Thought he would have success at arky. Is he still running the warp speed offense? That's prolly a large part of the problem. It's why we went away from it when he left. You put your defense at a disadvantage in running it (even when you score )and there are a ton of 3 and outs at times.
No, he doesn’t. He did a little against Colorado St and had success, but for the most part we aren’t going super fast.
Mods can we put a bedtime on the elderly itt? Like if they post after a certain time it doesn’t appear till the next morning
What's sad is I really don't even feel like shit after this shitty lose, I'm numb to it now, which is fucking ridiculous for a sec team
Because many people are saying he is the stud. He can play 4 games Chud isn't coaching like he knows his job is in jeopardy and may not be here so play him
He may have potential but you can’t throw a true freshman into the fire and set him up for failure. People seem to think playing JSJ should be an option because he was able to scramble around and make some plays against our 2nd/3rd string defense. Bottom tier WAC QB’s rape our starting D, of course our backups are going to look decent against our backups God I hate this football program
Meltdown mode isnt nearly as fun as would be expected on hawgsports... I think the entire fan base is apethetic to losing at this point...
Will someone put the hog icon back for the thread. I want to be able to find it when we're on page 2 or 3 later this week, tia
The past few years have been painful. I've become numb to this shit. When we threw the last int, I just say in my recliner and stared at the TV. There was a time I would've had a meltdown. Nothing surprises me anymore. Thank you Bert and Chad.
Love said San Jose State focused on the Arkansas safeties. “They like to move a little bit with their safeties and I just keyed on them,” Love said. “They kind of tip off what they are doing. I just trusted it. There were a couple of times that I misread, but I just continue to trust it, talked to (passing game coordinator Ryan Gunderson) and just continued to trust in myself and just went out there and ripped it.”
love that morris keeps repeating that the players and coaches didn't coach and play up to "our standard" and none of the media have enough balls to ask him what his standard is considering he is a smooth 4-12 against the easiest schedule in the history of razorback football.
CM's message to the fans: Look, it's unacceptable. I'm embarrassed. I hurt for our fans, players, university. That performance is not who we are. Now we have a choice: We can either dwell on it or do something about it. Knowing these coaches and players, I feel we'll respond. i feel like they will not respond.
Hogs’ athletic director disappointed by Saturday’s loss By Max Brantley On September 23, 201912:43 pm 2 comments Hunter Yurachek, University of Arkansas athletic director, spoke to the Little Rock Touchdown Club today and he didn’t sugarcoat the Razorbacks’ loss Saturday to lightly regarded San Jose State. He was disappointed, he said. “Saturday, we took a step backwards. We did not get better.” He said there’d been hope the Hogs would be 3-1, even 4-0, at this point in the season rather than 2-2. But he conceded the team just wasn’t good enough to hope for wins in every game in a tough SEC schedule. The SEC is hard, he said. He said the goal is for the football team to improve and he said some patience will be required.
there isn't anything to hear. 1 of 2 things will happen. morris will be given another year if he makes staff changes or he will be fired after this year. there isn't a scenario where he sees year 4
Not really. I’ve stopped giving a shit and don’t really care anymore. Fuck this program for continuing to be an embarrassment. I really only care about basketball and baseball until they make a change. Morris has lost any support from me, and you know that’s not like me. I’ve tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. After last seasons embarrassment Morris took away the players locker room and “swag” like nice clothes and shit and they just wore white T-shirt’s until they earned it. Somehow they earned it back. Then we beat Colorado State and Morris thinks they’ve earned the Club Dub bullshit. Then he wonders why they aren’t focused in warmups for SJSU. He publicly shames his QB by telling him he needs to stay within the system. What exactly is our system? The slow pace we showed in the opener? The fast pace we showed against CSU? Or the mixture we showed against SJSU? Chief is going to go back up to the booth now to call the defense. Last year he came down to the field after previously being in the booth to fix some things. Maybe the back and forth isn’t the issue? Maybe it’s the dogshit scheme? He’s not going to hold anyone accountable, because it’s obvious he doesn’t know what he’s doing.
chief has been over the hill for at least the last five years. morris saying he was going to hire the best DC in the country and then bringing in chavis, who the aggies were all thrilled to see the back of, was awful. and his offensive staff is somehow even worse OC/QB: started as a GA for Morris at Clemson and has never worked for anyone else RB: former high school coach who was run off from Texas WR: former GA for Morris who spent a year at App State and then followed him to SMU OL: former GA for Morris who followed him to SMU TE: former high school ASSISTANT coach. willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because Ark legacy and has actually developed some tight ends. the only assistant who Morris didn't hire. So, it's not surprising that our offense is complete dog shit with that staff. If the ultimatum is for Morris to make staff changes or else then the only people who he needs to retain are Stepp (WR), Lunney (TE), Caldwell (DL) and maybe Traylor (RB). Literally every other coach needs to go.
