Nobody cares more about anything than this guy cares about his office shelf https://rutgers.forums.rivals.com/threads/did-my-office-shelf-thread-get-deleted.180213/
Let's just say that someone had a good time posting some R-rated content on rivals last night. Mods were asleep at the wheel.
Davidovicz makes a 44 yarder to put him over 80% for the second straight year and it gets called back and we punt. Fucking sucks.
The defense was actually pretty solid, should have been an even bigger blowout. 2 stops on 4th down and a forced a mixed field goal. There were so many players on the sidelines who clearly don't give a shit though. The one dude was doing poses for a photographer while the game was going on
what a complete disaster. Hobbs dug his grave on this one. The other article going around has 2 guys who have never been head coaches as top candidates. SWEET.
I'm not as upset about this as I thought I'd be. It really depends on who they hire instead. If its those backup options nj.com mentioned then I'm officially out.
No one like Monken, Leipold or Jones I'd take Hafley if we can swing it - someone like Fritz with a good staff. 8 years guaranteed contract to Gary would have bit us in the arse sooner than later.
I hope THEY hire the tennis player. Notice my use of "they". Because unless this resolves with a ridiculous surprise it's not WE anymore.
No coach worth their salt will want to come. We won’t commit to being competitive. Definitely not an up and comer. Maybe a coach on his sunset tour
Politi article is pretty good. He roasts Hobbs and Greg brown. Says Schiano had already started recruiting behind the scenes and had 100 names of transfers to go after to jump start rebuild. What coach is going to want the job now. Fucking idiots.
100 names of transfers? Oh please. That article was a puff piece at best. We may get a minor boost the first year or two but it'd have been the same old story after that. Hard to fathom a guaranteed 8 year contract for a mediocre game day coach like Gary. On the other hand, with such a turd of a negotiation by Brown and Hobbs, who's gonna come here?
It’s funny because that info I got a few days ago was from the ADs POV so while it mentioned that the likelihood of a deal was deteriorating, it also neglected to mention anything their side was doing wrong. I have long since given up on RU football. I will still obviously always hope we do well despite ourselves, but I think after this next hire we will be too far gone to ever recover, no matter the circumstances. The team we field next year after a 5 man recruiting class, god knows how many transfers and the hiring of some shitty coordinator or re-tread is going to be unfathomable.
I think we all knew this was going to happen when we were 3 weeks into negotiations and a deal still wasn’t done. Honestly, I partially blame the pitchfork mob for giving Rutgers absolutely zero negotiating power. Hobbs couldn’t even pretend there was another serious candidate without people calling for his head. I’m just disappointed both sides couldn’t make it work. We’re not going to find anyone close to Greg’s caliber and Greg isn’t going to sniff a p5 job. Even if he does, it won’t be an 8 year deal with facility improvements and a huge assistant salary pool like Rutgers was offering. I don’t know how he just walks away from that contract. $$$$$ Hobbs stated he wanted someone with head coaching experience and ties to NJ. The options out there that fit that mold are extraordinarily lackluster. At this point, I think we need someone like Monken that is a proven head coach that can win without top talent. No one is going to come here and recruit at a high level. I rather contend for a bowl and be competitive against some of these top teams than run a trendy offense that we won’t have the horses to operate. I just don’t see any other names that have a chance of success.
All this noise about the "big name" donors being all in on Gary and still couldn't swing shit. Man the whole process was a farce. I wish they had actually interviewed some other coaches before getting involved with Gary.
Been a day and I still don't know how to react. This is legitimately the most Rutgers situation you could possibly imagine.
Welp, after listening to EL and Bobby Deren on WRSU tonight I have to tell you, I really hope Pat Hobbs is fired and then dies of hemorrhoids. http://radio.rutgers.edu/bobby-deren-talks-greg-schiano-on-the-wrsu-crew/ http://radio.rutgers.edu/eric-legrand-talks-greg-schiano-on-the-wrsu-crew/
Hell even if I'm not sold on Gary, the slithereing weasel has really shit the bed and scorched the earth for anyone decent to even consider coaching here. We're gonna get the Campanile brothers special aren't we? This must be the worst coaching search in a long, long time.
Did the players hate Ash that much? There has been significantly more effort especially on defense since he's been fired
One thing to leave, another to give up on your teammates halfway through the season. I won't be mad if anyone else transfers, but don't be a bitchmade pussy.
I'm gonna sleep like a baby for the next 6 years..barring a schiano heart attack and prompt medical retirement.
