I love the Mars theory for Veidt. Said it to a co-worker and he pointed out Veidt eating the tomato and that makes more sense if you consider he's somewhere where them growing would be odd.

First watch of every episode, I’m high and am all whoa. Rewatch episode 1-2 times during week sober and am all like whooooooooooa
Just rewatched the first 3 episodes, this is a good fucking show. No idea where this is going but I am confident it will be in a good place.
You guys talked about a book that preludes this or at least give it some context. What is it? I will ask for this for christmas. How long can I expect to go through that book?
bout the book a week ago and finished it with in a week, very good and easy read, like the saying goes “ way better than the movie with more background info”
If things don’t start making sense after tonight I’m going to give up on this. I have no idea what’s going.
Vietnam’s a state? Some doctor lives on mars and people talk to him through a phone booth? Why is there a circle of stars on the flag? Why is that strange old man living in a castle and performing experiments on his cloned servants? Why are squid falling from the sky? Why is there some undetected airship that goes around picking up cars with a giant magnet? Why is the fbi so worried about catching vigilantes when there’s a terrorist organization with dozens of members terrorizing police and black people in Oklahoma? There’s a whole bunch of random stuff happening and none of it seems connected. I loved LOST and The Leftovers so I’ve given Lindelof a chance with this this. Both of those shows had weird stuff happening and while there was at least a coherent narrative that connected things, what made those shows great was the incredible character development that was done with episodes focused on a singular character. This show is all over the place. I want to like it because I know what Lindelof is capable of, but so far it’s just confusing with no pay off.
It’s been said many times itt but I have no idea how people who haven’t read the book pick up on stuff.
The movie gave me enough coupled with a bit of wiki and half of the action comics. Plus I trust Damon.
I have not read the book, but have seen the movie, and that's been enough for me to follow it pretty easily
Lot coming together tonight Will, who doesn't need a wheelchair at 105, is now working with Lady Trieu on ??? Lady Trieu, who bought Veidt Enterprises, is very smart and very wealthy. And is building ??? Veidt on Mars theory looking more likely, imo. After showing the castle on Mars, the clones trying to survive extreme temps, catapulting the clones out of the safe bubble or whatever he's trapped in. Speaking of clones, what the fuck. On top of all the personal and Tulsa and 7th Calvary stuff happening. I'm officially hooked.
I wonder what Dr M’s endgame is with Veidt? He knows exactly what he’s doing trying to escape, and he knows he’s intelligent enough to figure it out.
Going down this neckbeard show complaint hole and I’m just simply amazed at this shit. The show is a perfect continuation of the story Moore told. It’s just trading one exaggerated political climate for another. The idea this show is trying to be “woke” may feel a little different after a few episodes especially if Damon takes Moore’s gray area approach. There is a legitimate hate train from “fans” going on about this show and I don’t think any of these assholes have a clue. By the time it’s done, I’m willing to bet this does a pretty good job of shining a light on who the real “snowflakes” are.
The talk about ratings/reviews don’t really mean much bc Lindelof has said he asked for 9 eps bc that’s how long his story needs. He has said he isn’t interested at this time in doing more seasons because he doesn’t have any other stories to tell in this universe. Obviously a big paycheck changes that but I’m appreciative of the fact that he isn’t doing more for the sake of doing more.
That was funny. Wondering if that was Dr. Manhattan that hit the Earth at the end of the episode or if it was Viedt/one of the clones
Ohhhh.. didn't they mention it was like 4-5 years after Viedt disappeared? Or that could've been when she bought his company..Not sure where it is in relation to the current timeline the show uses
Either way it has to be quite a few years before current timeline. Seems clear that she built her facility on their farm.
The reason im asking is because if this surely to be wrong theory that's half developed in my broken brain. Was that meteor Veidt's escape, and he's being hidden, and working with Trieu and Will? And what is it that Will is workgin on that will make Angela hate him? There's no one big 7th Kalvary bad guy. Are they being used as a pawn by Trieu and Will to burn to create some big reset like Veidt did w the squid? And if Veidt is being harbored by Trieu, is he the mastermind behind it? All that is probably way off.
don’t think it’s a person. it’s something valuable Trieu knew was coming and it was important she owned the land it fell on.
Well, a Martian year is longer than an Earth year. But really i think Viedt timeline is not concurrent w the rest of the story in Tulsa
I would assume a Mars calendar year is longer than Earth's, days are longer as well FJ research says a calendar year on Mars is like 680-ish Earth days
There’s no sense rationalizing anything in the Veidt world. If Manhattan wants Veidt to experience four years in the blink of an eye, he could do it.
Interesting theory I’ve heard regarding Veidt Spoiler The “statue” in the garden is actually him because to escape Mars he had to pull some Han Solo carbonite trick. My confusion with all of this is, why would Dr Manhattan trap him on Mars only to let him escape?
that’s my central question. If Veidt knows about his imprisonment, you’d think he’d realize escaping is hopeless
