So, yeah, Gin Buckets we legit need to de-rank before the double bloodpoints this weekend. The update tomorrow is going to swing the pendulum with regards to matchmaking ranks (you know how we've been playing against baby killers since the update) completely the other direction to where it's going to go based on your highest ranked survivor now. So I'm a 1 and you're a 3. Even with people ranked 10-12 making the lobby we're going to go against nothing but red rank killers starting tomorrow. It's really, really stupid and people reading the patch notes are trying to point that out but it'll probably take another hotfix to correct it which won't come before double bloodpoints. I'm actually going to get on tomorrow on my lunch break and DC from as many games as I can. Going to be a bitch too since it's only 1 de-pip per DC now.
bic -- what do you think about Brother_Cope? I've watched him before, seems nice, but is he that good? How does he get so many viewers on his streams?
Both y’all should download the 2 hour free trial of Hunt: Showdown. It just came out for Xbox and it’s definitely interesting. It is obviously different than DBD, but it has a similar feel to it as well. It’s a 10 person horror survivor BR where there is a giant NPC monster that needs to be killed in addition to everything. So it’s your team vs other teams vs the monster and it’s minions.
There’s a wide range of strats. The team that kills the monster has power ups to see you on the map for a short period of time. They could just escape a number of ways without you being able to stop them. Or they could flank you and kill you. Etc. It’s not that simple lol
So why even try to kill the monster? Just seems like an unnecessary risk. If you can still win without taking on said risk.
As said you gain power ups from killing the monster allowing you an advantage over other players so you can then kill them. Take their things. And win. Additionally everything in the game has cost and you gain coin the more you do. The risk is literally the reward.
Why do anything in a DBD game when you could just mitigate the risk on to teammates and hide in a locker? Essentially the same line of thinking. Both games generally reward you for your risk.
Wait... So the other players are teammates? Nevermind. If they are teammates, yes, help them kill the killer. Started the de-pip process, finding a match at rank 2 takes forever. Edit: You don't lose pips by disconnecting in the loading screen anymore. FML. I'll probably depip just fine by solo queueing, since I've got an inflated rank after facing off against 1 perk, rank 19 killers for the last week.
I can’t tell if you’re being serious. There are teammates and enemy players. Either way the strategy of “not doing anything” isn’t super viable lol. Maybe don’t download the free game. Bad idea. Nevermind.
What about farming zombies so you can upgrade, but stay the fuck away from the killer? Or does the killer's gold/items give you that much better shit to where you want those weapons? I already downloaded it anyway. So annoyed with DbD's pip process right now. How am I supposed to depip without screwing over randoms? Maybe I'll play the games and then DC on death hook every time.
Is it single de-pip for DC's like we were thinking? And I don't care if I'm screwing over randoms. Like you said, "they did this." That's the response if you get any messages. Sorry I don't feel like subjecting my legit yellow/brown rank friends to having to go against nothing but red rank killers if they play with me. Blame the devs.
So, yeah, de-ranking to like purple ranks is going to take about a year. I solo queued for a game and it took about 6-7 minutes. Didn't have it in me to stay, DC and fuck over other people who were waiting that long. Guess we'll just see how it goes next time we play.
Exactly what happened to me. The next game I loaded in, I decided to DC on 3rd hook. Was very audacious in play style, but ended up having all 4 survivors live. I didn't DC because I knew I'd gotten too many blood points (led the game with 27k). Depipping isn't going great so far.
I think one of you asked if there would be a Halloween event and it looks like it's going to be themed like the one last year but won't work the same. Last year we had the Hallowed Blight event and that involved getting vials of this stuff from plants around the map. Some people loved it but others complained because it created another objective essentially and if people did gens instead of looking for the plants and filling their vials they would miss out on the potential juice. So for most of that event people kinda just ran around filling vials and not doing gens. They're going to keep the same stuff aesthetically but instead of having to fill vials you'll just do event gens and have event hooks. There will be 2 event hooks and 2 event gens per map by default but you will be able to get offerings from the bloodweb to create more gens/hooks (each offering creates another one of each) and upon completion of the gen or using an event hook to hook someone you get all the normal points plus like 4500 or 5500 extra. Should be good. The event should start sometime after rank reset so just keep your ranks lower so we can find games more quickly and also avoid sweatier killers.