I’m so disappointed in our DL. Just not generating any pressure. Losing Dorian Gerald hurt a lot, but there is a lot of highly rated/recruited talent there, and they just suck. Devwah sucking has been one of the most disappointing busts we’ve seen at Arkansas. Our OL continues to be trash with little sign of getting that turned around. Fry should be the first one fired, then Chavis. I’d make those moves right now
Firing a guy after 2 years is pretty bad. He does need to make improvements and probably a few changes but you cant fire a guy after 2 seasons.
the celebration after beating CSU was infuriating. any coach who actually wants to win and win big is not celebrating after that win when they had a field goal to take the lead in the 4th. he is chewing them out for being in that position. there is a time and a place for fun in college football. a lucky win against CSU isn't one of them
chief should've never been hired in the first place. i guess i can understand bringing fry with him. but he should've been fired in the offseason. he is a bad recruiter and a worse coach. not a great combo
what would a coach have to do to be fired after 2 seasons? if your opinion is that someone should never be fired after 2 seasons for any circumstances other than like getting popped by the NCAA then i can respect that. but if you believe a coach could be fired after 2 seasons if the play on the field warrants it, then i can't imagine a better example of that than the chad morris era at arkansas
Normally I would always agree. But under no circumstances should we be taking huge steps back as a program. He still has zero P5 wins as a coach in 1.5 seasons here
i hope i am wrong because even though i cannot stand morris as a coach i will still watch the games and root for the hogs, but i don't see a path towards a power 5 win this year. i don't think we stay within 14 points of anyone in the SEC. if 2-2 aggies beat us by 40 morris might want to hire security outside his home. our crazy belligerent fans are going to go insane.
I think NCAA issues shows a lack of respect for the job so yeah that would be well within reason. Performance on the field? At least 3 years with movement towards improvement. I think turning the roster over from what Bert had to what Chad needs (no not a superstar but athletic guys who actually cause a problem for some defenses). The Chief hire was a desperation hire and he doesnt fit what Chad wants as a dc but till he gets his offense up to speed its probably best for the time being.
I agree thats a problem. Its a total roster overhaul. It was going to be tough with regards to your recruiting grounds then throw in going from a pro style to a power spread as he likes to call it.
Remember that Yurachek said a football/basketball coach not winning games is a “fired with cause” offense to him during his introductory press conference. He fired MA without pause and made a hire (Muss) that seems to be a phenomenal move so far. We will be solid this year, flipped half the roster, and repaired broken relationships with top flight in state recruits along with bringing in more highly ranked out of state visitors already before coaching a single game here than MA brought in his entire 6+ years here... and Muss doesn’t have near the resources our football program does. Not saying we should be an 8-9 win team every season, but the 3-9, 4-8, 2-10, and likely 3-9 season this year are completely unacceptable. If you can’t beat a P5 opponent in two years, get the fuck out.
if our offense looked good against shit teams like portland state and san jose state but looked like shit against even mid level sec teams like miss state and mizzou i would agree with you. but it is just pathetic.
I’m not sure how much of our games you’ve watched, but I honestly don’t know what our offensive identity is. Craddock is AWFUL (I forgot to mention him earlier) but Morris needs to take over the playcalling if he wants to save his own ass.
the difference in buy in between the muss family and the morris family is night and day. also muss did it the right way. apparently he didn't want to disrupt his family so he waited until his son graduated from high school and then made the move to arkansas after turning down power 5 jobs while his son was a junior and senior. meanwhile chad flies back to dallas every week before games.
His best option to run his offense being Nick Starkel is a problem. That has to change. When he didnt have the threat of a running qb at Clemson it was a fucking disaster. Go watch Cole Stoudt run our O after Dw4 went out freshman year. Abysmal
i mean it's not like morris isn't heavily involved in the offensive gameplan. craddock is definitely shit but it's more morris than craddock. i don't think him calling plays is going to change much of anything.
