Well, Thinking of You is pretty awesome. As is Rose. And Brena is pretty simple, but damn it's a good simple
That's the one that was supposed to be part of a project called "Tapeworm" with Maynard and Trent Reznor. Then a live version of the song leaked and Trent got pissed and quit the project iirc
It's actually grown to be my favorite too after not thinking much of it initially, that plus 7empest has fallen off a bit from my early impressions
"Acting all surprised When you're caught in the lie We know better It's not unlike you It's not unlike you We know your nature" Best part of 7empest. Closest we get to the old, pissed off Maynard
i really feel like the "sound the dread alarm" part on Descending is a lost opportunity for Maynard to just rip it. it's lacking about 25% of the delivered vocal force it needed i love the album tho. in my mind he just sings that part more aggressively.
Not surprising due to his age, but I really think the only thing that puts this album a smidge below Lateralus is the lack of Maynard screams. Most of the tunes would be over the top awesome of the crescendos had prime Maynard belting out the highs. I still love it. On another note, I found a memory card with my band’s performance of Ænima from last summer. We played it goddamn near double time. Ha. While my guitar/vocals were decidedly meh, our drummer fucking crushed it. I may upload it to YouTube or something if anybody is curious.
I think y'all killed it. I know you're going to be your own worst critic, but that's a hard enough song to sing without the added focus of playing guitar on it. Is it a song you guys still play, and if so, do you think you've made improvements on it?
Appreciate it. I'm happy enough with it to put it up. We needed to play it slower, and some of the clunky transitions would've sounded way better. The solo would've sounded closer too, though I wasn't going to fuck with a slide on top of everything else. That was one of the last shows I played with that band. The bassist moved to SF, so I've just been doing solo acoustic stuff. At various other times, we did Schism and Forty Six & 2 as well.
Yeah I'm on Reddit looking at Tool memes. Still want to read some more cool hidden interpretation shit on the new album
Tough crowd. I picked out the most choice ones. I also sent to a group chat with my friends who like Tool
feel pretty certain it's either Pneuma or the chord progressions to your favorite guitar piece, Sober
For some reason this song has been massively stuck in my head the last few days. Kicks ass "Disconnect and self destruct one bullet at a time What's your rush now, everyone will have his day to die"
"Little angel go away Come again some other day The devil has my ear today I'll never hear a word you say He promised I would find a little solace And some peace of mind Whatever, just as long as I don't feel so"
