I liked how Jason Gay would say “yeah I don’t think it’s that complicated” whenever Bill tried to act like this was super complicated. What exactly is so complicated about this story? It’s obvious why Kerr and Silver are trying to talk around saying anything substantive. They don’t want to say the wrong thing and cost the league billions of dollars.
Never heard of th epoker cheating scandal. Just googled it. So, they still cant know for certain if he cheated other than his ridiculous win rates?
i like this idea. i would argue that the "next personality" is really just twitter; funny stuff goes viral. high quality stuff is there. no single personality or entity can compete with it.
finally listened to the Remember The Titans episode, lol @ Bill crushing Shea's soul for shitting on it
He is seen looking in between his legs a lot and at another point you can see where there is something in his hat. Combine that with his ridiculous calls/folds and you can say with almost complete certainty that he is cheating.
I just don't really care about the NBA enough to care what Morey even said. All I know is what ever he said raised a ruckus.
It’s a super interesting story to me. I can’t get enough of it for some reason. Russillo probably had the exact take you would expect. Which is, we all spend money on things that we turn a blind eye to the shady parts of the business (his example was sneaker companies), and China is that for the NBA.
As if right wingers only have iPhones and wear Nike’s. I just don’t get judging everyone on what side of the aisle they vote on and paint a broad brush.
Listening to the Remember the Titans Rewatchable and it's fucking maddening to hear Bill pronounce Gary Bertier as ber-tee-A and not ber-tier. His name is spoken out loud many times in the film! He's one of the main characters!
He's awful at pronouncing people's names. In The Firm pod he kept calling John Grisham "John Grissom".
remember when he thought it was Mike Mayock who leaked the Antonio Brown stuff on Instagram instead of the other way around and House didn't even correct him
and the two people on the show pronounce it correctly yet he’s so self involved that he never hears what other people say.
Bill totally cranked that one out due to the Vudu sponsorship and the new Mr. Mom show they have. really wouldn’t classify Mr. Mom as a rewatchable...I mean, Keaton was good, Mull was sleazy, Garr is a little more complicated ( had a crush on her since YF) she kinda sucks in this and Bill was all over it
Totally agree it was a cash grab and not a rewatcheable. Haven’t listened to it yet but it will kill time in the morning while I mow the lawn.
It’s a short episode and once they get through the opening, they crank right through the categories. Was one of the few times he did an ep. with Dobbins where he didn’t come off kinda creepy
I didn’t know about that Vudu connection so I thought the pod was random but I remember liking the movie because I grew up living with my dad when my parents were divorced when I was seven. It resonated with me.
This has been going on for a while, going back to his takedown of Doc Rivers back before they got KG and Ray Allen. Coincidentally he turned into a good coach when they traded first those 2 and won a title. He can’t separate a coach from his W/L record. There’s never any context to read into. And his opinion on an NFL player relies solely on what they did against the Pats or if they’re on his fantasy team.
Pretty much all of his "coaching" "analysis" boils down to, "Well, they should've just called the touchdown play."
His problem with coaches is that he can't separate what he watches players do with what he envisions those players doing if they played for Bill Belichick or Brad Stevens, because his vision for every player under those coaches is that they would all be amazing. I haven't listened to a word he's said about the NFL for years, but his #1 talking point when criticizing a coach (in different sports, not just football) seemed to be "what would Belichick do," and in his mind Belichick would always do the opposite of that coach and it would always work.
it is just way too simplistic. Because the people he calls morons he wouldn’t if they had good players because what he complains about is dumb.
I know, I was just making a joke. I fully agree that he believes rooting for a team coached by Belichick makes him smarter than people.
I usually don’t listen to his pods with Sal but I will fast forward it and listen to the parents corner from the one today. I shake my head a lot to his parent stories.
Calling Gary Bertier, Gary Bert-ee-ay was almost too much for me to make it through the remember the Titans Rewatchables. I mean they say his name in the movie. It’s not like he read it and then mispronounced it because he’d never heard it said...
