I don't think any of yall will ever truly appreciate the despair of being a Rutgers football fan

Its not just about being incompetent or sucking. I've followed other sucky incompetent regimes. It doesn't get more incompetent than Billy King's Nets. The guy mortgaged more than half a decade of the teams future for a single second round playoff appearance. But still despite that it still wasn't as bad as Rutgers. Billy King for all his fault was trying to improve the team the best way he knew how. Rutgers on the other hand does not give a single fuck about about improving anything. The school president does not give a single fuck about athletics. If it was up to them they would just cash those B1G checks and disband the program. They had to be dragged kicking and screaming into big time athletics and despite seing the fruits of its success (B1G invite sold out stadium etc) are more than content to piss it all away.

Basically what they want is to have an athletics department that makes no noise causes no scandals(still fail remarkably at this) and does just enough to get by and not have fans yelling at them. There is no initiative to succeed or be competitive. If fans weren't rioting they wouldn't have fired Chris Ash. The problem is fans are starting to not care any more. They've lost like 30,000 season tickets and I'll be surprised if anyone is in the stadium next year. So they can hire the whole campanile family and have grandma pack the lunches if they want because people are tired of trying to drag them out of their own way.

Because they published the term sheet. If their hang up was personal use, then it would be pretty easy for them to limit it since it wasn’t a part of the agreed upon terms.

I don't know what kind of opportunities are out there for defensive coaches in this era, but I have to think Hafley would have better options than Rutgers in the next few years. If nothing else, he can probably get a NFL DC job and have a path to being an NFL job within a year or two if he wants it.

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

Hafley would be a great hire for Rutgers on paper with his resume and north jersey connections but I think that as good as he is he would be in over his head just the same as Chris ash was. I feel like you can be the greatest recruiter ever but you’re always going to have problems being successful in keeping New Jersey kids in-state. I think it’s only gotten harder since they have joined the big ten too.

In my opinion Rutgers screwed the pooch when they failed to land a legitimate head coach after Schiano walked the first time. The momentum of the game 2006 season was gone by that point, yes. However it was still a decent job to have and rather than splurge on a big name hire then, they promoted Kyle flood and it all went to hell after that.

Barring a miracle whoever Rutgers hires is going to be set up to fail from the start and that’s a shame.

This guy starts off with a "you haven't been paying attention" and then compares Rutgers' refusal to throw big money at a coach to Illinois.

Illinois' AD fired Cubit his first day on the job and quickly gave Lovie a 6 yr/21 mil deal. And then we extended him and got mocked.

If anything. we are dumb for paying too much. We definitely aren't tight-wads like Rutgers

One would now have to imagine that Rutgers AD Pat Hobbs is toast.
There's no way that these two can coexist after A) Hobbs took Schiano's demands public in an effort to make him look like he was greedy and B) the fans/donors saw through it and rallied to Schiano.

Typical NJ shitshow, but good on Rutgers for getting him back.

It seems like everyone gets a turn eventually, how long you stay there is the question. During the Brewster era a lot of people turned off the Gophers for what seemed like for good. 55 years of sub par football
