Absolutely, the vast majority of the Reacher series is incredible, very hard to put down. Reacher is a fantastic character
He is a great character. The vast majority of books in the series are really good. There are only really one or two off top my head that aren't excellent.
Ive read the first 9 or 10 of them. Really enjoy them and are a good change of pace after a long, heavy book.
Movie was an embarrassment. I will not watch the second one. As for the books...if you read them all... Skip Echo Burning.
Read them all except the last one, which is next on my list. Read a good bit of this type of fiction and the Reacher Series is my favorite.
enjoying it except that at some time he just completely over describes and wastes pages. You can pretty much skip over some of the description without losing anything. Like when he's on the bus going to jail-that chapter is completely unnecessary. Its just about how its hot on the bus, what he sees out the window, etc. It doesnt advance the story at all etc
Just finished Gone Tomorrow (#13). Probably my fave Reacher book since One Shot (#8) Jack Reacher has to be the unluckiest dude ever. Always finding himself in the middle of a jam! Saw this on twitter and thought it was pretty cool. Pretty much how I picture him. Definitely not Tom Cruise
reacher is supposed to be tall maybe 6'3. tom cruise is like 5'7 on a good day. Saw where another reacher movie is coming out.
Yes. I guess he's the one that bought the rights and made it all happen in the first place. He's a big fan of the series and casted himself as Reacher. Not surprising he would cast himself, but if he was truly a fan, you would think he'd realize he's a terrible choice.
I've read every single Jack reacher book and forced myself to watch the movie. I will not watch the second. Maybe I'm being a bibliophile faggot but I cannot get past the notion that Jack Reacher is a huge monstrous dude And not a little fucking turd.
Finished this yesterday. Loved it, but not sure how they'll adapt it into a movie. There isn't really a big action sequence at the end, which seems to be the big hollywood thing to do. Also - slight book spoiler Spoiler So glad that girl didn't turn out to be his daughter. I want my Reacher to be unencumbered.
Knocked out a few chapeters over lunch. Pretty good so far. It's a flashback to when he was in the Army, which I always find fun
Just finished Night School. Really good 8/10 Felt like if Jack Reacher was in an episode of 24. Dont read until finished Spoiler Small gripe is how he found the nukes because of a double/triple reverse accounting/translation error. That seemed a bit far fetched, but you have to overlook stuff like that sometimes in these novels. No biggie
Finished Night School the other night. I must say I was disappointed. I usually enjoy the Army flashbacks etc but this storyline was just too pat. Too easy. Far too predictable. And it didn't have enough of Reacher being Reacher. It was one of the bottom 5 in the series imo.
Just finished an advance copy of the newest book (No Middle Name) - short stories aren't normally my thing but this is solid. One story leads into the next novel coming out in the fall. On sale 5/30
I read it this morning before work. Pretty good, not the best novella he's ever done Jack continues to have the worst luck ever getting sucked into things. Spoiler If this is a lead into the next novel, I wonder if he gets tangled w these dirty DEA agents
Turning it into a show on a streaming service Also - new book out last week. Will probably get to it during thanksgiving
Only read the 1st book. Couldn't get into the 2nd mostly because I just wanted to read other stuff. I know that reading fiction can be an escape but reading historical books and biographies seems much more enriching and fruitful.
Sign me up for a Reacher Netflix show, each season could be a book. And while they're at it, do the same thing for Mitch Rapp.
Don't need to drag them out that long. That would be awful and boring as fuck at times if they tried that.
I’m reading the latest reacher novel now entitled past tense. I am a third of the way through and thus far it fucking sucks.
A new novella was released last week. It was pretty good, but was in first person, which took some getting use to for a Reacher story.
Amazon doing a series with no connection to the Tom Cruise films. https://www.vulture.com/2019/07/jack-reacher-to-compete-for-jack-series-dominance-at-amazon.html
I read a blog post or an interview where he pretty much apologized for letting Cruise be Reacher. Kind of sounded like it was all or nothing so he rolled the dice and sold the movie rights and regretted it. That article mentioned the Rock. Much better but i dont really see him as Reacher either. He’s too jovial, not subtle / dry enough.
For the Reacher fans this is a really hood series by an Englishman that is similar http://www.howtoread.me/john-milton-books-in-order/
Reading Blue Moon now. It feels dumbed down compared to earlier ones in the series, liked of like Child is tired of writing the books and doing research for them.
