Disappointed with the season so far. Too many fringe main topics. The quick recap was as good as always though. Last night I had to turn it off, because I was exhausted and frankly if the topic was on the Death penalty it may have been more interesting. To dig into just lethal injection was a bit too much, and when they started describing the effects of the various injections, I just didn't want to go to bed and have nightmares of feeling paralyzed from an injection while I am being told how painful it is and I can't communicate. Not saying it is not a discussion that should take place. Just saying I would like to see Oliver get out of the weeds a bit more this year. We get one topic a week. I want something presented from his point of view that has a bigger impact on the world. There are huge topics that he could do a great job on... Ukraine Venezuela Iran Yemen etc. Income Inequality packing the courts separation of powers electoral congress white supremacy immigration government ethics and conflicts etc. I want his take on these things.
I still love the show but it does seem like he's avoiding those types of topics/Trump on purpose. His thing about "we have the biggest show as a lead in for three more weeks, and we're talking about this, yep!" or whatever seemed to confirm that. He wants to lean away from those things because they're so pervasive. Which I totally get/respect. It's gotta be annoying to put so much focus on Trump and how he affects life every minute of every day. But dammit, that shit matters and I want some deep dives on it.
I still love you AOC you sexy dreamboat hopefully this episode was good enough for NYGator but seeing how GoT has broken him it probably wasn’t
You hate to be objectively critical? Season has been bad. Not only have the stories been fringe and not current, but they have been really sloppy and not very cohesive. Doesn't ever feel like there is a main point that he is trying to prove with the right amount of objective content to back it up. I wonder if he lost some writers over the past year.
It was better. I did love the Hunter stuff. I thought the impeachment stuff was still very surface and I feel like he used to tell a better holistic story in the short time he has to present a topic.
I love compounding, but yeah the Tricare loophole fucked up the industry and out a bad name out there for legitimate needed compounds.
Oddly enough, there was an interview on NPR this or I gotta talking about how prisons are having to use compounding pharmacies for lethal injection drugs now. Coincidental as fuck.
Yeah, not enough money to be made by large companies bc they are going away from it. They can order it all separate though. It's just 3 drugs from what I remember.
of course Trump selected the Accuweather guy to head the NWS also deleted my Accuweather app and feel shame for having it lomcevak
Thankfully he hasn't been confirmed. The capital weather gang of the Washington Post has covered it well throughout. Everything sucks
It should be noted his brother wants the Paterno statue to come back (he is trustee at Penn State). I fucking hate them.
He’s had other segments about Liverpool before. He also was a Liverpool fan in an episode of a community, not that that matters.
It's kind of cool to see a comedian with no laughter. Like, you can tell when jokes are landing, as opposed to when you find yourself laughing because everyone else was.
Yes, definitely interesting, but laughing is such a social thing. It’s hard to laugh when you expect one and it is not there.
