I wrote this out 3 times last night and erased it because I wasn't in the mood to argue something that is written in neon in Times Square it's so fucking obvious. I appreciate you stepping up to the plate.
If you think this shit show was entertaining as an outsider just wait until we get our full share of those millions we're bringing into the conference and set it on fire in the north endzone because the students need something to dance around when we blast shitty EDM after every play. It's gonna be epic.
To get to work on the scouting reports he created on every single one of our players down to the walk-ons as well as identify 100 possible kids in the transfer portal to contact. He brought all of this to the meeting in Columbus. AD Patty Dingleberry wasn't impressed.
For reference, the top programs are all beginning to implement private jet usage for assistant coaches. So that demand for it to be implemented for the head coach is about a decade behind.
At the time of his firing Coach CornCobb was already extended out to year 7. That 8th year meant absolutely nothing in negotiations. It's all about our AD not wanting to relinquish control of football to GS. It all makes zero sense because more than likely a new AD is in our near future anyway as our President is retiring in May. New guy will almost surely be pressured to bring in his own AD hire by whoever gets him appointed.
Would have brought better competition in major sports and almost no extra advertising and subscription dollars for the BTN. That's a lose-lose.
Not saying the admin isn't messed up, but Schiano hasn't been a HC in a while, already left Rutgers once, didn't do a great job at OSU his last year, and then walked away from being DC in NE before he even started. If I'm Rutgers, I'm not sure how great I'd feel that I was getting the most motivated guy in that scenario. I'd probably rather try another assistant and hope to hit lightning in a bottle.
Between this and Tennessee, it is clear the most exciting words in college football are now "Greg Schiano linked to head coaching job"
This is all irrelevant all that shit was agreed on, the AD just found a way to weasel out because he never wanted to hire him
He had to be convinced to even talk to him --Greg Brown, who is the CEO of Motorola, chairs Rutgers’ intercollegiate committee on athletics, and was the point man on the Schiano courtship. He had to convince Hobbs to talk to Schiano, and that finally happened in early November.
How do you know for sure? It's a common ask and most places with resources allow for at least limited personal use.
