get in saturday and looks like weathers going to be mostly ok monday/tuesday. got architecture tour, river walk, and a lunch reservation at cindys planned for one of them. it doesn't appear you can sit outside outside there but maybe have drinks outside?
anything going on aug 23-27? no concerts of my liking listed. no standup shows i see. going to cubs game sunday or might go to the sox.
Cindys has an outdoor area that they seat tables during lunch. I believe it becomes more of a first come first serve hangout space later on when it gets packed.
Taking my two grandpas (one is 90 years old) to the Cubs game on Friday afternoon. Of all fucking days to have an Excessive Heat Warning. We're at least not sitting in the sun.
Was always curious how dumb we were....... so at age 19 I walked from Mag Mile to the Bulls arena, too risky? Then years later, my Dad and I wanted to check out Obama's house. We took the L red line to what I think was close to East 51st street because we assumed we would then walk. It was sketchy as hell so we got back on and it went to the end of that line. We had to wait down there for a while. I believe that was 95th street.
your city is great, ate and drank too much, hamilton was great, architecture tour was great two thumbs up, will be back oh and Au Cheval burger > Loyalist
Publican, Green St, Duck Duck Goat, Girl and the Goat, Little Goat (Izard take all my money), Roister, Cruz Blanca, Loyalist, edit insert avec drank only at Parlor Pizza place, Lone Wolf Tavern, Ballast Point rooftop (was at the Hoxton so it was super convenient), Politan Food Hall, kumas Sawada coffee and doughnut vault hit the spot this morning that's a shit load of places now that its all typed out, and yeah didn't hit any of the places in the Hoxton itself, Cabra was closed for a private event last night was when we thought about just walking in
Yeah i went to girl and the goat over the weekend and think it was the best the food has ever been. I also super randomly met Izards husband at sheffields earlier that day who hooked us up nicely
Big week for the rising seniors at Nequa Valley. V excited to see Artis Gilmore and Bison Dele throwbacks
Can’t remember if we were more offended by teens wearing Bison Dele or Alex English throwbacks, but we was real offended.
Need help deciding where to stay, we're headed for a long weekend - going to catch a Blackhawks game on a Friday night, hopefully, see Hamilton Matinee on Saturday then the Bears - Saints game on Sunday afternoon. I have a ton of Marriot points, and all the hotels are the same 35k / night. So any tips or recs on where to stay? I'm not a nightlife person, would rather be close to food than bars. Also on the Sunday, Saints-Bears kickoff at 3:30. Blackhawks play the Caps at 6. How much of a pain in the ass would it be to get from one game to the other with traffic?
I’ll be in Chicago for 4 days in September. What areas should i look for airbnbs in. what areas should i avoid? Looking for good places to eat. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. plus good bars or breweries. I like anything from Pizza, good bar food to fine dining, any recs would be great honestly. I’ll pay back in likes and maybe above the pants, hand stuff. TIA.
I like staying in Lincoln Square mostly because I have a buddy with a family apartment there. You've got the zoo, easy train access and Uber is easy to snag quickly.
airbnbs: lincoln park, old town, wicker park, southport, lakeview. deep dish pizza: Lou Malnati's, Pequods breweries: Revolution, Half Acre, Corridor, Forbidden Root, Goose Island, Maplewood, Marz steaks: Bavette's, Gibson's, Maple & Ash, Swift & Sons restaurants: Girl & The Goat, Publican, 90 Miles, Mott St, Parachute, Purple Pig, Tango Sur, Duck Duck Goat, Oriole, Alinea, Au Cheval, Monteverde, Fat Rice breakfast: southport grocery, homeslice, summer house santa monica Infatuation (the review guide) will be very helpful for whatever you are looking for. Once you have a better idea of where you will be I can give you some more specific recs for the area
What's the place in Lincoln Park that does the piece of pizza a PBR and a shot of Jamo for like 7 bucks. I love that place I think it's the Boiler Room but I could be way off. Edit: it's actually Logan Square
They do a bloody mary with a pizza slice and chaser that is like $8. They have really amped up their brunch menu and yes only on sat/sun
I've lived here for 13 years and just bought tickets for my first show at Northerly Island (Avett Brothers) for the first time. Figured it was time to change anniversary dates and not just do a nice dinner like we do every year.
Can’t get enough of this guy Joey Santore, amateur botanist. Legend. Started trending today on account this clip was tweeted:
I ended up booking at room at the Coutyard Chicago Downtown/River North, on East Hubbard. We're planning on catching a blackhawks game Friday night, Hamilton on one of the days Saturday, and then Saints - Bears Sunday. Is this a good location? Any good food spots walking distance around there I should plan on hitting up.
Yea it’s a good location. You’re right next to Shaw’s crab house which some people love, I think it’s just okay. But you’re relatively close to everywhere in the OP so I’d go based off that list and choose a menu that sounds good
Probably be visiting your fine city around October 21st. Wife and I are celebrating 20 years and tossed around NYC, Denver, and Las Vegas as ideas but kept coming back to Chicago because we both love it. Plan on staying at the Intercontinental (usually stay at the Hilton on Michigan ave), will go to the Bears-Saints game, maybe visit Willis tower, architecture boat tour, and eat Pequods. Thinking about parking at the South Bend airport and taking the SSL to millennium park stop, anyone heard of any problems parking there?
Or of you want to get super cunty head up to Winnetka, I think this place does Thanksgiving https://georgetroisgroup.com/
#Chicago White Sox - Planning to go to the game on Thursday night, what's the deal with tickets? I see them as low as like $15 on Seat Geek, but would it be cheaper/better seats to buy them outside the stadium? TIA
Probably can get a better deal on seat geek than outside stadium but regardless it should be cheap af
tickets are less than $10 with fees on stubhub. stubhub is the best route unless you go to the stadium and someone gives you a ticket.
I have a reservation for fat rice thursday. i need a restaurant for saturday, i dont mind waiting a bit for a seat. any recs?
Saints - Bears is 330 kickoff Sunday. Blackhawks - Capitals is 600 puck drop. How much of a pain in the ass is it to get from Solider Field to the arena? Could I realistically do it and only miss the first period assuming the Saints are winning by 21 with 2 minutes left and I can sneak out a little early...or it's a normal game that doesn't go to OT.
A normal 3 hour game puts you at 630. Plus getting out of the stadium, getting to a good spot to grab an Uber, traffic. ... that’s probably at least a half hour to the United Center. I think it would be pretty hard to catch both games unless you leave the football game pretty early.
An hour late to the hockey game wouldn't be terrible, which seems like you're saying that's probably the absolute best case with everything including the game. Damn. Can't leave a Saints game early, but was really hoping to see Ovechkin in person. Whoever scheduled that Blackhawks games really should've put it at 7.
Looking at possibly doing a comedy club Saturday night, any recs or anywhere to avoid? Prefer something not too far from where we're staying Courtyard Chicago Downtown/River North
There's a Zanies down the street from 2nd City. I dont go to a lot of comedy clubs, so idk any others in the area
