He couldn’t tell that one on parent corner. He told it last week when they were interviewing Nick Kroll.
I think I'm done with him and Sal and their guess the lines pod. I think the final straw was Bill asking Sal like 5 times, "I don't get the Steelers. Why make that trade for Fitzpatrick and not lottery protect the pick? Why wouldn't you do that?" Sal didn't say anything, just said yeah I don't get why they wouldn't. I stopped and turned it off right there.
Whining about how Brees isn’t catching shit because the Saints have been winning while he was out is a peak Pats fan shit.
It’s always “I would run 5 wide and have the WR cut across the middle!” because that’s what he did on Madden 95. Every passing offense would be unstoppable with nothing but drag routes.
I’m 90%+ sure he cheats on guess the lines. No way he’s that much more of a savant than Sal year after year. Change my mind.
the best was earlier this season when he had the wrong home team and still nailed the line exactly and then just moved on to the next game as though nothing fishy or remarkable happened. But then again this is a guy who admitted to cheating in Monopoly when playing with his family
I remember years ago he explained why the Patriots' two tight end offense with Hernandez and Gronk was effective through the prism of how he played madden 20 years ago
Robert Mays churns out a lot of good content in season. I prefer Clark’s writing as I think he looks for angles not many do, but Mays stock boiler plate stuff is good content.
I'm not usually "your team sucked so you can't say anything about another team" guy (because then I'd never be able to say anything about anyone these days), but the Red Sox had Betts, Bogaerts, Martinez, Devers and Benintendi surrounded by the biggest payroll in the sport and didn't even come close to a wild card spot. That seems harder to do.
I haven't listened to anything Keith Law has done in years, but my experience from watching him on BBTN or doing interviews for his book is that he completely goes into a shell when he does those shows and just does his insufferable fake laugh instead of telling people they're morons.
Parent corners about his daughter and her boyfriend are starting to get uncomfortable. They were sleeping? Sure Bill
Love to think back on this passage from his Fever Pitch review in hindsight: • The Farrellys seem like they're good guys, and they make a point of casting as many family members, celebrity friends and longtime buddies in their movies as possible. Which is fine. After pumping out "Dumb and Dumber," "Kingpin" and "There's Something About Mary" in rapid succession, they absolutely earned "Playing with the house's money" status for the rest of their careers. At the same time, none of these family members/celebrity friends/longtime buddies can actually act, so every scene that revolves around the fringe characters ends up being mind-blowingly bad. If they want to make home movies, God bless 'em. Just don't make me pay for them.
Kinda want Kyrie to keep going off just to piss off Bill. I want to see how long he can keep up the “Everything is great in the first (arbitrary amount of time). Just wait til (another arbitrary amount of time)”.
thinking things will end acrimoniously with kyrie is probably one of bills more grounded takes the past 5 years or so
Along the same lines, I want the pats to go undefeated and lose to the Saints in the Super Bowl. Not to piss of Bill in particular, but all of them.
Yeah i don’t think his reasoning is off. I just want to see what the threshold is for him to admit he’s wrong when he has such a strong take on something. Especially one involving one of his teams.
He has some strong opinions about the Red Sox FSG ownership group who have won 4 World Series with the Red Sox after an 86 year drought with their "Moneyball." But because they've done it now, he pre-complains about Mookie Betts being let go and how they trash people who leave. As a Liverpool fan, FSG tried Moneyball (Statistics) at Liverpool. It didn't work at first, because no one in soccer was familiar with the concept. But FSG then hired people who knew how to use the numbers and gave Klopp the keys. FSG spent money investing in Liverpool's stadium, practice facility, and broke records signing players. I assume, they've done so with the Red Sox. And Simmons, chose Tottenham has his EPL team in honor of unflattering Terry Francona leaks.
The hottest take pod seems like arguments you have with friends at work that were amusing in the moment but when you retell the story to someone else later it was a "you kinda had to be there" thing
It’s not on a ringer feed but the Woj / Rusillo pod was a great listen because it was just 2 guys that spend a lot of hours in and on the nba discussing what they think, no weird takes, no dumb shit about coaching that Bill likes to do, and Rusillo is always deferential to Woj as he should be
I'm enjoying Russillo and Chris Long, it's gotten better each week. Gainesville Hemsworth had me laughing.
I would rather listen to a full length Tic Tac and Melatonin album than Bill lobbing softball questions at douchebag tech CEOs
Woj's podcast is very good. He's obviously got people skills, which I'm assuming separates him from some of these insider types
Has Woj learned how to lead his guests into open-ended answers yet, or is he still asking 5-minute preamble yes-or-no questions? “I have to imagine, when it comes to a decision like that, you talked to his manager, and then after all the stuff that went down led to a sort of stalemate, that you just had no other option than forcing his hand, but it obviously impacted all the other guys on the roster, and then when you discussed the matter with the coaches and the execs, that they couldn’t reach any other conclusion, and the end result was you had no option but to part ways...is that accurate?”
Don’t get me wrong I respect the hell out of Woj’s front-office knowledge, but his interviews are 80% personal soliloquy’s and 20% him giving his guests the opportunity to confirm or deny the story he tells. I unsubscribed to him a year ago though, so maybe he’s gotten better with more reps + his experience on ESPN tv.
ooh can't wait to hear whatever nonsense reasons he comes up with to drop Kobe even more down his pyramid. Wonder where Jayson Tatum will land in the new one
I bet you he has Kobe top 15. I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t. I’m interested in the new pyramid rankings. Lots of new people in the top 50 since 2009.