Halloween event info... https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/93854/news-withering-blight-event-overview#latest All you noobs will be able to get some spooky flashlights and medkits.
WTF is this Demigoogoo doing at 39:30? Is it a bug that prevents wiggle or something? Or is it a perk, or? I've seen Legions do it as well.
It's Mad Grit. It's a Legion perk. Removes the cooldown from unsuccessful melee attacks while carrying a survivor AND if you do hit someone while doing it the person cannot wiggle for 4 seconds. So it only prevents wiggling for 4 seconds and only if there's a successful melee hit while being carried. Jen just wasn't wiggling there. She thought it might be EdgarAlanBro and probably wanted to check the killer's IP with an app to see if it was but that app doesn't work on dedicated servers so she was probably tabbed out of the game.
It's just such a fun perk. Can't wait to use it again after rank reset on Sunday allows me to play survivor on my main account again.
Anti-Spirit build. Curious why he loves Iron Will so much. May try it, but I feel like it kind of counteracts the Nancy perk he's using.
Iron Will alone is super strong against Spirit because people who main Spirit play with their headsets turned up to a billion to make sure they can hear everything a survivor does. Iron Will forces them to turn their headsets up to a trillion and risk losing their hearing within weeks.
So the event is being postponed because they don't have the mid-chapter update (3.3.0) ready for tomorrow. I love how the first time I avoid playing to keep my rank low-ish for an event it gets postponed. So awesome.
The update came out Wednesday morning. Event is live. Archives/Rift are live. Rift is basically like a battle pass in other games. Unlock stuff for free just by playing. Can unlock more stuff if you get the premium rift for 1000 Auric Cells and if you play enough you get those 1000 back. The Archives are cool because it's basically just more daily challenges. If you care at all about the lore of the game then you get interesting things there as well but for me I just like having more things to do and being rewarded with both bloodpoints and Rift fragments or whatever to increase my Rift level. And I was watching a streamer a little bit ago and they said double bloodpoints starting tomorrow (well, today) at 11AM. Might be a shorter double bloodpoints window just for Halloween since you already get more bloodpoints from doing event stuff but I'm not seeing anything official about it even happening anywhere so we'll see in about 6 1/2 hours.
Aredetha's stream seems like a very pleasurable experience after watching this video. I'd imagine this is how most killer streamers streams are. I actually started like legit crying laughing at Ardetha's reaction when Aaron gets up with Unbreakable at and the few seconds after 7:14.
Trailer for new killer/survivor. Can watch PC people play as them in PTB. Killer seems pretty strong ATM but I was watching Zubat who is one of the best Hillbillies out there and this killer's power is very Billy-like so vee vill see.
Gin Buckets bic Space what platform do you guys play on? I made it to rank 1 killer on PC playing exclusively billy but i never play survivor.
We're on Xbox One. I play probably 65/35 survivor/killer and get to red rank on both sides each month.
bummer, i'm on pc only. I havent climbed back to the top in almost a year (got sick of getting bodied by twitch streamer SWF) but it seems like they've finally made some tweaks to make top level non-nurse killer viable.
I think we're going to get crossplay/cross-platform progression at some point though. Dedicated servers have been live for the PC and Nintendo Switch versions of the game for a little while now and should be on X1/PS4 soon. Being on servers should allow them at some point to let you take your profile from one platform to another like you see on other games nowadays. The latest "tweak" to try and balance the game a little more was to basically remove instaheals. It was rough playing killer when they announced they were going to do that because everyone started using their saved up instaheals pretty much every game.
i can't imagine the console players are going to be happy when they start running into PC prestige 3 nurses.
PC Nurses and Huntresses will definitely be the toughest to go against because those are the hardest to play on console which means we don't run into really any truly good ones. But there's nothing a survivor can do on PC that we can't do on console. Streamers like OhTofu have pointed that out many times. Said he knows a decent chunk of really, really good survivors on PC who use controllers anyway so that won't be some insurmountable obstacle. But there will definitely be a period of time where we'll just get destroyed by any decent PC Nurse or Huntress we run into for a while.
Vault build is pretty nice. Since the game is so poorly optimized on console, just like Dead Hard, it's not quite as nice as it is on PC but it's still nice to run every once in a while. I think you weren't playing with us when Vince and I were running it more because we definitely talked about how we gave you a lot of shit for using Spine Chill and it was a part of a pretty strong build for people who are already good at looping.
