are you really stupid enough that you need it confirmed? pretty much all games have online features now, and those that always have now have more than ever. call of duty isnt just team deathmatch, its zombies and battle royale too. madden isnt just online exhibition and ranked games, its franchise, ultimate team, etc. beyond that, games are much more demanding now and require better connections. on top of all that, games have largely gone away from player hosts and have moved towards server hosting. so if even an idiot like myself can realize this then what does that make you?
I’m not even saying you’re wrong just wondering if their is an article or something out there that could confirm/speak to this But whatever
There's articles showing sales but I don't know if one has access to online usage from developers. But we as a society are spending more time playing games than ever and we as a society are online more than ever and just about every game has added or increased the amount of online game modes so it's almost certainly increased the amount of people playing games online.
They flipped it this year. Last year rep (rookie, pro, elite) was easy if you were good bc it was based off w/l and how you performed. Overall rating (92, 93, 94, etc) was based off playing a billion games. This year rep is hard bc it's based on games played but overall is based on how you play. I'm a 99.9 and I have less than 250 games played between park and pro am. I'll never hit legend or whatever the top rep is bc I dont play enough. Last year I was elite 3, the highest rep, but only got to like 96 iirc bc I didn't play enough games.
This post makes me irrationally upset you are the type of gamer that has allowed this kind of microtransactional non-cosmetic p2w/ paywall bull shit to flourish. Shame shame shame on you.
Fuck Bethesda for all the microtransaction bullshit. Anyways Big 10 and SEC have said they wouldn't endorse a new NCAA Football game so we won't ever get one.
2k isn't really p2w. It's p2p bc it costs $50 to upgrade your created player from 60 to 85 but that's as high as you can go on just cash. You can do it without paying but it takes several weeks. After that you have to play and earn upgrades and you earn enough VC as you go to pay for the upgrades. You can't just fire up the game and spend a ton of cash to get a 99 overall.
They give you a literal advantage over people who just play the game. A shortcut to jump 25 levels instead of grinding it out through matches because they know gamers want instant gratification rather than spend weeks or months getting a character leveled up. I'm going to guess your characters at 85 can run rings around a character at 60. That is the definition of p2w you pay to get an advantage over other players.
It’s almost as bad as switching teams and then absolutely destroying the crew you were just playing with oknole NoleNBlue
I consider that p2p. It's $50 to make a player an 85 and play that mode. The My Team stuff where you can spend thousands of dollars to get HOF'ers at every position is p2w imo. If you could spend money to buy yourself to 99 overall, that's p2w imo. If they didn't allow for player to buy up to an 85, nobody would enter that mode after the first 2 weeks or so bc they'd be so far behind. They'd be a 60 and everyone else would be 80's. 85 is serviceable. The game has been out 2 months and I just made a new 85 overall last week bc I wanted to try a new build. Zero chance I would have done that if I had to start at 60. You can always play offline vs the cpu. That's what you get for $60.
You can still play the game you used to love. You just can't play the new game modes they've added without paying more money.
and for the last like 6 years the myplayer mode was my favorite and me not wanting to pay an extra $50 to have a chance in the park and arena of myplayer fucking sucks because it was a blast before their p2w bullshit
Agree to an extent. I'm ok with an additional fee to play a game mode. Like the $50 on 2k to take a player from 60 to 85. I'm ok with that. If you could just buy a 99, I wouldn't be ok with that. I don't like the My Team things where players can load a team bc they spend thousands on packs to get HOF players. Honestly I really like 2k's set up this year. Good players are 99's in 3-4 weeks. Bad players can never get there. Last year it was impossible until you played 8 hours a day for 12 months. If you want to play career mode, buy the game for $60 and have fun. If you want to have career mode AND get into the online modes, it's going to be another $50.
It shouldn't be in there in the first place that is fucking point who cares when it got added. Games used to be about skill and mastering ones character/team/mechanics now developers have added short cuts in games and made games so grindy and the rewards so minuscule that most people would rather buy to skip that gap or paywall then just playing the game. That is where video games are now they are mostly 4k mobile games.
Oh lol NVM I forgot microtransactions were still a thing in sports games Stop buying this bullshit so they take it out dumbasses
Those games of old didn't have in depth online modes with massive server costs. You want the old games? Cool, play offline. Playing competitively online costs more.
When Tecmo sold a copy of Super Bowl, their work was done. They didn't have patches every other week. They didn't have online server expenses. They didn't have any maintenance at all. If a glitch existed, it was just there. Now they do have all of that. It's non-stop. You want to play a season vs the computer? Have at it. You want to play the game modes that require them to have more expenses? That's going to cost you more.
That too. Nobody is forcing you to play these new modes. You can still play the offline game for the same cost that you used to.
I drive a Grand Cherokee. I love my Grand Cherokee. They recently made one with the Trackhawk engine that has 700 hp. Do you see me whining that they charge more for the new fancy one? Nope, not me.
No , it doesn't there were plenty of games with huge servers and player bases with in game clan systems and tons of game modes. Now developers rush out half baked half finished test games that take a year plus through dlc, patches, and season passes to have the full game you were promised. Gamers deserve more hell even f2p games with hundreds of thousands of players daily only have cosmetic microtransactions and your skill in a competitive system is determined by your mastery of the game not if you were willing to upgrade or pay for some short cuts.
You realize you don't have to play them, right? Play the free games. Enjoy them. I'll keep playing the ones I like, cost be damned.
IF PEOPLE DIDN'T PAY $100K FOR THEM THEN THEY WOULDN'T CHARGE THAT AND I'D BE ABLE TO BUY ONE! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
