    Flying down today from Charlotte.

Wed: lunch at Acme or Felix's, Carousel Bar, Cafe du Monde, explore French Quarter, jazz cruise tonight, Lake Pontchartrain Hotel/Hot Tin Rooftop Bar

Thurs: breakfast at Ruby Slipper (unless have better suggestion), swamp tour, Central Grocery for Muffaletta, Dinner TBD, Frenchman St (suggestions... The Spotted Cat, DBA, Snug Harbor)

Fri: Garden District & cemetery walking tour, Commander's for lunch, afternoon suggestions in the Garden District?, La Petit Grocery for dinner

Sat: WWII History museum, lunch at Cochon Butcher, Courtyard Brewing, reservations at GW Finns and show at Preservation Hall.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

We're going to go to Sazarac bar and Lafitte also. I'm a big bourbon drinker/lover so interested in places that cater to that also. Stores to buy Bourbon near us and drink at etc.

Looks good - I like Ruby Slipper, I know they've become very popular and maybe touristy, but food is still pretty good for breakfast. Only to add for Ruby Slipper there is an app called no wait, or maybe it's built into yelp now - but basically you put yourself on the waitlist when you walk up to the restaurant you move to the top. So for us, we normally put our selves on the list as we're about to walk out the door, walk right up and have a table in just a couple minutes.

For WWII museum, I'm not sure when in there you are planning ongoing, but it's massive, it could be a multiple-day thing just going there so just be aware you won't see it all, if you're just squeezing in a couple of hours you'll feel pretty rushed.

If you're looking for a snack in the garden district - parasols is right there, get the firecracker shrimp poboy.

There aren't many great liquor stores downtown that I am aware of, but Martin's Wine Cellar and Elio's Wine Warehouse are the best stores for finding rare/hard to find bourbons and are located Uptown. Elio's has a pretty good social media presence for their rare/hard to find bourbons, so if you're pinched for time I'd prioritize Martin's (bigger selection anyway) and check out Elio's instagram to see if they've posted anything rare lately. They don't post everything they get (e.g., they posted a few weeks ago about having sold out of their barrel of Weller Antique after it was gone), however, so may be worth the stop if you have the time.

If you're still not having much luck at either of those places finding something you can't normally find (unlikely), then in Metairie there's another Martin's down the road from a Dorignacs Food Store. Dorignacs is a grocery store with a great liquor selection. Could possibly hit those up on your way to/from the airport.

For Friday afternoon, if you want to actually go to a bar and taste good bourbons, then Cure on Freret Street (http://curenola.com/) will have some good ones. They'll have your Weller 12's and other hard to find bourbons readily available on the shelf.

Molly's Rise and Shine is supposed to be the new cool restaurant place. Bearcat Cafe is also good, but not downtown.

I'm personally not a fan of Palace Cafe. Never had a good dining experience there. Good drinks, not so great food IMO. If you want cheap, check out Manolito (Cuban food), or maybe see if you can get into Bywater American Bistro. Bywater followed by a bottle of wine at Bacchanal could be a good pregame before heading to Frenchman.

August is good, but it is definitely an artsy presentation/small portion fine dining place. It is a great place to go once, but if you haven't been to a lot of New Orleans restaurants, that are plenty of other nice options.

Yeah been working through the thread last night and today. Only place we'll get to beer wise is Courtyard but that's fine with me. I've been heavy in craft beer IPAs, stouts etc for prolly 7 years now. Just looking for good quality beer from an IPA/stout standpoint.

Tonight we're headed to Bacchanal's for wine, dinner at Bywater and then Frenchman St after. I see Frenchman doesn't appear to be as popular in here anymore but we're gonna give it a go to see what the scene is like anyway.

I've got a lot of good recommendations jotted down from reading the thread finally. We'll see what all we can get in. There's just so much to do/eat but I will say we are loving our stay and having a great time here. In the end that's all that matters to us.

Miel is ok. Lots of weird beers. NOLA is mehhh well. Too many sours. Urban south is good.

Honestly, all new Orleans beers are meh as fuc . Water source is the Mississippi river. Gross.

I do drink paradise park by urban south bc it's a decent cheap lage .

I like sours a lot so I appreciate that about NOLA. Strong disagree on your 2nd paragraph. The water in NOLA is softer than a lot of places so it actually helps when making hazy ipas and such. Courtyard is some of the best beer in the country.

And it's pretty well regarded in the brewing community. They make beer with many other top flight breweries, attend some pretty exclusive beer fests, and Scott has connections with brewers all over the country, being from San Diego.

Courtyard beers are good. Just had their BA Stout aged in 21 year old Heaven Hill barrels...think it was some sort of collab with District Donut. Also am currently drinking their Simcoe IPA and Amarillo IPA. Great beers all of them.

Headed to Barrel Proof in a few minutes.

Did WWII Museum earlier today and Cochon Butcher after. It's been a great day needless to say.
