YMMV based on your political leanings but Robert from Behind the Bastards and Cody and Katy from Some More News just launched their election podcast "Worst Year Ever" this week. The first two-part episode just dives into the background and biases of a few different corporate media companies/personalities. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/worst-year-ever/id1478794003
Mogul season 2 is out. Having grown up in Miami in the 1980s, all of the talk about 2 Live Crew and Miami bass is hitting me right in the nostalgia feels.
Slow Burn does seasons of stories. The first season was the Nixon impeachment. Second season was the Clinton impeachment 3rd season started today. It’s on the Tupac Biggie feud. I already learned a bunch i didn’t know from 1 episode. Although I assume if you’re well versed on the topic it might just be a decent overview more than anything groundbreaking.
I have found that I will moderately enjoy to obsessively follow anything produced by Wondery. Business Wars was corny to me at first because the narrator does voices for all the characters, but It's pretty good. They spit out episodes like crazy too. Now they are doing Hersey vs. Mars from the early 20th century and it's interesting. Bad Batch is about a stem cell scam and it's pretty good too.
Good comedy pods; Comedy Bang Bang Off Book Doughboys How Did This Get Made? Hollywood Handbook Never Not Funny
i went to a live recording of Comedy Bang Bang in Atlanta a few years ago. Auckerman, Lapkis and Thompkins were all there and we laughed our asses off.
The big themes ITT seem to be sports, comedy, history, and true crime. Hardcore History is a must-listen if history is your thing. Mike Duncan's podcasts "The History of Rome" and "Revolutions" are incredibly popular too. I'll always recommend Serial season 1 as well to anyone interested in true crime - it really sent true crime podcasts into the mainstream.
I can't wait for the podcast about the cultural impact Serial had. I will never forget driving to work in the mornings and doing circles around my building so i could finish the episode. She would drop the podcast at like 6 AM and at one point I woke up early just to listen to it.
From the picture I’d guess he’s an enormous tool bag. side note - I like that you name your AirPods to be consistent with your tmb name.
True American Hero sounds like an incredibly cringy podcast, unless the title is some kind of sarcasm or joke. However, that does not appear to be the case based on that photo.
It's the host of the show. Operators don't tend to look like Hollywood's version of them like that dude.
I really enjoyed The City. Season 1 was about this dumping site in Chicago in the 80s. About the city corruption and craziness. Season 2 started yesterday and is on Reno. Haven't gotten to the first ep yet, but the description is about Reno trying to force out strip clubs to entice tech business. Im sure it will be good.
I'd never heard anyone say he was giving the bird to Biggie and Puff in this picture. I always thought he was giving it to the media. Skeptical but interesting.
Robert Evans from Behind the Bastards and Worst Year Ever used to have (The Other Robert Evans) in his twitter handle because of the famous movie director. That movie director passed away last week. Now he has (The Only Robert Evans) in this twitter handle. Cold blooded but made me laugh. Those are two outstanding podcasts by the way.
Don’t know the host at all. Someone recommended that episode to me and it was fucking fantastic. Y’all should listen. The real Zero Dark 30 story. Plus this seal with on the captain philips mission as well. Unreal. sidenote: don’t know how to name AirPods and have no idea while there is a ph in Ralf.
Thought about posting this in the mass shooting thread. But I didn't think it would be seen. This story floors me in some ways. Miller and his group were known about by NC authorities & the federal government for decades. But through loopholes (His group being acquitted of killing six ppl, local authorities not believing that he harrassed a prison guard and jury tampering on a federal case.) Miller was able to commit the 2014 Overland Park Jewish Community Center shooting.
Also, I've listened to Embedded off and on for about four or five years. They have an incredible episode on the 2015 Waco, TX biker shootout.
Truman when does Slow Burn upload new shows? I use Google Podcasts. Will it give me an alert when a new one is uploaded if I'm subscribed?
Whenever I posted about it was the day it was released. So I’d assume weekly on that day. Edit - it was Wednesday.
