six years ago I still had a passing interest in Barnwell and Mays figuring out who was the best left guard in football. Didn’t care who it was, but the reasoning was sound.
“Idk if you know this but the Patriots have won a few Super Bowls” Or any variation of that is so unbearably cringeworthy at this point. Simmons has to the butt of jokes across the country with actual sports media people he’s had on the pod, let alone (prepare for my lazy phonetic spelling) hur-al-uh-bob.
I saw a great stat once comparing defenses between Brady and Manning. Where Brady’s defense was always in the top 15 and Manning with the Colts was always shit. I can’t find it. I’ll concede that Brady is the best QB of all time as long as we agree that Bill Belichick would’ve won less Super Bowls playing drew Brees or Mannng.
I didn't even bother. Knew it would be absolute idiocy treated like brilliance because Bill isn't smart enough to know it's idiocy.
This gladwell didcussion is awful. Bill admits the only reddit he visits is the conspiracy theory one. Complains about: Popovich Obama Serena Williams Kanye Lebron truthers Young people and their ear buds Just completely off the rails.
Gladwell asserts the public backlash to Kanye was because people were upset he had the audacity to criticize the legitimacy of the award. And then rants about how awards are bs and rigged anyway, so you go Kanye! Bill was like uh wait, it was because Kanye interrupted a show and humiliated a young girl getting an award, which Gladwell almost entirely ignores. There is no sanctity of the Grammy voters, Malcolm. People thought Kanye was a douche and Obama called him a jackass because he literally interrupted an acceptance speech and acted like a child.
I got to the Popovich hot take and had to stop Guy who whines about aggregators says pop doesn’t like the things that come along with being a coach.
I cant do the Gladwell and Klosterman pods anymore, I will always power through the rough parts of Guess the Lines, though. Last week’s episode, the first since Tate left the Ringer, is worth a listen for OSP fans.
Yikes. I would be thoroughly embarrassed if i had posted in this thread about how smart Malcolm Gladwell was. That would be a mortifying take
Yes he absolved Paterno of any blame because Paterno is just a football coach who is too busy to be worried about anything else
any time he mentions the aggregators it's his "shield" to drop a particularly stupid take without taking full ownership of it. He's too big of a pussy to stand alone on half the takes he makes these days. Also congrats to Gladwell that nothing he said in the pod was as bad as the Nigerian basketball stuff
so Paterno did nothing wrong because he reported up .... but the leadership (who Paterno allegedly reported to) did not do enough about it .... yet gets blamed too harshly? the fuck
gladwell's joe pa bit might be the most brutal take in ringer history. did simmons challenge him at all?
Turned off the pod and deleted it as soon as the JoPa part was over. Won't be wasting any more time with that pseudo-intellectual dipshit in the future, and can't believe Bill let it go without any pushback. (We'll, actually I can since Bill is a sycophant who also loves horrible takes)
I can not think of a better candidate to be on a bill cast. Will make me hate each way more i am sure
