I’m a cunt but I was fully prepared to love this game. Loved Arthur, Sadie and Dutch but loathed the pacing, gameplay and to a large extent the story.
I enjoyed it a lot. Fast travel needs fixed. Maybe allow it from a campsite? Tho sometimes I did enjoy letting the cinematic ride happen while listening to the soundtrack. Imagine it will be even more enjoyable for the PC people.
This is me. May be my fault for having such high expectation because RD1 was on of my favorite games ever. The story just seems real repetitive and I feel like it takes fucking forever. I still haven’t even finished it and I’ve had it since day one.
Rockstar made some very conscience design decisions geared twords immersion and that’s fine for a lot of gamers but I like to keep my fingers moving and stay engaged. The story itself had some moments that I felt robbed it of impact for me as well. That being said, I’m a huge fan of Arthur Morgan as a character. Just felt he deserved better
I loved the pacing. It was the first game where Rockstar was able to stay serious the entire time and not have any characters that felt like caricatures.
Also appreciate how many of the missions are so different. Its easy for RPGs to have the same monotonous missions over and over.
AubCabs may be the first person I've seen to say that an RPG felt like it took too long as a negative thing... Make the MFer take 300 hours to complete for all I care as long as it doesn't get monotonous as others have said. And if the root of the complaint is that it DID feel monotonous then that may make the comment lose all credibility altogether. This was one of the most diverse RPGs I've ever played. If you want to see what a repetitive RPG feels like - go play the original Assassin's Creed.
I had no issues with pacing but just wish there was a reason to play it again No end game Online sucked
IMO saying “the game pacing is too slow” and “the game takes forever to finish” are completely different statements.
I feel like the pacing fits the western narrative. I’m just pumped for the next one. Probably playing as Jack
I just hope we get a single player dlc. Best game I've played in a very long time but it's not like gta with the replay value for me
It does and as far as one-time through RPGs go that don’t have leveling up and skill trees like the hardcore ones do, it’s a lot of material. The pacing early on is slow but I think necessary for people, esp ones that didn’t play the first one, bc there’s a lot of cut scenes and dialogue exposition. Once you get to St.D it picks up the pace a lot unless you choose to hunt and fish in your spare time between story missions.
I understood the pacing decision. It felt so much more authentic than other third person action/adventure games and I loved it. I feel sorry for some of my buddies that I helped talk into playing it that gave up because of the “slog” aspect. Yeah, the first act is slow but it’s an act of total immersion. If you resist it, you’re going to feel disconnected from the game and think nothing is happening.
Red Dead online has had a lot of new updates lately. Bounty Hunter, Hunting, Bootlegging etc. The bootlegging missions are long and have been pretty awesome.
I’m probably way late on this, but as a PSA, fast travel has been updated to be available from your campfire anywhere. I know this was a big pain point for people a while ago. Lockdown life led me to play again and I just realized the update.
most people were hoping for a more in-depth/longer co-op story mode type online experience. Not the ~7 3minute missions that they gave us. at least my group of friends was hoping for that
My favorite part of story mode was easily finding the best horse breeds for free. I probably spent more than 50% of my time on the game doing that. I just started playing RDR2 online, and now remember why I never played it in the first place -- because they don't even let you stable stolen or tamed wild horses. Pretty annoyed that they made it like that.

Can we not get a farm/home stead? Some type of shitty acreage we can build up while not out on the run being outlaws. Raising farm animals for pelts/meat. Crops? for money. Choices of sheds for wagons, barns for your stable, some decent housing. More fucking missions, not just hunting
If I wanna sit out on my deck drinking coffee and shooting varmints while my lab barks beside me, so be it.
