It’s still relative. I don’t think that there’s anything close to a consensus that he’s not a good defensive coach, let alone “awful.”
rutgers is a brutal job. anyone who takes it needs to be able to absorb the multiple 50+ point losses that are inevitably coming while building the program up for a few years. schiano has the experience and the clout with the program and local high school coaches to power through those defeats without the program tail spinning. i don't know if it's a home run hire, but the list of guys who could realistically succeed there right now is awfully short.
Chris Ash saved the OSU defense and ruined Rutgers so if Schiano ruined the OSU defense then I am looking forward to seeing everybody in Indy next year
Don’t hire Greg Schiano as Rutgers’ next football coach, state’s top victims advocacy group says https://www.nj.com/news/2019/11/don...h-states-top-victims-advocacy-group-says.html
Fisch with partridge or Anthony campanile as dc plus Nunzio as oc is a pretty good result for Rutgers. If anybody is going get some top NJ kids to stay home it would be that crew.
I would need an annual meeting between BC and Rutgers as long as Bert and Addazio are employed at the respective schools
This is an absolutely brutal takedown of the AD https://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/...ll-dream-with-greg-schiano-fiasco-politi.html
Btw is this Schiano thing even over? My memory from Michigan dealing with Schiano is that he’s a major waffler. In 07, he took the Michigan job, then reneged and a few days later regretted it and tried to take it again but we were already down the road with rrod.
At this point, Rutgers and MD are Silicon Valley style blood boys that exist purely to funnel TV revenue to the rest of the big ten
who would’ve guessed that changing conferences and being stuck in a division with 4 of the best programs in college football history would be hard
