More of a /tweet. I feel like the site is one big promotional avenue for credit card companies. The content posted on the site holds limited value. Everyone’s posts on TMB detailing how they accumulated and spent their points has proven more valuable to me than whatever their contributors post to TPG.
I use tpg for reviews on different airlines and hotels, I don’t think I’ve ever used any advice directly from him for cards
TPG once, on a post sponsored by Marriott, talked about how great it was for consumers that if they had 30,000 SPG points now they have 90,000 Marriott so their points tripled in value. That's the norm for the site now
He's been a sellout for quite a while.. If you remember, he would pimp Chase Sapphire Preferred and tell people how that was the best chase card to get despite of a 100k signup bonus on the CSR - all for that sweet sweet affiliate money.
They had a review of a United economy+ seat/flight from SFO to Asia. Contributor showed how much legroom he had, while conveniently leaving out the fact no one was seated next to him. Raved about the meals, yet no pictures or real review. Just an overall shit post and the comment section tore the person up.
I am not a TPG apologist, but they do put interns on much of that. With that said, they just announced they were changing (standardizing?) their review/scoring formula.
tpg has good stuff, and it's what started me on the travel and cc game but you have to shovel through like 60-80% absolute trash useless articles
You millennials these days .. can't even get yourself to go out and buy gift cards to liquidate via money orders.
I just hit a year on my CSP and want to upgrade it to a CSR (which I know you just call chase). Will upgrading count as a new opened card and against 5/24?
I think you can't upgrade in the same sense that you can downgrade because the CSR is a premium card so it has tougher approval qualifications. Also, I think in order to get the CSR you'd have to downgrade the CSP then apply for it because you can only have one Sapphire card at a time. So yes, it would be a new line of credit
Guess I'm wrong, could have sworn it has been said before that going up a card level has to be a new application
Is the CSR/CSP double dip only for people who don't fuck with CIPs? Or is it "if you're getting one, might as well get the other while you can"? That's a ton of spending required for 100k pts
No its for anyone as long as you havent gotten a sapphire card in the last 48 months. Juice aint worth the squeeze imo. My method I spend about 30 minutes every two months on it.
Anyone in need of Delta Miles? I've got a 75,000 refer a friend offer for the Delta Platinum. 195 annual fee... Has a companion pass and free checked bags...
Any good guides for using southwest business cards to get companion pass? We have about 8-10k in expenditures over the next few months and, assuming we can push those to January, I’m thinking about shooting for the companion pass for 20/21. I already have the Southwest card (whatever the highest one is) but I’m assuming that doesn’t affect my ability to get bonus from Southwest business cards?
If you run up those cards, then you never have to pay the balance bc they don't know where to find you. #LifeHack
Amex Plat people Spoiler Anything on Saks? Need to pick up something for $50 credit before end of year. Would get a Peter Millar polo but don't see any below $89. First time I've looked though
i got that too i assume they're just incentivizing you potentially carrying a balance for a month which i never have done so i don't even bother accepting them
I haven't seen the offer but generally there's no catch. It's just the same as a drug dealer giving a free hit to get you hooked and in debt forever
Applied for my CIP5 and got 7-10 day'd. My wife graduated law school so my household income changed a lot since my last application and we also moved addresses. Im hoping they just want an address verification but we shall see.
making the every two years SWA companion pass plunge. anyone have a southwest rapid rewards business card referral for your boy?
Just picked up the new Apple Card, will I ever use it...no...did I just get it because it’s a metal card...yes. The low APR actually surprised me lmao.
biz card 60k + personal card 40k bonus + the 4k in spend between the two, already at 104k. I can swing that to get to 110
Thanks again for your help in this thread. Free hotel stays for Disneyland, a couple LSU football games and last years Fiesta bowl all on points.
