Here is Florida’s in the same time frame... 2011 - 19 2012 - 5 2013 - 25 2014 - 21 2015 - 17 2016 - 16 2017 - 45 2018 - 10 2019 - 22 Could it be better? Of course, and Stricklin has been improving the schedule since he got here. But for a Nebraska fan to chirp UF over our schedule, is quite frankly illogical.
I've been only a tiny bit serious through all this and barely paid attention. I like to fuck with SEC posters. I'm honestly not giving Florida a hard time as much as the fact that the SEC has an 8 game conference schedule and teams in the conference too often schedule 1 marquee game at a neutral site instead of playing a true home and home series outside the Southeast. Take neutral site games and then include bowl games and Northern teams end up traveling South to play football far more often than the other way around and, also, the SEC is obviously good at football but is habitually overrated to the point that it's a meme. I know Nebraska's SOS has been bad because the division has been bad and we have also contributed to the bad. If you look at teams in the B1G East SOS will likely look quite different and yet, they still play a 9 game conference schedule and typically a P5 team in non-con. But kudos to Georgia for scheduling a non-Southeast team and 2 P5 teams as a non-con this year. That's cool. Florida playing Miami and FSU? Eh, those aren't really what I'm talking about. Ideally the conferences were aligned with their scheduling rules which would mirror something like 9 conference games, no FCS teams, and 1 P5 matchup OOC per year. Bonus points if you leave your region (like scheduling a home and home with Utah, which is very neat good job Florida AD).
1- 2:1 was never offered by either school 2- We make $3M per home game, our financial situation sucks in AAC, we cant take a loss in revenue to play road games, same reason UF wont play road games if they can help it . Just the way it is. 3- USF is a mediocre AAC team at best...that was my point.
“UF isn’t in the market for home-and-home or a neutral site games against non-Autonomy 5 opponents,” Stricklin wrote. “However, we would be open to a series similar to what we’ve agreed to with USF … two games in Gainesville and one in Orlando. We are in need of a home opener for the 2022 season, so the 9/3/2022 date you mention would be a perfect date to begin the series, and we can fill in the remaining games from there.”
Why on earth would UF want to play a road game in a 45k seat stadium? Christ. You guys need to wake up
While I would’ve preferred a home and away with an acc or big 12 opponent, Utah is a power 5 and there isn’t another option 10 minutes away
And why the fuck would be agree to that significant loss of revenue. Our program just doesn’t have the money to do a 2 and neutral. Also our stadium is the exact same size as Utah.
If you guys are looking for revenue you should never do a 2 for 1. I 100% agree with that thought process. The problem is that your AD keeps trying to push a narrative that no one will schedule you. That’s obviously bullshit and a made up story, schools just don’t want to schedule you on your terms. And they don’t have to. Why lie about this?
Looks like we would be able to do it in 2032, 2033. We've got ND 6 times, UGA 3 times, and a LSU home and home between now and then. Then Oklahoma in 2035/2036.
That isn't shots fired. Many UofSC fans do not want to play Clemson. I'd love a home and home with UF. Don't think I've ever been to Gainesville
I've been all over Florida. Not sure if Gainesville has been one of the stops or stop throughs. I've heard it isn't very memorable so I'm not sure if I've been there or not. I'd like to go for a game
5-5 in the last decade between Florida and USC. Wouldnt be so quick to call them a weak opponent if I was the Gators
